@lazypd3 I'm not in LA, so city ordinances have not authority towards me. I am not even in the US, so no American laws have authority towards me. It is legal to possess. As your comment is incorrect, I have deleted it.
It's too bad the V-bottom LAPD Series 6 Badge replicas are no longer made. Aside from the V-bottom, I liked those as they best resembled the LAPD badges of the 1960's
@gavin911,There's an annual gunshow I go to in the county(Ca,US)where I live. There's a booth that sells mostly law enforcement items(from badges to caps).Including the LAPD badge from the 1950's tv series,"Dragnet"(it has "Sergeant" & badge # "714").Also there's movie prop badges that has "Metropolitan" on it(instead of a city's name). There's also 2 old style '70's & '80's police red & blue light bar for sell.
There are plenty of sites that you can buy a cheapy replica from, almost all of them are in the EU. Just search 'LAPD badge' in google. You can try that, but I would check the laws of which state you're in, and whether the site will ship it to the US at all.
Thanks for the comment! I collect this kinda stuff, got this badge from the net. They're quite expensive tho.....search 'kennefeller and gouldrich lapd' in google and it will come up with some of the best LAPD badges available :)
This law makes the shipping, possession and use of Police badges and Police badge replicas a crime if they are used for any purpose other than: (1) as a memento, or in a collection or exhibit
(2) for decorative purposes
(3) for a dramatic presentation, such as a theater, film, or TV production (4) or for any other recreational purpose.
it's illegal to own any police badge that isn't actually given to you by the academy. it's called... um... pretending to be a real a police officer.... not good homie. some youtube users don't know much....
I do know about it - in the UK - '1996 Police Act; It is an offence to impersonate a police officer, wear a police uniform calculated to decieve or possess an article of police uniform'.
I'm not your 'homie'.
I'm not pretending to be a police officer.
I do know much about this.
It IS legal to own a police badge, often referred to as 'COLLECTING'.
If you can't accept it as a collectible item, from a COLLECTOR then don't comment or even watch it.
12GuageLosAngeles, it is NOT a crime to own an issued police badge, just like it's not a crime to own a police agency patch. BIG difference between collecting/owning badges vs. showing a badge and claiming you're a police officer when you're not. I should know, I've been collecting police badges for years. It might interest you to know that a lot of the folks who are selling these badges are current or retired law enforcement.
LOL yeah right, making a movie? First of all CIA operatives don't carry badges, they're not law enforcement. Sounds to me like somebody is trying to infiltrate a government building or something.
Why do you need a CIA badge for?IT IS ILLEGAL TO POSSESS A FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BADGE IN THE USA REGARDLESS OF WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU DO FOR A LIVING. THE ONLY LEGAL POSSESSION OF A FEDERAL BADGE IS BY THE MEMBER OF THE SPECIFIC SERVICE TO WHOM THE BADGE WAS ISSUED. THERE ARE NO EXEMPTIONS UNDER THE LAW FOR FEDERAL BADGES.Federal Law (HR 4827, Law #106-547), pertaining to badge possession,
collecting, and use went into effect on 12/19/2000.
wow 7 years ayeee thats quight a wait.... how long have u been in the depart ment??? not long enuf if ur saying u cant wait. better be an english major.
First of all, the CIA is not a law enforcement agency, it is an intelligence/espionage agency, therefore none of its members even carry badges or have any arrest powers.
There's no such thing as a CIA badge. Maybe a photo ID card.
Heheh, that's badass. If I had one of those things though I'd find myself in prison though. I couldn't resist the temptation of flashing it at people.
Every time I'd see a fine girl I'd walk up and be like, "how you doing, my name is Detective (insert last name) *shows badge*, you have the right to remain sexy!" etc.

Thanks for comments, yeh, I couldn't get it in any other number - but in a film or sumin you would see the number in too much detail anyway.
