Just wanted to thank you for doing these videos, I just got my bass on Christmas and only played ukulele before then. All of your videos with the tabs have me playing it perfectly by the end of the video. Thanks a lot, you're superman
@chilibro hey, do you mean the place where the straplock is located? if you want too move it too the back of the body (or anywhere else), it sure is possible, but do it very carefully too prevent your wood from bursting.
@Basstard22 what i mean is that im new to bass playing and bought an old used one and one of the straplocks (if that what its called) is missing and i was wondering if i could just buy one and put it on there?
@chilibro yes that's possible :-) best thing to do is taking you bassguitar with you to a local music shop, since you have strapbuttons, and straplocks. straplocks have thicker screws for the attachment, so if there was a straplock before, you can't place a strapbutton back, since that screw is too small.
if you want too see the difference between those straps, just search on google for images.
PLEASE use fingers 1 and 4. If you ever play a fretless, you will never have decent intonation without fingers that are parallel to the frets and NOT at a slight angle. Even if you do not go on to fretless or upright playing, this stretch is unnecessary and puts strain on the muscles. GOOD TECHNIQUE = the most efficient motions, using the least amount of energy needed to get the sound you want.
(more) - Analogy. Imagine walking and running. You MAY be able to walk with straight, stiff legs, and even run for short distances, but you are doing damage to your body, and you will NEVER be able to "fly" and run with endurance with this bad "walking/running" technique. If you don't trust me, trust master teachers like Carol Kaye who has written extensively online about this widespread issue.
what would be the best beginner bass? ive been drumming for a couple of months and want to expand on instruments i play...i would really like to pick up a bass but i dont know what to buy
hey guys, do you think you all could watch my bass vids and drop some comments on em? id appreciate hearing your thoughts. ill be posting some more vids, so you can subscribe if you want. ill return the favor. thanks!
I am completely new to the bass. Your WONDERFULLY incremental way of teaching and your pace, made it easy for me to follow!!! I sat in front of the computer and worked with your lesson!!! This is VERY encouraging to us beginners!!! Keep 'em coming!!!! Thank you so much!!!!
@cbnygiants Ever listened to korn? Red Hot Chili Peppers? Ant-Flag? Hell any good rock band? Bass is anything but boring. Without it any song would sound completely spineless.
@cbnygiants By the looks of @rangersleadtheway10 comment to you, you said bass is "boring". Look up some Flea bass solos, THEN you can say bass is boring.
@cbnygiants it's boring when you're learning it. But once you can play... it's no less kick ass than playing guitar. Listen to some Primus, Iron Maiden, Who, Zeppelin.
Although I don't care for the music style much listen to some psychobilly or rockabilly stuff. it's pretty impressive stuff.
UGGHH CAN SOMEONE ACTUALLY PUT ON "HOW TO PLAY BASIC NOTES ON BASS GUITAR" AND ACTUALLY A VID SHOWING YOU HOW TO PLAY G, D, A, E. ect? im so frusterated!!! please help!!!!!!
blues are still the best..... you are the best tommy vickery...best video ever on youtube for bass tutorial on blues.... do you have more videos for bass guitar Tom? wish to learn more....:).
How old is your bass? That body seems a perfect color match for the headstock. Very rare on natural wood - is it the patina? (Birdsong player)

Maybe you're asking what a fret is. A fret is each of the lines that goes across the neck of your guitar (or bass guitar in this case)

Hee guys,
Really nice lesson.
I've got a tip:
This is a nice pattern, in E,
lets say, after you played this pattern twice in E, do the same, but one string higher
in A
its cool
after u should try to do it in B, but that's a little bit different. Just so you know
