i came here because i learned that this guy is my cousin. I remember back in 2nd grade when my mom told me. Started listening to him about three years ago. Now im 14 and im addicted to my cousins music. Sure hope to meet him one day.
THE PASSAGE TOWARDS MY SOUL.. OUTSTANDING MATERIAL!..LONG LIVE THE 70'S JAZZ FUNK ERA!.. DAMN IM SO LUCKY TO HAVE EXP THE VERY BEST OF JAZZ FUNK... WE WILL NEVER WITNESS SUCH GR8NESS AGAIN @Gilach thank you for such an OUTSTANDING GEM!
Lonnie Liston Smith produced some of the finest far away yet down to Earth music in my recollection. He incapsulated the realm of smooth floating music.
Still remember the first time I heard this album. I was in the Air Force. I was sleeping when I awoke to the sounds of lovemaking from my room mate's bed. Then I noticed the music. The next day I didn't even mention the girl. I asked the bro who was on the stereo. He laughed for a full five minutes.
Its so lame when people say in videos "whoever doesn't like this doesn't like music." ~.~ You all know who you are cuz that shit gets rated up all the time.
Have Mercy! Another time & place! I am so there! Do It Lonnie!!!
Go Lonnie, Go Lonnie, Go Lonnie Gone! My Man never did me wrong when it came to settin the mood and never will! Ok I'm done now but Lonnie ain't never gonna be!
this is really "space jazz!" Doesn't get any better! Even after 35 years...this album/C.D. still holds its own. Great "mood jazz." Thanks so much for the post.
I want to light some awapuhi incense & eat a bowl of tropical exotic fruits. Pineapple, papaya, strawberries, kiwi, & guava. While sitting on my back deck as the breeze gently whisps the hair from my ponytail across the back of my neck, giving me a feathery tickle.
One of many classic's by a keyboard genius at 55 yrs old I feel blessed to come up in this type of musical atmosphere. you can only imagine how good a joint was with this type of jazz bar- b-cuing your ears.
Nobody can create an hypnotic, enchanting "chill out" mood like LLS. This music just puts you in a peaceful, happy trance.(without the need for substances)
This song makes me imagine of those pillow parties during the 70's, where everyone would lounge on huge throw pillows on the floor by the pool.. . Afro sheen, bell-bottom pants, the heady smell of ______ . Kaftans, . . men with long sideburns, .. and fitted stretch shirts. Drinks everywhere, ... laughter, ...
Mr.Smith was a genius whose energy was his passion for the enlightenment of man through his harmonic melodies and He was most avant garde as his music will attest.
THIS is music for the Soul. It takes you to a place where there can be no negativity. It leaves me in awe of how beautiful and touching true art can be.
I loved Lonnie's work in the early 80's, but he's got stamina and has been cranking funk and bluesy acid jazz since the the early 70's. Never heard this song until now and damn -- his trip started waaaay back. Love the LLS groove!!!
Thanks for the vid, sweet one. I love LLS...A great among greats! So many great jazz players out there, living and deceased...brings back such sweet memories. Peace, TAA
Thank You Gilach for Uploading this song, long time searching and finally the wait is over. This is one of my favorites From Lonnie Liston Smith and I'm going to enjoy myself on this day; Last time I play this song was in 1984... It made me go back, way back in time...When I Was a Youngster and Things Were So Different.

Strolling down memory lane.
Back in my jazz radio days I felt good playing
the music of Lonnie Liston Smith on some of my shows!
But it wasn't until years after I left radio that I got to meet
Lonnie Liston Smith in Richmond Virginia at the local YMCA.
The both of us had finished working out & we got to talk & share
stories about our favorite subject jazz music.
