  • this would explain how i blew a chipmunk in half with my 10/22

  • I'm a beginner and I need help ! What r cci ammo and what's the difference and what wold be good hunting ammo and I need some ammo tips witch grains r best for birds to raccoon / all small game plea reply to deairriusmcclain@yahoo.com please reply

  • is there any diferance betwen these and the stinger .22 ex lr ??

  • I have been using the CCI Stinger Ammo in my Remington Nylon 66 RF rifle for years,? And have shot & put down loads of Groundhogs ( Woodchucks ) with one shot kills in ( Body or Head Shots) from out to 125 yds with great results.? I love this ammo from CCI.? FYI When it is not available,? I go with the Remington Yellow Jackets,? Which in my opinion are just as good of results with them also.?

  • You should try the aguila 30gr "super maximum hyper velocity". They are loaded hotter than the cci stuff: 1750fps as I recall. I would love to see how they preform on this type of ballistic medium from both a rifle and pistol... I have always wanted to know how much velocity they lose from a handgun...

Both the hollow points and solid tip ones are potent from what I have seen.

  • very nice! i was always wondering how these would mushroom or expand, if you get the chance and can find some CCI velocitors, i would love to see a video done on those, also where do you purchase your medium?

  • Great job man, what part of TN are you in im in south nashville, wish i had some country land to shoot on.

  • people think .22s arent dangerous ha

  • "oh, it's just a 22..." it will still fuck your day up...

  • If you use Knox gel from the grocery store they are see through so you don't have to cut your gel blocks.

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE POST A VIDEO OF POWERBELTS AND .44 MAG LEVERREVOLUTIONS! i need to see how they peform!!!

  • Try Federal Spitfire.

I tested some of those rounds and found them actually better than CCI Stingers.

  • [German/DE] How you make the Ballistic gel ???

  • how do you make your gel

  • can i use stingers on a marlin model 81 .22 lr??

  • @TheCristianleon yes i have an 81 and stingers are great out of it

  • i own a remington viper .22 1992 model only made it for 1 year and its clip fed it has been the BEST 22 i have ever owned not many sold cause people didnt wanna pay the $450 back in 1992 for one. I shoot my stinger ammo out of it no problem dead nuts at a beer can 100 yards away. The cci 32grain hallow is 1640 FPS and if i hit u in the hand or anywhere really your gonna seek medical help if not you will get woozy the insects will not fkin leave u alone and then u die welcome to the real world.

  • I think you should have a partnership with CCI.

Thanks to your videos, that is the only brand I buy now.

  • Holy crap it's the hammer of Thor!

  • Very nice test! Thanks a lot for uploading! Did you chrono them?

  • merry christmas everyone jesus loves you

  • @ColossusCat Merry Christmas to you too.

  • RIGHT, for anybody that is worried about stingers in 10/22's i bear good news. from the ruger manual (i just purchased a 10/22) this is what it reads. "Stinger" Cartridges have longer cases then .22lr loaded to u.s. specifications. They can stick in the ruger TARGET chambers, which can result in ruptured cases. DO NOT USE STINGERS IN TARGET RIFLE 10/22's.

stingers are fine in stock barrels just not target barrels.

hope this clears things up with some people that were worried.

    your welcome :D

  • Where u got the block?

  • can you do one on reminton yellow jackets?

  • Just tried this in a wetpack test, wasn't too impressed. Shed a lot of lead on the path.

I also tried Federal Spitfire and was pleasantly surprised they actually expanded and retained a lot more weight than the Stinger.

Threw in two Remington Golden bullets, neither expanded and over penetrated.

  • on my manual it states not to shoot stinger ammo out of a 10/22. Have u had any troubles? Get back to me as soon as u can so i know whether or not i can take it shooting tomorrow. Thx. Also i regularly shoot rem gold and its zerod at 50 yrds. Will the velocitor change my tragectory? Thx again. Please get back

  • @MrAzcabowabo

Stingers are longer and could cause problems in a 10/22. Should not notice much difference in trajectory at 50 yards unless you are shooting nails.

  • Comment removed

  • @tnoutdoors9 i used to shoot nothing but stingers out of my 10/22 without any trouble at all had 50 rd mags and could empty very quickly if anything they improved the guns performance by making it cycle faster that could be why they dont recommend them because they slam the bolt harder but i shot probably 50k rounds out of mine and was still in great working condition when i sold it

  • @MrAzcabowabo I do this alot with mine. From my experience, its fine. 10/22's are sturdy and reliable. Id only use stingers to hunt though. Pick up a pack of Federal 550 Bulk (very consistent and reliable) for 18 dollars at wallmart. Happy shooting.

  • @TheyxSeexMexTrollin i picked up a pack of stingers to try. I wasn't impressed to say the least. I hear good things so maybe it was my rifle or me. At only 50 yds my groups were almost half an inch higher "which i understand" but my groups opened up just over 1/4". It doesn't seem like a big deal but at 50 yds that's not so cool. Although there's less punch and penetration out of the rem gold, it's not near as accurate IMO. I'll pick up some federal. I'm always open to new stuff. thx

  • @MrAzcabowabo In regards to the stingers, remember you're using a 9lb trigger pull (the only flaw of the 10/22) so accuracy isn't always the greatest or consistent. If you're looking for a better hunting round, just like the bulk ammo, there are options (stinger, CCI minimags, velocitor, any high velocity ammo). The 10 22 cycles anything, fine. The only things about the REM is i noticed the metal oxidizes and the finish rubs off in your hands, and when firing, they're a tad inconsistent.

  • @MrAzcabowabo In the manual it states they should not be fired out of the target model only, because of the tighter tolerances.

  • @MrAzcabowabo i shoot stingers out of a 10/22 my dad got back in the 60's and it does fine but id stick with what your manual says

  • @fmpanic000 Agreed. Stingers are not to be used in a 22 LR of any kind with a match chamber as the case is to long. You can use stingers in a stock 10/22 as long as it is not a 10/22 "target", "charger" or has been modified with a barrel that has match chambers like most bull barrels. I have shot thousands of stingers through 10/22's with no damage. Sting on my friends. TSFG

  • @MrAzcabowabo THE 1022 TARGET MODEL FACTORY BARRELS ARE THE ONLY FACTORY BARRELS RUGER MAKES FOR THE RIFLE THAT WONT TOLERATE THE ANSI LENGTH STINGER CARTRIDGE IN. THE TARGET MODELS ARE BASICALLY A LOOSENED VERSION OF A "BENTZ" GRADE CHAMBER. WHICH IS QUITE SMALLER THAN THE ANSI SPEC CHAMBER FOR STINGERS LIKE ON THEIR OTHER MODELS.

  • @MrAzcabowabo i always use these in my 10/22 they work better than any other ammo

  • I dont use anything but the stingers. They are excelent bullets for squirrel hunting.

  • iS THE 1750 fps Aguila .22 LR 30 grain HP better than CCI Stinger? And how about the CCI Segmented Stinger HP?

  • That would explain why ground squirrels would often look like they exploded when hit by this round. Right at the point in the gel where the bullet did the most damage would be very near the internal center of the squirrel. It was a nasty round and they didn't move far if at all when hit by it. Ahh.....childhood memories.

  • who needs 7 shots of .45 when you can dump a load of these through the same hole in a mk 3?

  • @tbrowniscool THe mk3 is amazing. Cheap to shoot, accurate as hell. I just think they overdid the safety features a lil.

  • How is this gel made? Anyone know?

  • as per manufacturer recommendations, ruger suggests not to use stinger ammo

    cheers

  • @MrFalco27

Most owners's manuals say not to use hyper-vel rounds but the fact is the pressure is no different than a .22 High Velocity round and they work just fine in any gun chambered for .22LR. I ran lots of them through my Ruger Mark III with no problem.

Taurus manuals say not to use Stingers, etc, but the gunsmith at Taurus told me he used Stingers to test my PT-22 after he repaired it.

  • Nice video. Thanks!!

  • that is the exact same ammo and gun as me

  • hello; need help. Can i use the cci stinger in my colt .22 m4 carbine???

  • so a 600fps bb will go 3.5" in flesh ?

  • zombie brain go *plluuut*?

  • nice,i was wondering how this would work for self defense since it's all i have, now im sure it can do some damage

  • Excellent video, short, very clear & to the point, the cci 32gr leaves no doubts that it would be a very deadly round on small game out to say 75 or even a 100 yards... in the hands of a marksmen. Tnx's.

  • what is your composition you used?

  • If your testing for defence or hunting purposes you need to place denim, clothing or fur over the front of the ballistic medium.

This will given you a better idea of penetration & bullet expansion :)

  • Hey man where did you get your steel targets from? If you made them how thick is it? I would love to have a range like that behind my house but I have to goto the hunting club

  • .22 LR Stingers are great. I hunt javelina with them at ranges under 50 yards. I remember shooting one on back of the shoulder, the bullet carved the bottom part of the spine hit a rib and bounced up to the neck and landed in the animal's jaw. Its a good round for varmits at close ranges. I wil not use them to hunt rabbits because it will do too much damange.

  • can you try to do a .22 wmr tests

  • have you checked into the spitfire 22lr by gander Mtn. muzzle is around 1500 fps?

  • I'd also really love to see this load and any others being tested from a much smaller .22 LR, such as a North American Arms Mini-Revolver. I know they lose a LOT of velocity due to the revolver design and short barrel, so I'm sure that expansion would pretty much be a near-impossibility (not that expansion ever really amounts to much in .22 LR, anyway). Still, it'd be interesting to find out how much it still penetrates ... especially compared to solid-point .22 LR (like CCI Mini-Mags).

  • Nice video, I've always liked the stingers they preform well in handguns also.

  • Just an FYI In my ruger 10/22 manual it states not to use the "stinger" type ammo because of the longer case legnth. Have you had any troubble with this ammo in your 10/22?

  • What do you recomend more the Stinger or the Velocitor?

  • great video tn i have to say i was very impressed with this round being fired from a Remington nylon 66 shot it though the side of an old cpu tower nice made a hole the size of an 9mm bullet

  • What was the velocity?

  • @towgaumer the 32 grain is about 1600 to 1700 fps.

  • @towgaumer a little over 1600 fps I think there like 1680

  • @towgaumer discription

  • @towgaumer theyre advertised at 1640 fps

  • @towgaumer 1640FPS

  • @towgaumer stingers have a muzzle velocity of 1640FPS

  • It would be interesting to see if the lower velocity from a handgun would improve the penetration depth of this round. I doubt it would expand at all from a barrel 4 inches or less. 6 and a half inch barrel it might be possible to create a middle ground of expansion and penetration but no fragmenting

  • I get the feeling you're in Tennessee.

  • i would love to see some 22 magnums! thinking about a 22 mag for a pocket pistol, but am trying to find some info on magnum ballistics.

    -Ward

  • There great, under rated. TN try some Velociters! There nasty!

  • Thats why I carry this round in my little .22 revolver as a backup in my pocket for when my 9mm fails or gets knocked away from me.

  • If u have, or ever get a hold of a .17 hmr can u please do a vid of it against this ballistic gel type stuff? thanks

  • Good vid nasty wound channel, in a wet book test I got similar expansion without separation on winchester super x 40gr hps hi velocity.

The channel was 4-5 inches deep and bullets recovered were .50-.60 measured with a tape, I used a 10/22 carbine.

  • wouldnt want to get shot by that

  • CCI stinger rounds are designed for longer barrel lengths. Their ballistic potential is largely wasted in a handgun because the powder is slower burning. Hence more muzzle blast and noise without much gain in velocity. In a mouse-gun ( a pocket pistol) I would carry standard velocity stuff with 40 grain solid points. That said. The CCI Stingers from a rifle are another matter. In that realm, the compromise of bullet weight for a big gain in velocity is worth it.

  • i'd like to see some tests on sub-sonic ammo. 25 and 50 yards.

  • That's a good lethal round in a small .22 pocket gun. I carry stingers in my Beretta Bobcat.

  • Yeah, I'd like to see how these high-performance .22's do out of pistols...

  • Now this was a very interesting vid on .22 ballistics. If you get the chance hope to see the Federal and Winchester (bulk pack from Walmart) ballistics test. Great job and please keep up the great work.

  • nice vid if you want try the cci segmented hollow point

  • Comment removed

  • like a few have said, could you possibly do some more tests with the .22, say 25,50,75 yards? im real curious about this hah

  • Awesome TN. Thanks for sharing!

  • Looks like there is a lot of interest in the little .22 lr .... there is a lot on the net about pistols... I have a Walther P22 and it fun and fussy, a couple of rugers and they will shoot anything but they are heavy... The Aguila Interceptor and 60grSSS would be a couple of interesting tests.... Its always very interesting watching your video's- Thanks for the good work!

  • How do Federal Copper plated 22.LR 40 grain work out ?

  • Wow thats awesome..that was some serious damage for something that small

  • The velocinator would be a great comparison round.

  • can you try it with the cci velociter ?

  • @john21992

Just bought some....it's the next test in .22 LR.

  • @tnoutdoors9 When you will do that, will you add the 4 layers of denim like you do for your handgun tests???

  • @tnoutdoors9 where do you get your ballistics

  • @tnoutdoors9 this video was very interesting to me especially because i use this ammo frequently. could you please do some more tests and cool videos with them? i would really appreciate it

  • @john21992

    I second that request.

  • TN- Any chance you can get access to a KelTec PMR-30 or any 22WMR pistol? I'd like to see penetration results compared with a similar length barreled .22LR...

  • I would like to see those Aguila SuperMaximum 30 grainers go at that block. I think they would be less penetration, but be violent while decelerating.

  • The good ole' under-rated 22. Seeing these types of videos always makes me happy.. It is like seeing a Volkswagen bug running the 1/4 mile in 8 seconds.. People think oh it is just a bug.. Little do they know... Oh it is just a 22. Little do they know... ha ha

  • @Vidwatcher321 Good to know but stingers are kind of a superficial hollow point and I'm not familiar with the velocitors. I was thinking like some super-X HP's they seem to expand more regularly in my experience. Or maybe some federal match or Aguila.

  • Woah, serious damage. I have some regular CCIs for my 10/22, I gotta get some Stingers!

  • Second the short bbl. test. i keep a mag of stingers in my walther p22 so would definatly be curious to see those results

  • Hum, I knew the .22LR was nothing to laugh at when it came to letality, but I did not expect that much damage and penitration.

  • This stuff is great to watch, it's nice to know what kind of relative energy is going down range with various cartridges and calibers.

  • Great Video! You are my hero dude!

  • I really enjoy the attention to detail in your videos, keep up the good work!

  • Holy crap. The lesson to be learned here is don't get careless just because you're shooting a .22.

  • Great vid!!!!

  • I use a Ruger Mark III Hunter which is very nice to use. I was impressed by the cavity and tumble effect. Stinger is a very good brand and I have some I use. A 22 is a good cartridge not only for plinking fun, training new shooters, and having less noise footprint, but this showed some reasons why a rabbit might worry. Unless its Bugs and he would win of course. Very interesting test.

  • cool!!!!!!!

id also really like to see some tests with a 22 pistola

  • i think that rhumor that the .22 would not pass through a human head is false, i think it would go straight through and out the other side

  • @deadtofall666

unless its a .22mag i doubt i gonna go through and through

  • @danysniper22 hmm i actually disagree and the only reason is, ive seen .22 lr pass through 2 car doors thats pretty crazy you have to admit, think about 2 steel doors vs a human head

  • @deadtofall666

you have seen a .22lr go through 2 car doors? ive barely seen going through one let alone 2, unless its some kind of weaker metal or without any stuffing, a 17HMR have alot more chance on going through and through a skull

  • @danysniper22 haha ya man i was down at a pit a while ago and there was an old burnt out car there an it was going through both car doors and out the other side, that was with a mossberg target .22 withe a 26" barrel and i was shooting the federal blue box 550rd value pack, it was crazy

  • do some 45 acp

  • How would a solid,non-hp bullet compare?Interesting videos,good job.

  • CAN YOU DO THIS TEST WITH CCI VELOCITOR !!! PLEASEEEEE

    GREAT TEST !

  • Good video, let's test 22lr

  • great video ive been thinking about getting that rifle out of all the 22. rifles you got is the 10/22 your fav if not which one... thanks for the great videos

  • Cool I look forward to more on the 22's .

  • dont get me wrong i would rather have a larger caliber but if you had to this could serve as a good self defense round..

  • wow, never expected that!

  • Great to see a .22 test coming out of the channel. CCI mini mags are a very popular round & would be good to see your test with them.

  • lethal .22 :D

  • Wow, Im impressed.

  • DAMN totally unexpected . better than the .380 test imo.

  • @waseem1173 Seriously?

  • @myantispambox well kinda exaggerated :p but still impressive for a little 22

  • great vid 10/10 any chance you can do a test using cci maxi mag in 22 wmr. would love to see the out come on your Ballistic gel.

  • this is teh exact ammo me and my dad use when we shoot our .22 mainly because its consistant. we get to many duds when we shoot the cheaper stuff from remington.

  • @pokemonrocks08 That's because remington ammo is garbage, but cci is pretty expensive, you should try federal 525.

  • One of my favorite can poppers.

  • Great demo..Thanks

  • People talk down the .22lr, military uses it in special ops, I've not met a cop yet that didn't hate the things, scares the crap out of them.

  • thats pretty interesting there. Did you say that you had the media at 50percent? Also I liked the gun POV before the impact shot on this one!

  • @tacticalfairy amen

  • i was wondering if you can test out the new Hornady .22 WMR 45 gr Critical Defense to see if it worth buying

  • Neat test thanks.

  • Its not ideal, But i have these loaded in a pt22 that i am using for SD. Of course when i can afford to get a bigger cal ill use that. But i feel comfortable with these.

  • @tacticalfairy well its not going to be the same penetration when its going through a human skull as it is when it goes through simulated muscle tissue... but ya, it would go through just fine lol.

  • WOW...I would love to see the same test at 50 and 75 yards...Even throw in some cheap ammo like the federal or winchester 550 boxes....THANKS for all you do..

  • Very interesting, thanks!

  • Keep up w/ those ammo tests. More 22,9 please. Thank you very much for your videos

  • I've always thought people seriously underestimated .22 rounds, especially the stingers.

  • Wow, wasn't expecting that out of a .22

  • @miket1590 Many people don't expect that from a .22. It's way more deadly than you think. (although I would take a .223 over it any time of the day =)..)

  • @miket1590 yeah i second that!

  • @miket1590 most people don't lol

  • @miket1590 .22 can be a nasty litttle round!

  • it would be very interesting to compare this to the same ammo out of a handgun, maybe 3" barrel.

  • @gboyd242

Good idea, I'll have to add a .22 handgun to my wish list. Hopefully won't take too long to get that done.

  • @tnoutdoors9 you should look into High Standard. ;)

  • @tnoutdoors9 maybe one of those Ruger 22/45 threaded barrel models? and maybe a little tax stamp to the BATF? :)

  • @tnoutdoors9 A few years ago we did some generic testing with CCI mini-mags through phone books with a 10/22 and a long barrel P22. The 10/22 would penetrate all the way through a 3" phone book and lodge the bullet into my tire backstop, same ammo in the P22 would only get about halfway through the phone book.

Good stuff tn, looking forward to more of your tests.

  • @tnoutdoors9 get a ruger mark III 22/45.

  • @tnoutdoors9

A accuracy video of this round would be good. These rounds have a lot of power at short distances, but the weren't really accurate out of my rifles.

  • @tnoutdoors9 I heard the Mark III is where it's at =) gotta love Ruger!

  • @tnoutdoors9 If you are only going to use it for these test, you can pick up a cheap older pistol for under $100. I mean, noone cares if it jams every shot if you are only using it to test ammo out of a shorter barrel.

  • @tnoutdoors9 get a walther P22

  • @tnoutdoors9 dude.. RUGER MARK III, It'll match the 10/22 nicely =) If at all possible, go for the hunter version (longer, fluted, bullbarrel).

  • @tnoutdoors9 A Ruger Mkiii 22/45 is a nice .22 cal handgun. You might want to check it out

  • @gboyd242 from what ive seen the round does not get full velosity out of a hand gun and does not mushroom like that it stays pretty much the way it left the chamber.

  • @nellynell77 That's exactly why it would be interesting......

  • It would be great if you could make a comparison of the same cartridge, but out of a pistol length barrel. Would performance be even close?
