At least the rubber band was thick, not like the super skinny ones I grew up on that really cut into the hair. I also noticed that the stylist was very careful to not pull too hard on the hair while she was looping it through the band. I think it's fine if its temporary. Also, that bun is screaming for an accessory!

@cindasoot that's great that you use them. My mother used them all of her life too. Doesn't mean that is the intended use. Just like Q tips are more for cosmetic purposes rather than cleaning ears they way most people misuse them...Look at how common the comment is about that rubberband. That has to tell you something.
