  • wow, galing talaga... ate tanung ko lang po kung saan pa makaka kita ng mga ganitong films? any recommended sites? nag aaral din po kasi ako ng mga films, I'm from ateneo and I'm very passionate about films. napanuod ko narin po ung karsel, it was an epic :D, thanks po

  • @valids0 Hi! Thanks! Usually sa mga film festivals ka makakakita ng ganitong films, and the older ones usually nga nandito sa Youtube, marami rin naguupload sa Vimeo and other social networking sites. I think pinakapopular ang Youtube :)

I suggest you try watching indie films during festivals like Cinemalaya, Cinemanila, Cinema One Originals, and I think meron ding mga occasional school-based film fests/film screenings even in Ateneo, Miriam and UP ;-)

  • Para siyang sa mundo ng engkanto... Parang yung sa Spirit Warriors, yung lugar ni Ulanaya. Galing talaga. Bibihira ang may ganyang imahenasyon :)

  • @JIKUereno Salamat! =D

  • hi mingwi and lapsworld! maraming salamat! :)

I need your kritiko po. salamat in advance.ahehehe
  • Galing ganda. Push Onward! I wish makagawa din ako ng short indie film about the real life and struggles here in Dubai.

  • and a trivia, only 2 persons played those instruments (instruments borrowed from our friend AG sano for the kulintang and the rest from kontragapi), one by one/track per track at a boarding house in a really busy street with lots of tricycles/vehicles passing by - due to lack of budget. they needed to cover all the windows with lots of cloths and just prayed the mic and mixer could do the trick. glad to know, it worked! :D

  • hi chitsky1! thank you! really appreciate it :D wow, talk about kurosawa, im humbled... :) thank you! oh btw, the music is courtesy of my musical scorer philip arvin jarilla

  • so basically, you are making your own Screenplay, ow, because of your thesis.. i already watched Karsel.. maganda, i mean, it was great.. galing mo talaga.. galing ah..

i invited you nga pala sa Friendster.. ganda mo pala ah.. ei, you watched 300 na pala, ako rin.. last week lang.. it was really great..

    til next mail..:D

  • yup! i usually do my own scripts for my films :) thanks again ken! yeah, 300 is the best! ive watched it more than 20 times already... for real!!! haha! im that crazy! =D

  • wow.. it's really cool.. ako, I really haven't seen a 35mm camera, I really wanted to see that.. Ako kasi, I only use, Sony HC1000 and yung Sony DCR VX2000.. You know, DigiFilm.. But, I know naman that iba talaga pag gamit ang rolyo.. I really hope that I could make a film using 35mm..

What's your real name pala? My whole name pala is Ken Ayala Saavedra.

    Waiting for your reply.. :D

  • ey, thanks a lot! pleased to meet youy ken! it's rianne hill soriano :) just call me rianne. 35 mm is really challenging i tell ya! ;-) you should try it when you can! pero it's really expensive, with me, i needed to really work out sponsorships for one year just to meet the financial demands of the production :) but it pays off after all the hardships ;-)

  • and who casted the casts?? how much yung TF ni Joel Torre? :-)

  • i did the work mainly all throughout, you know how independent goes... it's tough... hehehe! but really fulfilling afterwards... i tried looking for the right kids at museo pambata, they have a program there where they have kids doing workshops. i and my choreographer (the shadowman/monster in the film) conducted a dance workshop with the museo kids and we chose the 3 kids from there.

  • we give tokens, even with JT, he was so kind and very supportive really, when he read the script, he said yes and he knows it's pro bono, and he went to the loc on his own, he said he could manage daw and no need for us to fetch him and bring him home after. he was so kind!!! he didnt even accept our gas reimbursement coz he went to the shoot nga with his ride. he is such a kind, generous, talented, and really professional artist :)

  • what camera did you use in that film? and what light kit did you use? sorry.. too specific.. waiting for your rep..

  • i used the 35mm cameras moviecam and arri 3 :) with the lights, it depends, iba-iba kasi requirements for shooting day, mainly we have 1K and 2K fresnel, set of dedolights, inky dinky, redheads, 1 12K HMI, etc. we also utilized the usual lighting needs as dimmers, cookies, scrims, gobos, also white and black backings, and smoke machine/charcoal and baby oil for smoke effects :)

  • you know what, honestly, i'm only a second year high school student at MGC New Life Christian Academy.. and I have been dreaming of to be one of the greatest film makers in the Philippines.. and by the way, that's also my future course.. let's keep in touch, we don't know, we might be able to produce indie films...

  • that's a great start! i started out with photography way back in HS, then thought of taking up chemical engineering in UP, but on the last minute of filling up the UPCAT form, i changed my mind, though engineering would be a good source of income, i really want an arts course, and i have no regrets of getting my first choice course in UP film, it's my life :)

  • and surely, let's get keep in touch! i would love to be of help, maybe some advice :) been there... haha! good luck! aim high, dream high! ;-)

  • btw, the cinematographer's name is wowie hao, this film is an "all women team." :)

  • Directing an indie film is not that easy, it really needs time and sacrifice in able for you to make one. But all I can say is that the Cinematography was good in this film... Simple yet alright. Continue posting Filipino Indie Films..

  • Thank you so much! That is so true, it's really hard coz you have to compromise things because of your limitations, and most of the work both in the creative and administrative depts are mainly depending on the filmmaker's drive, and this work was literally and figuratively sweat and blood... It fulfills us when other people see the film, and it's a bonus that there are people who appreciate them. Once again, thanks so much! :)

  • hehe, thanks! :)

  • hi Rianne.. may i know what's your course.. and what's your school nga pala?

  • hi direken! surely! it's Bachelor of Arts in Film and Audio-Visual Communication at the University of the Philippines Film Institute :)

  • ey, thanks a lot again! buti nagustuhan mo! :)
