@djhivesdotcom please don't comment on my comment if you don't have a clue what i meant. I know the car is supposed to be small, i was just saying he looks cramped.
@djhivesdotcom yea, but my question was aimed at someone who has driven this car and could say: "yes, they are cramped" or something like "no, they are surprisingly big inside!" not a comment from some stupid troll on the internet like you.and like i said in my last comment "I know the car is supposed to be small," so clearly i know its small.
There haven't been any new S2000s for a couple of years. Plus, the high reving nature of it's engine made it really difficult to live with. I've ridden in one, and it's like a constant buzzing, even when you want to relax.
The MX-5 can't be beat, even by the S2000. The Mazda is just a more livable car. The ride is a lot more balanced than the S2000 and is a lot easier to live with on a daily basis. Not to mention the top is a lot easier to use, just unhitch the latches and throw it back!
@Driv300mph its ok, not going to be in the competition because its not in production anymore obviously. The s2k was heavy compared to the mx5. The new subaru brz/ scion frs/ toyota gt86 are more promising than the s2k.
@Driv300mph The S2000 was a showcase for one of the best 4-pot engines ever build: Honda's 2.0 liter V-tec. That said, the Miata had a better chassis, brake feel, handling and steering feel.
Of course there's also the fact that the S2000 isn't in production anymore, and therefore can't win CarandDriver's 10 Best of 2011.
@aqwayne I used to have a Prelude and always wanted a S2K. Now they are very reasonably priced. Ended up running into some success and bought a Cayman S instead. Still envy that high reving and top down goodness.
@jonsimcoe Congrats with yous success! I live in a wealthy environment and see expensive cars to the extent that I have become desensitized to them. It was only on the episode of fifth gear where tiff mentioned that if your doing well you buy a 3 series, if your doing really well you buy a Porsche that it became apparent to me that Porsche's really are pricey. (I knew they were 60K+ but I see more than a dozen daily..) I can't even afford a 3 so what do I know :D
@Driv300mph The Miata is a better overall package than the S2000. The Honda had one of the best 4 cylinder engines in history, but the chassis just wasn't good enough to put the power down well enough. Unfortunately, the 4-cylinder Vtec simply had no torque for normal driving.
The Miata handles much more predictably and is more confidence inspiring on the limit, even if the engine is nothing to write home about.
@Driv300mph That's because it doesn't. I'm with you though, the S2K is great, but it's too powerful. I know it's stupid to say, but that's the beauty of the MX5. You have to understand that Mazda's mix of fun, and "just enough" power make the car the winner of the class.
The s2000 is not as good, too big, to heavy, not as balanced, suspension more numb - high seat backs, weird clutch, ugly interior - the s2000 should have been smaller and lighter - the miata is just an updated lotus elan. Place an s2000 next to an elan and you immediatley see the problem, too big. I love the s2000 but it feels like a vette not a go-kart - more lighter and smaller = more funner, the whole point of the miata! hopefully the next gen will be smaller
Check my new car channel!
And finish my top 5!
Good Luck!

I was looking at a Hyundai Genesis or a Fiat 500 Abarth, but my mind keeps going back to the Miata, the build quality has always been fantastic.

@sunny342 the toyobaru is a coupe not a roadster though. C&C where talking about the Miata's roadsters competitors.

Aren't we forgetting about the Honda S2000? The S2K has the best ingredients of 'em all.

@ilovecats748 I am referring to their comment in the video that the Miata was the only one to get the right ingredients for 22 years.

@Driv300mph Agree, the S is a great machine, have an Ap1, and NA, NB Miata. But as an overall package the MX5 is a superior driving experience imo.

@Driv300mph S2K is not forgiving however, and no old lady will even been seen in one :D I want to save up for a S2K though, amazing car.
