  • is not having a top in it make it use up more coal?

  • closed top forge hold the heat in better but also is restricting what you can fit in.

  • @patrinrom hey m8,thats a nice furnace.... why not dig a ditch :P

  • not allways

  • would it be better if the forge is closed at the top?

  • Nice forge

  • steel burns at 2000 degrees f your telling me that will get hot enough to hammer weld a steel part ? i'm a welder and wanting to do more with a forge setup it would help me a lot if i know more details about this if you could please -thanks-Derek

  • @cowsrcool7658, there are ways to use sand and ground up sea shells for flux as well, i think shells are used because of the lime in them so you might be able to use lime for it as well

  • Yeah dude, this video is cool ! 8) Btw, why's the name kovachi ? :D

  • @liuntika Kovachi means blacksmith in romani

  • @patrinrom Aha. :) It has the same meaning in hungarian also, but as far as i know, it's a slavic loanword in hungarian. The original one was vasverő or vasgyúró I do think.

  • i have a question. my forge is charcoal and made of bricks it gets very hot and i notice that the steel sometimes gets to hot that it turns into a sparkler, but the color of the steel is still yellow not white. is it still hot enough to forge weld with?

  • @cowsrcool7658 yes it is. do you have the forge outside with no covering over it if so it is harder to see the colors well.i will do a post on forge welding soon

  • @patrinrom yea my forge is outside in the sun so i guess that explains it. also are there any alternative fluxes than borax

  • is that air duct stuff galvanized?

  • @comicfan21 yes it is galvinized but the riser and air flow keep it from burning off the zinc

  • Nice job Jason!

Good to see the new blower :) Good explanation...

  • I really like the forge setup in this video! Very nice. Im gona try to replicate this soon in the shop and if im able to ill send a video.
