It´s fun like sonething modern and actual in his time becomes part of history with the years. Shure if a kid see this he'll think taht is "old and simple" compared with the new FX. In my opinion this is one of the great sequence excellent planned and filmed. The old school FX was an awesome job. Thanks for being part of childhood.
@myusernameistaken23 Yeah that scene with Donald and Daffy, what Donald says is widely misinterpreted! But that's mainly because you can't hardly understand a world he says lol. He actually says, according to the script, "doggone stubborn nitwit" lol.
I bet he had lots of fun doing this kind of acting. Lots of pretending and markers and such so he would get an idea of where the toon was supposed to be standing. That's so cool.
I dunno. Hearing Mickey giggle unsurreptitiously "Yeah, ha ha, you can can get killed!" (Emphasis on the "you" and "killed") is stupifyingly hilarious. xD
Blue screens and green screens are the same technology. In fact, some places use blue screens still. What I remember reading about it was the green gave better contrast, and was less likely to affect items worn, as anything near that shade of blue they used, would be affected by the chromakeying process.
Freaking amazing performance. As good as the animation is, I would argue the acting is almost better, because of how flawless they can put in the animation after and have the actors performance match up so well! Much better than Looney Tunes "Back in Action" or even "Space Jam" ever did years later.
He's such a convincing actor! Must have a good imagination to work like that when almost everything you interact with you don't really see while acting.
This sounds crazy, but the crossover of real cartoony characters with real people, in here, was more convincing than some movies with CGI. Some.
@wizardwarrior713 Especially when it doesn't look like their looking at them at all. There are some movies that were made AFTER rodger rabbit that were worse.
Wow, he's an incredibile actor! I'd never pull it off like that. And the camera angles and wires were genius.
I thought they used computers, but in another video, I saw that they use no computers, it was traditionally drawn, they hired a special effects team and puppeteers to make it seem the Cartoons were holding real items. Pretty incredibile just for one movie. It turned out great, though. My god, something that may looked so simple, is more complicated than it expected. :O
Damn that is so crazy to watch. He went though alot to make this movie. Pretty amazing what they did back then. I wish the rescession would make filmmakers go back to doing stuff like this and working harder instead of just relying on cgi.
Very interesting to see the comparison. Bob Hoskins' (@ 1:02) head was on the top of the floor, but the rest of his body was underneath it, giving the impression he was flattened.
way harder than it looks.

Brilliant and interesting. It must of bin easier to do him in toontown since bringing the toons in their real world was difficult. Amazing film.

That's 'cause they didn't do chroma keying through computers until technology became as modern as nowadays.
tpirman1982 2 years ago
@SUPERMARIOSONICX The filmmakers did consider using computers but didn't because they felt it would be too costly and time-consuming.

Well, stand-ins are essential to make the animation blend in with live-action scenes.

wow... it's very disillusioning when you know how it's done, but it answers allot of questions.
i always though he was just looking at nothing(in the direction the director told him) i had no idea he had targets.

I think we figured out that WFRR was made with a blue screen effect. CGI just isn't what it's all cracked up to be.
