I don't think it could have been as strong a single as it was if GM hadn't gone back and redone it. This is a decent mix, but pretty weak for radio airplay.
This is the first version of "Careless Whisper", produced by Jerry Wexler in 1983. George was unhappy with it, and re-produced the song for its 1984 release. This very first version was released as a b-side on the japanese maxi-single.
Very different from the version that was mass released. It's not too bad, I like it.

It starts weak....but keeps getting better and better to the extend that I actually like the ending better than George Michaels version.
Overall I do like it.....
