Those are the heads of the Ghetto. Nazis usually needed police force inside the Ghettos, and they chosed people who also lived inside. They had to do every order that the Nazis gave them, it was some kind of minor police inside the Gheto.
After this film I was shocked that so terrible, cruel things had happend in history of our world. I dont have any words to say how sad I am about this. I hope that thanks to this film everybody in the world will know better history od Poland and the Jewish nation.
I have to say i watch this movie in history and it touched my heart, I can't get his sad face out of my mind. This movie has changed me. I cried, but i love this movie
It was sad but unfortunately so truthful and just brilliant movie-masterpiece from master Roman Polanski. He did a great job and deserved his Oscar. The same with Adrien Brody - phenomenal acting!!! The whole cast was great. The Pianist is one of my favorite War movies - along with Escape from Sobibor (1987), Schindler's List (1993), Life Is Beautiful (1997), Savior (1998) and Black Book (2006).
i watched it last night, i am shocked :O it was so scary, so crazy time, ohh god, i am so scared by this film :(:( i am so pity of those poor people who died in the second word war :(:(:(
@Skansener Germany wasn't just one big pile of Nazi supporters, a lot of people were against Nazism, there were resistance groups in Germany as well. All men were drafted, you couldn't say no unless you wanted to get killed. It's not all black and white, but ignorance is bliss i guess
Obviously the people who cried while watching this hadn't seen Schindler's List, that film is far more emotionally wrenching, the only sad part of this movie is the fact that the German officer who saved him died in a soviet prison camp.
@DyingSID666 I agree that Shindler's List was very emotional, however it is far beyond your mind to be critisising others emotion through this. The only reason movies are emotional on any level is what people interpret how things are portrayed. The characters and the story combined, not just the story. You have no room at all to critisize others emotional journey through a movie. This movie is just as emotional, just on another level.
@broadwaystar2011 I think your forgetting the actual story, its about one Jews persistence to survive and people who helped him, Schindler's List is about a man who risked death at every corner and bankrupted himself to save the lives of nearly 1200 Jews, that is far more touching to me, depends upon what movie you prefer I guess. The Pianist is also an amazing film but isn't in the same universe of film making as Schindler's List.
@DyingSID666 What's more, this is the first popular WWII movie that shows struggle through a perspective that is nearly forgotten in all of the talk about the war: those who hid from the Nazis and survived on their own without going to a death camp.
@broadwaystar2011 Stanley Kubrick was planning a movie called "Aryan Papers" about the same situation but between a Jewish Mother and her son, it went close to production, but as they were going to start Schindler's List came out and Kubrick dropped out. I can see why the Academy didn't give The Pianist best picture, they didn't want to convey the message that if any good holocaust film comes out it automatically wins best picture.
if kubrick did make aryan papers he definately wouldve won his first/only oscar for direction, even though he shouldve won for strangelove/2001. and theres no denyin the academy arw zionist! But i dont think the academy have any genuine sympathy towards the jews that died durin ww2, they only award these films/performances to further propogate their political agenda. which is why no anti-israel/vietnam/homo/govt film ever won a notably award.
I think it's especially moving for people from Warsaw, I cried so much on this film. Our capital still wears the marks of "razoring to the ground", Hitler's command. Even if the film has flaws I ignored them, it's one of my favourites and Adrien's somewhat melancholic eyes are perfect for the role.
@jjweaver830: Look up "Wladyslaw Szpilman" and you should find it, it's the person this film is based on and the character Adrien Brody plays...And it's his piece of music.
this film looks very good, the story looks really heavy as in very emotional. I need to chooose a film to analyse for English at school, does anyone think this film would be good to analyse in terms of like metaphors, symbolism, style etc.?
"Moving To The Ghetto Oct. 31, 1940" by Wojciech Kilar, this track is from the soundtrack. But what you hear in the video is probably a sped up version.
