  • thot hopkins edged it aswell.u can tell calzaghe never thot a brit cud come away from home to fight a champ and do no real damage or dominate the fight but still win..his body language says it all.

he followed hopkins around the ring throwing slapping flurries to look effective.

only reason it was close was cos hopkins gassed, a young hopkins would have destroyed calzaghe...

  • I'm British and can remember feeling a bit dirty as Calzaghe clearly lost. The judge who give the decision in Hopkins favour had the score right. Rematch was the honourable thing and Joe ducked it. Welsh coward !

  • Im also white and I had Bernard winning 7 rds and Joe 5 rds. The overall judging was eerily almost similarly bad as the Pernell Whitaker-De La Hoya fight. In both cases established veteran kingpins soundly outboxed an undefeated more marketable fighter in tactical dull fashion yet they both got hosed by the judges(& Jim Lampley's commentary)

  • Now can you make one of the pascal fight that hopkins just won? :)

    well done

  • the way you guys broke it down was outstanding! and im from the UK! so let me tell you this! i tottaly agree with you guys! iv'e been a huge fan of bernard ever since i first saw him fight! he cleary won the fight! and calzaghe slithered his way with a split decision and denied hopkins a rematch! Get this right Calzaghe Fans! When he won the title in 1997 or 8 he never wanted ROY OR BERNARD! but when he see's that they are old he jumps in! He is a fake an always will BE!

  • Thank you so much for putting some Sanity into the whole Undfeated Bullshit of Calslappy.

He did not land much with substance. The Crowd influenced the Judges as many of his slappy flurries missed or were blocked, but somehow CompuBox registered them while Hopkins rocked him with more meaningful fights.

Calslappy was schooled in this fight,he was beaten but the Judges gave him the W.

That's why he retired and never wanted a rematch coz he knows Hopkins nuetralised his much vaunted speed .

    45-1.

  • Is Calzaghe the kinda homo champ that Brits are proud of? He lost and then jumped around like a fool... really like a kid getting the toy he wanted for christmas when they announced his name. but what really kills it is the butt hump shit he did when B Hop was bent forward. gay champ, nothing to be proud of. admit you lost the damn fight and get some respect back!!!

  • Disgraceful once you review it, though hard to say if it was crooked judging, crowd influence, inexperienced judges (Gimza) or just a poor eye for good inside fighting. Hopkins definitely won, though he should have closed better and won the 12th. Thanks for the great analysis, now I know for sure that B-Hop was robbed.

  • when a boxer doesnt even throw and land punches properly and slaps does not connect cleanly he does not deserve to win.

draw atleast. think roach trained bhop for this one,and bhop needed to do that bit more to make sure the fight was not close and the robbery was not allowed to happen without clear notice of it.

  • Hey bro, enuff respect for making this video, u definatly broke this fight down realy well. Any1 with a half a brain cell can c that b hop won this fight.

Im a brit, n i can say safely say that b hop to joe to skool.

    Respect!

  • At the end of the day its fairly obvious, most ppl think that Hopkins got screwed because of the "white boy" comments, due to both white judges Giampa (who also ruled against hopkins vs taylor) and Ted Gimza giving the nod to Calzaghe, Adelaide Byrd was the only black judge.

However people forget that in 2002, Hopkins was successfully sued $650,000 by HBO for accusing senior execs, including Lou Dibella of taking bribes.

Who you think HBO wanted to "win"?

    Welcome to boxing politics!

  • @Cowardzaghe you heard hopkins on "on the ropes boxing radio" when he talks about the MAFIA of today's boxing industry and how they rule what happens! check it! he is the most intelligent and most gifted athlete in boxing today!

  • This was great to watch Bruce. An english betting site had Joe +250 in the in running betting at the final bell just FYI.

  • Excellent analysis. Just shows how boxing can be scored so many different ways.

  • thanks for the great vid Bruce. Keep up the good work bud!

  • this is the most sensible commentating i've ever seen with regards to this fight. usually just see a bunch of idiots who believe joe calzaghe is the second coming and can do no wrong. and thanks boxing blitz for uploading this. i could see the fight was fixed just from listening to the commentators. i wish roy jones would've commentated that fight. regardless of his personal feelings towards hopkins, roy was always an accurate commentator.

  • You can see his balls pouncing from that punch....

  • i have to agree with you bruce, hopkin's did win. this is no mayweather castillo, you can watch this 10 more time's and still not score joe as the winner. maybe i was just influenced by the commentator's, my own bias and that fact that i watched it in cardiff with some of my welsh friends. the crowd won this fight for joe, although the crowd would of never been so against hopkins if he didnt make that stupid comment. so even though i admitt hopkin's won, i still dont have much sympathy for him.

  • Great vids, im from wales and i thought hopkins schooled him ive never liked calzaghe cos he slaps. He doesnt box he slaps! Hopkins is a true ring master and for his age its amazing. Fuck compubox its fucking bollox as you just witnessed. Great vids keep um coming.

  • when i first started watchin this i didnt think id sit through all 6 parts. damn good vid man. remember though, the judges and commentator dont have slo-mo to better analyze, and they're only viewing the fight from one angle. calzaghe and b-hop know who really won though, why do you think after his next fight he rushed into retirement. he didn't want a rematch

  • I'll forever be a B-Hop fan. A living legend--and, in the words of Lampley, he's a man that "never needed approval." He's beaten the odds his whole life--that's a defining attribute to his very existence--and he's constantly finding new mountains to climb, and new territory to conquer.

  • I'm a Brit and I watched this fight with more than 10 people and nobody in the room thought calzaghe won. We all thought as Hopkins said he took him to school and really made calzaghe look average. Good vid

  • everyone knows that hopkins won that fight, he was robbed, even white people know this, they wont admit it though....

  • @SuperRehmat Oh really, "they" wont admit it, are you even aware of the race that I am? The guy who made this video series? Chill man. Chill.

  • @SuperRehmat I am white and I'll admit he was robbed :( I am also British too.

  • bernard shouldnt have let it go to the judges things like that happen

  • calzaghe more myth than legend! another boxer nurtured by frank warren....no one really even talks about his undefeated record cus it was no one special apart from Bhop and jones jnr, and as you just proved he didnt beat bhop, and jones jnr was past his best!!! u ask random person who calzaghe fought and theyd prob only know thos two, and if you lucky that bum off the contender!!!!

  • bruce, u actually liked what hopkins was doing in that fight?. coming in with the right hook followed by a headbutt, a clinch and 2 or 3 dirty punches. then he faked atleast 2 low blows. once joe adjusted and took a step back b4 engaging, hopkins was the one falling in off balance. for all the clean punches bhop landed, i cant respect the way he did it and i would really like to know why you do respect it since i know u know boxing.

  • @basketballfreak24 Why I respect it? That was an old school execution. I hated Bernard Hopkins for years, hated him, but what he did was similar to what the fighters of yesteryear would do. I mean if we are gonna nitpick Hopkins, why don't we nitpick Calzaghe for all of the hitting to the back of the head he was doing? The way you win a fight is by landing clean punishing blows on your opponent and making your opponent miss. Hopkins clearly did that.

  • @basketballfreak24 Mike Tyson was known to turn punches over and land elbows, Floyd Mayweather will hold his forearm/elbow out on the inside to distance a fighter and clock them with a right hand, Joe Calzaghe punched people in the back of the head more than anyone you will find in the modern era, each guy has his edge he uses to gain an advantage. It is a fight after all, a standup fight. If it was merely a sport of aggression guys like Mayweather would have quite a few more losses.

  • @basketballfreak24 I do want to thank you for watching the videos, and I totally appreciate that you respectfully disagree with me. That's fair, and I don't take it personal because you watched every part.

  • @basketballfreak24 Just remember though that you are disagreeing with not only me, but Mike Tyson, Freddie Roach, Carl Froch, Yahoo Sports, the Associated Press and yes even ESPN who all saw the same fight I did, and many more, too many to list.

  • @basketballfreak24 Joe Clazaghe didn't win that fight and as Boxing tradition suggest the challenger has to convincing beat the champion by either hurting him or dominating him and Joe did neither.

He didn't land the clean blows and he didn't hurt the champion all he did was throw a few wild slapping punches most of witch were picked off or landed on the gloves and shoulders.

  • Slap boxer was jumping up and down like he just won the british lottery.

  • Bhop is 1 of the rare boxers I never hear any1 say anything bad about. And know he's gonna fight pascal. what a warrior.

  • Wow great video bhop is a true old school fighter at heart! He won that damn fight. Fuck that slap boxer!

  • I've argued with brits about this one. They couldn't seem to come up with a good reason why I shouldn't have scored it for Hopkins when I suggest that we forget about all the punches Joe landed on Bernard's arms and shoulders. Just count the scoring blows that landed. That's it. Forget about shoe shining and flash. Landed blows. Period.

What a joke that Giampi only had Bernard getting a score of 111 despite scoring a KD in this fight. Unreal.

  • it was a close fight a draw would have been fair

  • Bruce you the man homey!!!...EXCELLENT job!!

  • PWNED

  • Hopkins won the fight.

  • Well documented, point proven, and it's undeniable..Hopkins clearly won this fight. Thank you for this.

  • Nails in the coffin Rip Calzaghe lol This win would have put bernard even further on the pound for pound lists..But hes still on the list regardless and fighting for lightheavyweight belt so either way hes last one laughing.

  • Good video

  • great video..

i had it 114-113 hopkins too

there was a round i couldve given to calzaghe so it wouldve been 114-113 calzaghe at best

no idea how the other judges gave those comprehensive scores for joe.

it was a hard fight to score though. seemed pretty close (if u score joe's slappy punches)

i do feel that bernard gassed out a bit towards the end of the fight.

the fight makes me conclude 2 things:

a younger bhop wouldve destroyed joe

in that fight joe wouldve won a 15 rnd match

    (IMO)

  • dude was praying to god b4 they read the score card, good shit bruce. i been uploading more stuff around this fight and i noticed b-hop got the fucked up end of the stick overall. got treated wrong and everything but he's still doing his thing, plus joe's knows in his head he didnt win the fight. benard owned em, u proved ur case man. case closed.

  • great job
