ok so i got into the point that i need to overheat my xbox but when i turn it on, i still get 3 red lights and i left it on for about 2 hours and it doesnt overheat. please reply me. what can i do to get my xbox overheated?
thank you very much, i wasnt really a xbox owner before but i watched some videos about this and i got a broken old 360 from my friend, so with this guide I managed to get it work! now i'm a happy xbox360 owner :)
I tried the Xclamp fix and I followed it step by step. But when I tried to overheat the xbox it would not turn on. The power brick just stays orange and the box shows the 3 Red Lights. I plugged in theDVD drive just like the videos say. Can someone give me advise?
@22teamplayer You probably have 0001, 0002, or 0003 error codes which means your console is pretty much screwed. Look up how to check secondary error codes to verify though.
Thanks Alot this worked for me in 10 minutes tops i tryed using the arctic 5 silver and i had no success so i purchased the thermal compound and it worked i dont know why but for anyone who wants to fix their xbox with the 2 rings or 3 rings trust me this video will work for you everytime Thanks again Xclampkit
LISTEN ALL, just use Goof Off. a big can cost a couple bucks. i fixed two xbox's this week, my first time ever. the scotch tape is a good tip, and dont put too much thermal paste on the cpu/gpu. about the size of a grain of rice, or an apple seed. dont overtighten! i made that mistake, and i had to repeat the process all over. you can skip his overheating step by getting the screws a little more than hand tight. just a little. this is a pretty good guide. thanks buddy!!
I finished the whole process. But when I start it up, it turns on but then after a minute or two it goes back to two red lights, and i cannot turn it off from the front. I have to plug it out from the bottom. Help?
@aeTynoT562 I used 8 x M5x10mm button head 316 stainless steel screws. the ones i bought have a socket type head for an allen key. this helped me get good torque in to them. i also used 1mm nylon washers and 0.8mm stainless steel washers. mine is working perfectly, i laid everything out the same as this video. the only thing i did different was that i completely torqued up the bolts/screws prior to the overheating stage. i picked up everything for around $9.00 including the compound.
This guy helped me till the end for a whole day at as a result i fixed my xbox360 red rings all i can say is there is not a batter tutorial out there then this thanks alote!EG
i didnt put alote of heat sink compuand only a little bit and you no the chip i put the compound on? and the thing that goes over top of the chip do they both have to touch?
i tightend all the screws and when i put dvd drive in and video and power cables in and turn it on its already shows 2 red lights and i can turn it off from front?
@ExplosiveGamlng You may have to tighten the screws a bit more, or you applied too much thermal paste, resulting in poor contact. I will send you a video to an alternative overheating process as well that may help.
@ExplosiveGamlng Heatsink Compound will work. Also I assume you are talking about the heatsink and cpu chip touching. They must make contact, so don't use too much heatsink compound, but don't overtighten the screws either.
@xclampkit I'm not sure what you mean by secondary error you mean. After I finished installing there was 2 red lights 1 and 3 after about 10 minutes of blinking. I then unplugged it and put my 360 back together. Plugged it back up and turned it on and it still gets red 1,3, and 4 lights blinking.....
I bought one of your kits and have followed all instructions as guided. When I try to do the overheat process, the xbox immediately goes into "overheat" mode (right when I turn it on, not 2 to 3 minutes after) and blinks the two red lights, turning off the gpu before it gets hot.
@phippy44 I will send you a link to a video via private message with an alternative overheat process, which uses the fan to cool off the cpu, so it does not turn off.

Umm.... I'm just a bit curious. What happens if you reassemble a 360 without the thermal paste?

Use Arctic Cleaner to remove the thermal paste!!

In the overheat process, you don't connect the fan, is this correct?

Can i Still Fix the Xbox 360 RROD if i dont have a dvd drive inside of it??
IProKaZ 7 months ago
@IProKaZ yes you can. The light in the middle will just stay blinking
TheIronman268 6 months ago
@TheIronman268 yeah i already fixed it and i know the light blinks :)

What is the purpose of the "overheat" process? Doesn't make sense. Why can't you skip this step?
shawnspeed3 8 months ago
@shawnspeed3 You don't "have" to do it. It helps to fuse the heatsinks to the chips.

This Method is the most succesful: Llamma's method!
I have Fixed many xbox with it! :)
I don't understand why you don't reassemble the fan...?
The CPU will overheat before the GPU have a chance to overheat...

What is the baking process for? Is it just so the bios can register an overheat?
also is it worth lapping the heat sinks?
I'm helping my mate out with one of these!
