  • is this the most technicallty demanding Smiths song, certainly looks and sounds that way. The speed at which Johnny rips through the opening chords is crazy, its what 5 or 6 chords in the first 4 seconds?

  • Wow, amazing job!

  • i love ur guitar!

  • do you have to have a clamp for 6 strings? I don't have 1...Can I use anything else as a clamp?

  • The way you play it is really beautiful. Marr would be impressed.

  • how much is this and what year was it made, looks beautiful and you play it well =]

  • rich sod.

  • lucky bastard, hahaha give me one =(.

  • they are 1300 on a music website called gak so ...

  • lucky you dude.

  • Beautiful!! Is this a hard guitar to play at first and then gets easier? I hear the neck is thinner than normal.'

  • Yes the thin neck can be quite cramped if you have fat fingers.

  • however ladies like fat fingers!

  • @danielearwicker Have you heard "These Charming men" Daniel a Smiths tribute band from Dublin

  • Daniel is a lot better tbh. Nice try though.

  • you can't slap a ric.

  • haha of course they make 12 string

    ide kill for one

  • you can cheap ones of ebay but they're like staggs

but rickenbackers are for rich gods which this guy is definately a god

  • i bet he sold one of his livers¨

  • maybe or sold his semen

  • hhehe

  • People only have one liver, sir.

  • you´re right, i actually speak spanish, so i confused it with the kidneys (riñones); i should have looked it into a dictionary

  • i didn't even know that rickenbacker made a 12 string

  • Seriously? Thats what theyre most famous for i think dude. Oh well, it sounds great i think

  • Nice work, D. That 330-12 sounds awesome....

  • So amazing! Congratulations! Your playing is so great! One of my favourite Smith's songs. I want to buy a Rick 360 12 string.

  • incredible.

  • tempo is just right its a fast past song wicked tallent m8

  • I LOVE the sound of the rickenbacker!

  • Brilliant!

  • Good job but not the whole song... slow down the play too..

  • its the right speed

  • Excellent work, you only need some drums and a bass in the background to kick ass :-)

  • I'd probably marry that guitar if i had the chance, lol.

  • Now, that's one I couldn't really figure out. Not like that anyway.

  • Cool....check out the version on These Charming Men myspace,it's rockin!

  • Excellent. You got the picking pattern down to a T. And excellent guitar as well...Rick's are indeed the best.

  • seriously if i had the time and money i'd get a ric and amp as well, just to play Smiths instrumentals

  • It really helped!! thanks, now I can play it too!!

  • Wow, that close-up really helped! Thanks!

  • johnny marr: "when writting girl afraid i was imagining how little richard might sound playing guitar" fantastic.

  • I enjoyed it 5 stars

  • Seriously mate...your video's are the dogs bollox!

I'd love to know if you rate Johnny Marr as the greatest guitarist of his generation?

  • I can hear the imaginary bass while i listen to this! :)

  • Very good, brother! Sounds very similar! Keep it up! :)

  • man im getting more and more respect to Marr's playing

have you seen him play with Neil Finn covering "There is a Light that Never Goes out"? look it up here on you tube..Marr plays awesome the whole concert

  • how does a rickenbacker with distortion sounds?

  • Listen to R.E.M.'s 'Green' album, I think a lot of that is Ric 360/12 with some overdrive. Or look on my previous videos for "Disturbance at the Heron House / The One I Love - REM".

  • Johnny Marr personally taught me how to play this riff. seriously!

  • All your Smiths stuff is great Daniel. I've been a huge Smiths fan for 23 years and never knew how Marr did what he did. I've viewed this clip at least 20 times and I just keep going back to it. I hope the Smiths "nation" finds your clips. Please post more songs! I also like hearing about the background of how you made the clips and learned the songs. If you are an example of a "younger" Smiths fan-base, then I pleased and amazed. Great work and thanks again.

  • Thanks, you're very kind. When I first heard the Smiths (around the time they split up) it was like hearing what I loved about the Beatles, but faster and with better lyrics. I did the first Headmaster Ritual clip just on a whim about a month ago because I couldn't stop playing it.

  • I'll do that. I like hearing about people first impressions of the Smiths and see if it was like mine. I was blown-way in '84..an instant impression that left me speechless. Keep going you've only just begun!

  • sorry nine times forgot trinity college dublin 9 dec 83

  • nice tech , now play rubber ring , please??

  • My fingers did get a bit sore mainly because it took all day to learn. New version uploaded yesterday with bass part and verse/chorus, plus "how to play" section - see my channel.

  • nice guitar as well...bet he fractured his little finger playing that

  • I bled my fingers dry when I was learning how to play this song.

  • fucking great! There's not better than to finally get a Marr tune right. They're so freakin hard!!!

  • Thank You! That was great!
