Hey, i want to make a comic, i have characters, story and well a pretty big idea, but im not good at drawing, what do you suggest, should i find an artist or try it myself?
I was inspired to make graphic novels because of manga. Takeshi Obata's realistic artwork with Death Note heavily influenced my attention to detail and realism. I still do my graphic novels in Western Format (regular left to right panels) but I mix cultures of Manga and Western Style.

@JFMstudio You can do better than that. Trust me you got potential, but you lack on some things. Theres always room for improving, and whdn you get better you should send it to companies, and see if they'll publish it. But yea always practice

Don't say its overrated just because you don't like it. And maybe the person might just wanna make a comic based off of Manga. @DarksideSlasher Manga isn't as easy as you say. Its actually really hard for most people, and it doesn't lack detail. It depends on whos drawing it. Like u say u can draw it easily, but yours could be more Americanized. You have to study the art. And yea Manga was made for kids & teens. It doesn't matter if YOU THINK the art lacks whatever you think, it matters if the artist actually puts his passion into it, and gives it his ALL. @ymk19 I agree that the manga style is overly done, but I see my style as a mixture of both manga and cartoon. I just like to encourage young artists to be influenced by many different forms of art. If an artist just has one influence, then their work will most likely be a rip off of that.

@ymk19 Dude, this may be anime inspired, but it's certainly not anime style. It's MUCH more cartoonish. Compare this to, say, art from DN Angel, Elfen Lied, or even the (American) Web comic Blip. Those are all manga style - this, not so much.
A tip:When u gonna show us how you draw at your computer you can buy or download a program who records the screen like camtasia studios or hypercam instead of record all with your camera it's absolutely much easier!...
In school I see something then start a one page comic about it show it to my friend gets a laugh then shove it in my desk, I do this so much my teacher boosted my art mark and wrote on my report card that im constntly writing cartoons in class so yeah
Stretching and compressing type is frowned upon in the typography world... but I'm no specialist who will harp on you about it. Looks good... you know... except the ground that is....
Do you take a picture of the cover for any reason other than not having a scanner? Seems kind of odd... but otherwise I don't have any real criticism. Keep doing what you do, good job ;)
@AntonHIHI just draw them nude with pencil first but soft that wouldnt ruin ur draw then draw the clothes arround the boddy but try no to closed at it.. then the hands just look at ur hands and pose ur hand and try to draw it ^.^ hope u understand me kause my english suck's hehe but thats what i do with my anime (u.u) i always pose or look at people pictures and draw them like anime u kan try that too hope this helps...^.~
i am a troditional comic artist, i dont use a computer and i don't use colours i just use inks because i make manga's and most manga's are in black and white but im used to it by now
@AntonHIHI Hands and feet are allways one of the moust difficuld once. Hard to draw clothes? Look at pictures in the paper and so on. draw peoples cloths. after a while you get used to it. same with hands. just draw alot of hands, and then draw a body with hands, after a while you get used to it and it looks better.
for me i just write a story summary of thoughts for my comic..then i think of characters and draw them out until i find the perfect apperance
then i just draw out the comic with a pencel and papper...im almost finished wit this batman comic nd im just starten on this spiderman one....i just do it for fun nd for pratice...im only 15 so im getten ready for the future...my mian goal is to play basketball for college nd then be a comic artist

You seem computer literate, how come you didn't color your comic with your photoshop, instead of colored pencils? Thanks though man, I'm in the same boat of making my own. Horrible writer though, so I'm trying to brush up at the local college.

@AntonHIHI Hands and feet are allways one of the moust difficuld once. Hard to draw clothes? Look at pictures in the paper and so on. draw peoples cloths. after a while you get used to it. same with hands. just draw alot of hands, and then draw a body with hands, after a while you get used to it and it looks better.

for me i just write a story summary of thoughts for my comic..then i think of characters and draw them out until i find the perfect apperance
then i just draw out the comic with a pencel and papper...im almost finished wit this batman comic nd im just starten on this spiderman one....i just do it for fun nd for pratice...im only 15 so im getten ready for the future...my mian goal is to play basketball for college nd then be a comic artist

You seem computer literate, how come you didn't color your comic with your photoshop, instead of colored pencils? Thanks though man, I'm in the same boat of making my own. Horrible writer though, so I'm trying to brush up at the local college.
