I think Tootie is still upset that Mrs. Garrett didn't let her go to the Jermaine Jackson concert. She kind of reminds me of Sally Struthers doing the "starving children in Africa" ads.
I agree with you 100%! There are no more important PSA's like these stated by well known performers and personalities..who kids can look up to and believe in. We need more PSA's given by real people.
Aaw that is a wonderful messege to send to children
They should show things like this on TV THESE days. I hear alot of kids talk about how snitching is like the 'worse thing in the world' when they dont even know the difference between snitching and helping people, all because they didnt see things like this on TV when they were little or have any common since what so ever.
Oh my goodness, I remember 'One to Grow On!' This really brings back childhood memories. Saturday mornings were the best! Thanks so much for the flashback, BennyMcGhee.
Man, that opening animation brings back a lot of memories. I used to see these every Saturday. The '80s were a great time to be a kid. I wish I could get a time machine!
@briansky10 What's sad is nobody would care now! The reason these worked was kids were familiar with the actors on "One to Grow On" because they watched their shows(A-Team, Cosby, Facts of Life, etc.). They'd do the same setup if they did it now, but what what 5-8 year olds watch "The Office" or "Community" or "Grimm"? None that I know of. It's a shame that things like "One to Grow On" and similar things are left to collect dust now. :(
what's that game at 00:42?? Been trying to find that for years!!! Played on a wooden board with pool cue type sticks to shoot a disc around...what is that thing called???
THANK YOU, common sense!!!! So many kids today aren't being tought that. Sadly they DO need to bring back on to grow on, somany parents aren't teaching their kids any kind of respect OR common sense.
Back then, that was one to grow on. Now in 2008, that's one to get Stole on. Kids today are scared to take a stand because they know that the authorities will not protect them from snitches wrath.
They should make stuff like this now. Kids are awful bad these days. Then they copy movies like 'Jackass' which should be banned, or at least made very difficult to get, and only for adults. Of course adults wouldn't watch it, so it's all BS!!!
I agree we didn't talk back or lie when we were kids because we respected our parents and would have got spanked if we did. I wish they would bring back more videos like this.
Hmm... she is hot (hottest in the show's cast imo), but I never found orthodontics to be much of a turn-on. Haha. Certainly not when I had them. :P But whatever floats your boat...
Shame that today, it's considered "snitching," and is looked down on, but it's good to look back to the days when even halfway crooks get whuppins from neighbors before they got home :).
Oh yea today those other kids would have waited until dark then shivved the snitch and burried him in the sand box and when they found his body the next day the entire park would be shut down until some shit eating politician passed a law requiring surveillance cameras or some other ridiculous over-expensive measure to be implemented at all parks across the country "to protect our children", running up the cost of parks until no one could even afford to go to them anymore.
That was a very ominous silent pause at the end. My opinion: those other kids were never seen again.
