Im in the firm belief this song is about accepting death and looking forward to an after life. The door is a coffin, a sort of portal into what many would consider another realm. The woman represents any sort of familiar ties to this life that may hinder that acceptance but ultimately need to be overcome. The ending with the words "don't follow me" are a message that your time will come when it does and that shouldn't rush to it or try to follow more "patience is a virtue" than antisuicide psa.
