What is a tool? I understand that the term is demeaning but I have heard it used in too many different situations to actually understand its meaning. I thought it meant "someone who only does thiungs for others" which shouldn't be an insult but be an indicator of somone who is selfless (though that meaning obviously does not manifest itself here).
