Almost to tears with this one WOW! Funny thing is yes this is gospel music at its finest, but its also pure vocals, can say 99% sure no vocal lessons, just rare god given talent!
the lead singers voice is so beautiful! love this version better than their original recording. (btw why is every version on youtube up a half step form the dvd?)
I have never heard a more beautiful voice than Suzanne's. Does the Cox Family have a website? I would like to get a look at their appearance schedule and see if they are performing anywhere in the northern half of Florida or perhaps southern Georgia. Would love to see and hear them in person, and also see what CDs they may have available for sale.
looks like very good people, I would like to meet them. Don't think they could sing a bad song. But please stay away from Alison Crauss she done messed up bluegrass. God Bless
Thanks for posting this song video. It was my mother's favorite song and when she passed on 10/05/2002 a friend and a daughter sang it at the funeral.
I love this song. I sang it one time while I was working in the Mall one time in a low voice. Next to a table that I was singing by he started to sing with me. I found out he was visiting from Tennessee. He liked me singing that song
@Un4GiveAble100 Suzanne is definitely still with us....I went to high school with her...she was a year ahead of me and is currently one of my friends on facebook...she is healthy and whole...
It just doesn't get much better than this where Bluegrass is concerned. I have this CD, Down from The Mountain. THIS is my fav. bluegrass family, and Suzanne has quite simply the PERFECT bluegrass voice.
Father Cox plays that fiddle like it should be played. It doesn;t "squeak" like almost all of the others. It's beautiful. I'm from /Alabama and I have heard just about all of them and there just a'int anybody who knows how to play it right. Elton
For anybody who likes this music, the dvd is superb. Its called Down from the Mountain. It is one of the best music DVD's ever from any genre. I could not recommend it more.
Their vocal quality nearly matches the album. That's another great aspect of bluegrass -- you're not disappointed in concert because of overproduction in the studio. Real music.
I thought that was the Peasall sisters, but I was not sure. Great song by the way. The Cox family's bluegrass rendition of this great gospel tune is out of this world. Thanks Bruinbeer99
As much bluegrass as I have been around and as many festivals as I have been at (both as spectator and musician) I have yet to see the Cox Family....Now I know I have missed one of the best bands I have ever heard... Fantastic harmony! I gotta see them now!
Yeah, love it too. Susanne Cox really has a great voice....give me chicken skin....and im not religious at all......its amazing what a voice can do with u./sorry for the grammar.......im s swede...LOL
WOW! That was a great song! FANTASTIC! I need to feature them on my radio program sometime in the future. They bring a fresh sound to Bluegrass Gospel Music. bruinebeer99 thanks for sharing this video.
I just LOVE this old Gospel Song! I first heard it sung by the GREAT George Jones. But I'm so happy I found The Cox Family perfoming it, cause I've looked long and hard for it. Thanks SO MUCH bruinbeer for posting it!!!
I love love the lead singer's voice. We got this CD when i was young and I listened to it for the first time today in a long time. It brought back a lot of memories.
The purest form of family harmony, and the best I've ever heard! Lucky to have seen them perform, and they are true masters of their vocal instruments!!I Love Bluegrass!!!!!
Does anyone know if the Cox Family is still performing? I read that they had been involved in a serious auto accident a few years ago, and haven't seen any appearances scheduled for them currently.???
excellent harmonies and musicianship. by the way, the three young ladies waiting backstage are the Peasall sisters. they are on you tube also. give them a listen.

This was from the Down from the Mountain: Live Concert Performances by the Artists & Musicians of O Brother, Where Art Thou? album. Great album and companion to the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack.
The Cox Family is one the few PURE Bluegrass bands ever...thanks you all for reminding us that not all good music is a thing of the past....God Bless, Love you Susanne!!!
Thank you for posting, Have all their albums; thanks to Alison Krauss that made them cross over to new popularity. They were to play in NY together a few years ago but was cancelled. Never did get to see the Cox Family. Luckyly did see Alison a few times. Best to all. Please more :o)
They made four albums with Alison, from 1992 thru 1996, "Everybody's Reaching OuT For Someone", "Beyond The City", "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow", and "Just When Were Thinking Its Over"... I currently have two of their albums. I would love to see more live preformances. Such an amazing group!
