I have trouble finding transitions to solos....I can do scale runs but i am trying to find the right single notes or chords to transition into good solos. any tips?
Um, what about Al di meola and paco de lucia? Mediterranean Sundance??? 1976??? I love malmsteen, but lets not give him too much credit. Lucia would blow him out of the water. This is my favorite scale patter in the world, btw. I tend to overuse it in improv...
@Sagaterious Lol I know he is pretty good ive watched his other videos before. Ive just seen others post the same so I thought I would as well. I have actually learned some valuable things from watching him :)
holy fuck, this video totally just set a lightbulb off in my head, that ascending exersize he does up the neck can be done with any shape of any scale cause every third string you end up back at the octave, wow that just made shredding so much easier, try it, if you know what this means do an A Dorian and skip the 4th scale degree while playing the 7th on the A string still, then repeat at the octave, and then the next, badass huh? works with everything, diminished is even more wicked
All bullshit aside, this guy is very talented with an array of instruments. Bass, drums, keyboard and guitar. He should have done one more take once he was warmed up and had all the kinks worked out. Search his name on the Tube and you'll see all his stuff.
hey stop trollin all the other guys from expert village cut out their mistakes but this guy is not affraid to make mistakes so go fuck ur self and remember its ok to make mistakes (rule dose not apply when playin on stage then its just a fail)
@Kirkfan410 He uses 'strat' style ESPs. look at the video for one. It isn't a fender strat, just EPS strat like model, ive seen these at shops before. W\hile Kirk uses mostly ESP's he uses a crap load of other varieties as well
@jakezdpreez he prefers gibson, and now a days, he doesnt use esp anymore. the band had a contract with esp for something like 15 years, and it ran out. hetfield said in an interview that he was so sick of esp guitars by the time it ran out, and kirk does use strats, watch the video for "one" he uised to use either a strat or a gibson flying v on stage and in recordings before the esp contract
@Metalhead12828 yea he did before he discovered esp he used the flying v but esp is his signature models its his main guitar he also uses jackson guitars and idk what else but i dont think kirk would bother playing guitars he didnt like
If I was going to upload a video on a channel called "expert village" I would at least make sure I didn't make a mistake. Sure everyone makes a mistake but to put it as a lesson is just stupid.
@boxerjr713 It's just like a minor scale but with one little change, if you don't know the minor scale just learn it first then this video is really helpful :)
@SirBurnsicus yeah according only to you. how old are you? you are a kid right? you are not a real musician. there are a lot of good guitars out there, it is up to you how you set it up to your preference.
@scanme214 listen man, i can honestly say it was a joke, if i was being serious i would have come up with a few better reasons than that to support myself. I understand that its up to you, ibanez makes great guitars, and i am a real musician mind you.
@IbanezShredderMan dude wtf are you talking about? look at the headstock it's a C shape. Ibanez do not have the Fender necks, please get your facts straight.
This kind of "harmonic minor" discovery is but the start. There is an unimaginable wealth of scales in oriental music, but unfortunately the cemented western diatonic has already made it impossible to play them on most instruments, with just some few exceptions. The electric guitar is one of these exceptions as it provides so many ways to change pitch "on the fly". It is subtle but is works wonders. You can go even for intervals like an eighth of a tone - but of course it needs extreme control.
@TheMaddoxfam nice, i know nothing about theory, but i Did get accepted into Musicians Institute, hopefully this next semester I will be attending. I know im not as good as thos kids on guitar hero by any means, but im gonna go out on a limb and say I think i can play ;)
Ok, im not going to say im a huge fan but you need to realize "heavy metal" isn't going to teach you some insane Necrophagist riffage. This guy isn't going to play chunky gallopy string skipping Squealy riffs. Hes going to play chord based slower older style more mainstream music. You cant hate for him not playing or showing something that the video doesn't say he will show you. Heavy metal is Alice Cooper or Kiss, even Zep and Hendrix, although many genres are "sub" to Metal and Heavy metal.
thx, I've playing that scale for a while...nice to find something to do other than the scale itself! I also do phrygian dominant in A in all 5 positions! along with Hindu, harmonic major, natural major and minor pentatonic, but not all of them every day, just 1 or 2 scales per day in all 5 positions usually, except when I'm still learning the scale...so far, I've never met a scale I didn't like, at least that's what I claim! And I learned it all on the internet and youtube!
just curious...i only have 3 fingers to work with long story as to why but just curious if there are ways to make the harmonic minor using only fingers
@realjuvelive The scales define what notes you have to use to stay in key. For instance, the A natural minor is A B C D E F G and then back to A. That means you can't use any chords that have sharp or flat notes. So if you were going to play a B chord you'd have to do a diminished triad, B D F. You could also play a C major chord, C E G. That's basically what scales are for.
@theindians190 if you willing to spend the 1500$ to get it the jackson phil demmel signature kind or the rr24 also known as the jackson alexi signature both have emgs lock frt 0200 floyd rose and wicked fast necks
@theindians190 thats because the standard stratocaster doesn't have humbuckers, put em in and strats are godly awesome. I have an American Standard, i Must say that its better than any ESP i've Played.
strats are perfectly fine for metal. You just have to set them up right e.g. right amp and maybe the right pedal. But then again thats what you have to do to any other guitar anyway.
not true! its not important what kind of guitar brand you're using! the sound is mostly coming form the humbuckers and the amp, throw on a good metal humbucker on a fender and it will sound amazing(did this myself)!

Well what is the purpose of the scales ? major - minor natural - harmonic - melodic ?
realjuvelive 1 year ago
@realjuvelive The scales define what notes you have to use to stay in key. For instance, the A natural minor is A B C D E F G and then back to A. That means you can't use any chords that have sharp or flat notes. So if you were going to play a B chord you'd have to do a diminished triad, B D F. You could also play a C major chord, C E G. That's basically what scales are for.
