@psychomaniac76584 Not really there were only three people in DX and they just had fun with everything. NWO had like 50 members and tried to take over WCW.
@psychomaniac76584 WWF's In Your Houses always did ppvs themed on one of their superstars though. In Your House Rock Bottom, In Your House Beware of Dog.
@psychomaniac76584 DX was no ripoff of nwo, both groups were orchestrated toghether by shawn,nash,x-pac,hhh,and scott hall when they were known as "the kliq" in wwf. They were gonna start DX than nash, hall, and pac went to wcw where they started nwo & shawn and hhh started DX. But if pac, hall, and nash never left wwf they would of all been in DX, that's why you sometimes hear DX refer to themselves as "the kliq" the same name as nwo referred to themselves as.
the attitude era basicilly began in 1997, they aired the first WWF ATTITUDE promo at the survivor series a month before this but the whole attitude theme had been going on since the begenning of that year. it originated from an article i remember reading that vince russo wrote in the wwf magazine in late 96 making his fantasy feuds, mcmahon was so impressed he had russo write the shows and edited them from 97, u could call the attitude era the russo era
@prototype00000 What do you mean by 'edited them from 97'? And I wouldn't call the Attitude Era the Russo Era. He was fired sometime in 1998. Long before the Era ended.
i mean russo wrote the entire raw shows from the year 1997 and vince edited out what he liked and what he didnt, he improved what he could and it was just them 2 writing the whole WWF and raw...no writing team or comic book nerds like today. and russo was not fired in 1998 i dont know where you heard that, he left at around october 1999 for WCW and mcmcmahon was pissed off as they had taken the WWF to heights it has never seen since
@prototype00000 Where did you get all this from? I wouldn't know about the writing staff back then. If the two Vince's wrote Raw only then that's cool. It's better than these writer's today. I assumed Russo left in 1998, even though I knew in the back of mind it was sometime in late 1999 because Jarrett returned around that time.
So what you were saying is that McMahon edited out Russo's stupid ideas? OK, I thought you meant editing the shows, which made me raise an eyebrow, Rocky style.
nah ive followed wrestling for a while so i know, especially from that time period it was the best time ever! jarrett left at the same time russo did. russo did have some silly ideas but his strengths outweighed his shortcomings in them days, but mcmahon prob did edit out the silly ones and improve the good ones, they made a good team. in mid 98 they hired some writer called ferrara help russo out until he left with russo for WCW in 99 too so it was 3 of them writing for a while
@prototype00000 Ed Ferrera and Vince Russo. LOL Those two were terrible. Same with Michael Hayes and Kevin Sullivan. But yeah, I thought you meant editing shows which kinda irked me because I hate it when WWE edits their DVD releases and SmackDown shows.

This was always the best DX and I hate when people say DX and NWO were the same, sure there is similar qualities, but DX was basically like JR said a sophomore class field trip, telling authority figures to Suck It and DX was more you make the rules we will break them, where NWO was about taking over WCW which worked.
HBK has always been the true ICON, that jackass Mike Tenay in WCW tried calling Piper the Icon and now in TNA he's calling Sting the Icon, those guys are nothing compared to HBK, HBK is the one and only true ICON of wrestling.
I was 17 when this would have been shown and never missed anything WWF wise that was shown in the UK, mainly due to DX! Though i cant remember this, one of the best promo's I've seen from any era.
This promo aired right after the montreal screwjob happened. I will never forget how dumbfounded I was at the end of that PPV. My sister and I just looked at each other and said 'what just happened?'
Ahh this was right when the Attitude Era had begun. I miss these days so much. Fuck all the lighting effects and HD bullshit. Degenerate back into the Attitude Era!!!!
@SinisterManiac Attitude Era kicked off in 1997 after the Montreal Screwjob. This promo aired after the Montreal Screwjob. In conclusion, this was the Attitude Era. Thanks.
@GenericAuthenticity The very first "Attitude" vignette aired moments before the Bret/Michaels Montreal match in 1997.The attitude era really began around 12 months before, when Vince began booking heel v heel, face v face ect. It was given its birth arguably,in November 1996 When a heel Mankind wrestled a heel Steve Austin as a Raw Opening match, the evening after Survivor Series 1996.
@GenericAuthenticity I hear that alot that the attitude era kicked off in 1997 but in my opinion I will always see the attitude era "officially" starting when Austin won the titled @WM 14. there was somethin about that win that just felt right and it truly did feel like a new era ushering in the wwf. though iam more of an HBK fan than Austin, i do think HBK jumpstarted the attitude feel but with austin as champion, it went into full gear.Thats just my opinon though
@Laminateddeffect Well actually there are a few events that you can count as the full mark of the AE. Like you said, Austin's first title reign, or Austin giving the infamous "Austin 3:16" speech. But the reason why it's official starting is 1997 is cos of the Montreal Screwjob. The first time a superstar legitimately got screwed on a live event...very notorious moment that allowed Vince to shift into the attitude feel. But I do agree with you though, Austin definitely brought it into full gear.
@GenericAuthenticity I would have to say 1997. Stone Cold made rumblings in 1996 but 1997 mainly because more people became edgier rather than just one person being edgy in 1996. In 1997 you had DX. You had more renegade gimmicks like New Age Outlaws. You had Stone Cold becoming more mean. You had the Screwjob stemming from the real rivalry of Shawn and Bret. You had Hunter breaking out. Rock joining the Nation. It became a fad to be more controversial and edgy in 1997 which is why AE started.
Big difference between what was TV PG back in 1997 and what is TV PG in 2010, dude. WWE doesn't even remotely 'push it' like they did back then. This promo here is more controversial than an entire WWE Raw today.
In short, WWE is unwatchable shit now with horrible storylines.
