I don't agree with you that the 'complications' you describe are real. Urine retention only happens if the girl is sewn too tightly. Infection occurs only if the cutting and sewing utensils are not clean. Pain is a desirable consequence, not a complication. Menstruation is unaffected unless the girl is sewn too tight. Infertility occurs only with infection. Loss of sexual pleasure is the objective of the procedure so not to be regretted.
First of all these complications have been proven and they are real and it's not something that I just came up with. Most girls have them, and they are hiding because it was embedded in their heads that this is tradition and every girl has to do this to be "righteous'' or ''woman'', which is not true. They also tend to have attachment issues in the earliest days after their circumcision, be it birth or bris. Between this and other observed behavior researchers are saying that these young males have a form of PTSD. Google it. The effects are exactly the same. Any son that'd leave my body remains whole.

Traditions shouldn't hurt someone, Circumcision has many complications like urine retention, infection, pain, menstrual complications, infertility, loss of sexual pleasure. I know back then all of these weren't known but now there are more research and they should stop. No one should go through this for the sake of traditions, Somalis has many traditions and it's time to let go of this.

I don't agree with you that the 'complications' you describe are real. Urine retention only happens if the girl is sewn too tightly. Infection occurs only if the cutting and sewing utensils are not clean. Pain is a desirable consequence, not a complication. Menstruation is unaffected unless the girl is sewn too tight. Infertility occurs only with infection. Loss of sexual pleasure is the objective of the procedure so not to be regretted.

Yes, circumcision is painful for girls. But it's not done for reasons of sadism. First, it teaches them their place in society, which is inferior to males, second, it keeps them pure for marriage and third, it ensures they have a healthy and natural married life when that time comes. It is an act of kindness.
