Easy you have two solid drill bit kinda tips with a pattern that allows the liquid to travel up the spiral. the rest is just plain ol ferro fluid you can buy a kit for like 25 bucks. the magnets underneath they dont never show but its just a magnet under the clear bowl. the solid objects or drill bits makes it appear to become solid but its not. looks cool though :)

it's very hard to make this, unless you have something that can make 10 nanometer size magnets. you can buy this at united nuclear under magnets.

lol easy to make

1. put oil in a cup (like cooking oil) about as much as you want

2. take a printer laser toner and take the fine black powder mix that on a 1:1 ratio with the oil

3. stir fo rlike 10minutes

4 put it on a plate or something you don't mind staining

5. put a magnet under it and have some fun!

Yeah, thats the diy way, but it's not as effective as the high quality stuff from united nuclear. In fact, a better way to make your own would simply be to get some iron powder and mix it in oil. That or some how crush a rare earth magnet into powder and use that.

The fluid is easy to make.... 100% vegetable oil.... and ink jet toner....mixed.... and then a strong magnet or electromagnet

The substance has already been posted. It is called ferrofluid. Magnaview fluid is a brand so it may or may not be Magnaview fluid.
