With samurai they have something called a move. In a one on one fight 6 moves would be considered to be a very good fight. So put very simply, the looser died in under 4 moves. Everything went fast. Many peoples didn't even get two moves. It was just off with your head.

Depending on how well the their army is trained they could just win in 1 move depending how each individual is trained.

i think its because they went for the kill. i heard that it was common for two samurai in battle to both strike and kill each other at the same time.

That was before they fought the Mongolions.When they fought them a relized the only reasone they won was beacuse of the weather they changed there tactics to the ones we use today...
