  • Love to see more of this, it was wonderful

  • being a heep fan since 1973,i, have heard both sides, david, kenny,as wel mick, these guys were great, however things got out of control, from bron mng. to the obvious, these very talented musicians were over worked,to much touring,to much studio work, too much..... they needed a well deserved break, one ,two, five yrs. to rest, and then ,well it never happened!!

  • best live band of all time, bar none. purple is the only band that came close but they didn't have the vocal harmonies, the stage presence, or the overall live effect of Heep a live show that grew and grew until audiences just literally levitated.

  • IMHO David Byron WAS the best rock / metal singer ever.

  • If David Byron did not have it, I cannot imagine who did!

    Give us a break !

The man was a choir unto himself and with the exception of Deep Purple's

IG, I don't know anybody who would measure up to him.

  • Interesting that Ken says David Byron "didn't have the world's best voice". I think David's voice is incredible as I'm sure many would agree. Sorry but post DB, hardly worth a listen.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I would love to get ahold of this entire disc!

  • I very much appreciate Ken Hensley and his work, but I think David Byron was right when he said Ken had made a mistake letting him go. The matter of the fact is that this was the end of the best Uriah Heep lineup, because nobody could have replaced Byron successfully. The rest of the group should have helped him overcome his drinking problem. He very well deserved that. On the other hand, this event totally destroyed David Byron. He was lost, and eventually, he was dead. So was Uriah Heep.

  • @milansc on the other hand leaving byron in the band, could give uriah heep a very bad name, cuz of live performaces which are very bad cuz of byron drinking, and they warned byron way before and making him stop drinking is almost impossible so ken really had no choice but to letting him go. :(

  • @milansc

Hear, hear. I never liked Uriah Heep after David's departure. I tried hard, believe me. The only post-Byron song that came close to the magic of the real Uriah Heep was Wise Man. Can you imagine Byron singing that? I get chills just thinking about it. But blame Byron, not Hensley. Ken Hensley, god love him, got lost himself after Return to Fantasy. "Sympathy just doesn't mean that much to me. Compassion's not the fashion in my mind." Please. Talk about 180 degrees wrong for Heep..

  • @mauricemorning I would suggest that you check out Sea of Light from '96, as well as their latest albums, Wake the Sleeper and Into the Wild. Sea of Light was an updating of their early 70's styles, while their two latest albums are a little more focused on the harder edged stuff with tons of Hammond organ. It's really classy, melodic stuff even though it's fairly hard and heavy.

  • Poor David, poor Gary. I love them all. Kenny is my hero

  • David Byron (29 January 1947 – 28 February 1985) HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAV...I do not know anything about Lawton and Broken, because when you leave Heep, decided to remember only the best and forget the rest. Eventually, they all there pouvolnyali, only one Mick was, and not sure he wants to continue. I have with all of them friendly relations, but to restore them, it took a while ...
