  • I know everyone just LOVES Alan, but honestly, I love Depeche Mode because I can feel the passion in every song. Cheesy, I know, but i could care less about production (heh, sounding a bit like Mr. Gore). I just know that Martin puts his heart into everything. His lyrics are brilliant, but maybe that's because I'm a romantic. Alan did contribute ALOT of great things for Depeche, but like Martin has said, there are creative differences between the two. DM doesn't need Alan.

  • Alan save DEPECHE MODE !

  • I'll put my head on the block by saying that Alan was the real musician in DM and his use of the early Emu Emulators took them from being a good live act to be a great live band.

  • Beautiful ! This brings back sweet memories.

Some great reward is my favourite album still.

  • I was there in RAH on the floor, 7th. row from the stage. And i cried. But it didn't matter becourse when i looked around me, every one else stood there whith the tears running from their eyes. Yes, it was the most magical moment in my life. I'll never forget it.

  • I get shivers down my spine every time I watch this video! Simply amazing!

  • Alan should do some work with the band. That's what got me hooked into their music in the early 80's,and have been a fan of Depeche ever since.I think Martin is an excellent song writer and overall very talented as well.

  • How can this video only have 373,000 views?

  • Oh my god...ALAN !!

  • Every member of Depeche Mode each brought a devine part to the band. All ingredients were put together to make amazing music. Since Wilder's departure from the band, there was always something missing. Like with food, just never tasted as good as it should be. If you members of Depeche Mode are reading this, please get back to your musical baking habits. Trust me, you will enjoy the taste of your own food that much more!

  • Bring back Vince like this, too, just one more time.

  • Ach das ist so schön, so schade das Alan ausgestiegen ist. Er war eine Bereicherung für diese grandiose Band.

  • This video is popular on Jamaica

  • See the smile on Martin Gore's face. I would also smile, if an angel walked on stage with me for one track :o) Though I am not sure I would dare to lay my arm around the angel :o) It must have been really difficult to continue the concert without Alan. What a vacuum to clear in front of the audience.!!

  • OMG this is fantastic +++

  • Alan Wilder looks like Mark Little (Joe Mangal from neighbours)!

  • Alan Wilder is "SOMEBODY" who's my "PERSONAL JESUS" !!!

  • The heart and soul of Depeche Mode. God I love them.

  • I can't believe that I missed that. It's like the come back of Jesus.

  • se me ponen los pelos de gallina desde 20 años con la misma cancion.depeche mode the best.siwa

  • great song for all time..

@stupidBong ur a Loser probably ur fat ass loner haha i feel sorry for u nobody loves u that's why u have that attitude..

  • I've got a feeling that Alan is gonna do a tour at least with the lads sooner or later. He deserves the credit for what he did in the group plus a Depeche Mode classics tour would pack them in and then some.

  • SIR ALAN WILDER !

  • thanks.

  • what a bored and obsolette song, stupid version, exactly like the album version. this song no changes in nothing. Is the same song since 1984. Alan..why don't you play another song, like a remix or any sorprendent, or exclusive??? why are they so repetitive??

  • @StrangeloveBong13 Shut up stupid. You have heart or something? This is one of the best quiet songs from Depeche Mode.

  • @StrangeloveBong13 bwahahaha! s-t-u-p-i-d!

  • NO I W KONCU W CZWORKE ..TAK JAK KIEDYS ...ACH SUPER

  • Thanks for sharing! Lovely brief reunion. DM je t'aime beaucoup. Meant so much to see you performing together. Great SONGS, thank you very much!

  • alan voy a vomitar de la felicidad

  • I would have wet myself and got all welled up in my eyes. Holy crap! A 46 year old fan weeping like a little girl! Sorry I cant help it, Cannot explain it ,These guys are like family that you've grown up with. Can anyone relate to me?!

  • @coreyjim CHYBA JA .....

  • Blessings and blessings again AW MG AF DG! The 80's, Outer Limits, 25th St Theatre, Waco TX.

  • Martin Gore is a genius - but he needs Alan Wilder. Alan is the only person who completely understands Martin's work and how to make his ground material devine. It's a simple fact that Martin and Alan was made for each other. Alan is rumored to return to produce (at least) the next DM album. Tears of joy will certainly fall from my eyes if that dream comes true. I would be more than happy to see DM making new standards again with Alan Wilder.

  • @Karolinevej What makes this video more special is that during the band's history, in cases it was Mart & Fletch as mates, with Dave and Alan on the other side, as friends. it's been made clear they had there differences and i believe it is because they knew Alan was the creative force behind the music that made Martin's song work so well. Glad to see they seemed to have patched up and i really hope he returns to the new album, great way to bow out!

  • Best video on youtube imho. Thanks for sharing jam007dmdotcom.

    DM, Alan: run with it.

    make some more music!

  • How do you guys know Dave organized this (I missed a few words he said)?

Anyway, it's priceless! The genius was there! Who would have thought?! Especially after watching what they had to say about Alan on the dvd's of the remasters a few years back, except for Dave,of course. As far as I'm concerned, Charlie was always responsible for the DM sound, he was the engineer of the band.

I love Recoil, but I've always missed him in DM. It's a moment to cherish!

Ps: the Fletch hug must've hurt a bit.

  • This is truly amazing!!!

  • alan we love you for today and always! dm4EVER

  • A song that expresses all the love in a few words .....

  • sos un genio wilder, ojala nunca te hubieras marchado, es increible lo que se te extraña!

  • I don't think alan was prepared for the response he got. He's never been big on the 'fame" thing at all, but I could tell it felt good to be genuinely appreciated. I don't we've heard the last of this :).

  • Who the hell are the 8 losers that disliked this?? o,O

  • Dos genios de la música!

  • geilo

  • ... esto llena de emoción... dan ganas de volver a creer...

  • wow genial

  • creo que voy a vomitar de la emocion

  • i know he loves him hummmmmm

  • Such a special moment, so many tears...

  • as the title of a titanic last song Depeche Mode: "come back" Alan ...

  • the last note and the impression on Alan's face :]

  • come back, come back, come back, come back

  • This is the best MOMENT of 2010!!!!!!!! Like Dave said: A magical moment.........

  • Wow, intense, amazing and no words!!

  • alain come back

  • I love this song & was lucky enough to be at this gig. :-D It was a special moment... Thanks for uploading.

    376, xxxx.

  • Esto es música y no lo que hay ahora *___*

  • Whatever they dreamt, Alan built it:) <33333

  • I love You Michelle Boba Laskowski

  • OMG! thanks for uploading. Wish I could have been there.

  • No remix could beat live piano + Alan W & Martin L. Gore togheder...

  • It's simply beautiful.

  • If he doesn't re-join DM permanently he should definately be the producer of their next album....

  • It's not such a bad World really is it?

  • creo que voy a vomitar de la tristeza

  • epic...

  • DM is still DM, and their live shows are nothing less than incredible. After 30 years, Dave still wraps a crowd around his little finger and keeps them there. His energy, I have no idea where he gets his energy, but he's still got it. However, since WIlder's departure, they have not been nearly as musical or innovative. Alan was the musical force behind the band and created the music for some of Gen-X's greatest songs. Its hard to deny the difference in DM with Alan and DM ever since.

  • However, its my opinion that they are the best live band of all time with or without Alan Wilder. They'll just never be able to create new music nearly as good as when he was in the band.

  • sniff sniff sniff

hope the broken frame be fixed

  • Amazing!

  • Dave isn´t only the Face -.-

  • simply BeAuTiFuL

  • Friggin' awesome - the beauty, the companionship. Thanks for this, Jam007

  • volve alan

  • from Italy, I love DEPECHE MODE

  • Depech Mode did really some great Albums without Alan!!!! With a lot of No 1 Hits, but maybe when Alan comes back they get better .... But... , DM will always be the best!!!! Dave is god!!!

  • Why i'm crying now?!

  • Again kingfisher shows not always newer is better ...

But a victory for the devotees.

    I love Depeche Mode

  • MY LIFE...my DEPECHE--

  • Alan Wilder devrais faire un retour avec Depeche Mode qu'il n'aurais jamais du quitter.

  • martin's voice is simply magnificent....and alan's playing the piano is the perfect match for it. i can't imagine anybody else playing the piano for martin for this song except alan

  • @MsPink68 Well, Peter Gordeno does it.... but he do it on a very different style that I don't like (with all my respect for him).

Peter Gordeno is a great musician and he does a wonderful job in the DM live shows but, some songs doesn't match for him.

ALAN WILDER is THE BEST !!!

  • @ANDRES77 Like which songs doesnt match Peter Gordeno? Yeah, I agree with you. Alan is the best and Peter has done a really good job since he started playing live with DM. Same for Christian.

  • @Mekanos Like Enjoy the Silence, Photographic, and some other classics.... they use too much sampled loops and less live playing now...

But...it's Depeche Mode, so...I think I can live with that.

Anyway...ALAN WILDER is something else!! he is the best.

  • @ANDRES77 Yeah, I agree... Enjoy the Silence is a good example since it has all those loops. But in soft playing songs like Somebody or Home, I think Peter does a good job. Gracias por la respuesta!

  • @Mekanos Actually he does a great job in all the songs, but especially "SOMEBODY", Alan WIlder is the man.

Maybe I will sound very intolerant with this but, I don't even like this song in Peter Gordeno's style...

    Cheers!!

  • awwwwwwwww alan is such a joy to have you back! at least one night! come back to all of us!

  • Did Dave new he had cancer at the time?

  • 6 dislikers DO NOT APPRECIATE true music.

  • Wow. I didn't know about that. I was certainly nice to see them all performing together again. It's been a long time.

  • 1 year ago, a magical moment happened and the Earth smiled.. :*) I still cry watching this video! :*)

  • Celebrate this....one year ago we had a very special guest tonight......Mr Alan Wilder !!!!!

  • Enhrabuena a los que estuvisteis presentes. A los demás..¿no os dió un vuelco el corazón?. ¿Volverá algún día?. No perdamos la esperanza NUNCA. Grande, Alan. Larga vida a DM

  • depeche mode became DEPECHE MODE in the first broken frame

Alan should again be with DM

Gore sang the best version of this song in Pasadena

  • @chichiboypumpi A Broken Frame is second. Alan Wilder does not appear on that album. Finally, the band were formed because of Vince and Fletch.

  • depeche mode became DEPECHE MODE in the first broken frame

Alan should again be with DM

  • Martin's voice sounds incredible here!

  • YOU ARE THE REAL DEPECHE MODE!(WITH ALAN)

    DON'T FORGET MARTIN!

  • martin you make me cry, always

  • Este video ya lo habia puesto, pero la interpretacion y la cancion simplemente no tienen madre, esta letra de MARTIN GORE tiene un mensaje super facil de entender

  • This took place one day after by birthday...Man what a nice gift to say the

    least.

  • 6 people lack a hart

  • @SpaceTasteMedical ... DM have continued ahead because they didn't try to replace Alan, they moved on to another style because the music they can do now (with the help of many more producers, arrangers, two musicians for live), would never be the same like it was before Alan left...not on studio or live performances.

It's very clear for me the work of all the members of the band, I'm totaly agree with you about it, but I just wanted to clarify those points...

  • @SpaceTasteMedical ...And let me tell you "AGAIN"..I'm totaly agree that the complete result is a team job..no doubt about it...but, the part of "Martin wrote all the music as WELL as the lyrics"...my friend you need to admit it... that is not true.

When Alan left (all the staff and the other guys) thought that it was the end of the band, just as some people would if Martin left...

What would happend "IF" Martin had left...that is something that nobody knows...

    DM have continued ahead ...

  • @SpaceTasteMedical ..which are not true "Martin wrote all the music as WELL as the lyrics".....

No my friend....tha's not true..the chords and the melodie of the voice is not "all the music", there is a very bog difference!

Do you know how laborious is to compose several diferent lines in the same chord and then make a choice (with the other guys) about which one is going to be the bass line, strings, melodies, to programm the synths for live performances, and play most of the parts live?

  • @SpaceTasteMedical No my friend...sorry but it seem you haven't heard them.... No melodies just chords and voice....Martin made the instruments melodies just for some songs,

A lot of songwriters work like that, is not something to discredit Martin !!.. I'm not "Wilder's fan" as you suggested, I really admire DM as a band, I'm just making the clarification because you said ("Wilder's fan", and "defensive")... It sound smore like you are a Martin's fan because you are saying things which are..

  • @SpaceTasteMedical It sounds that you are getting very defensive to a simple clarification from me...

I'm not going to write too much about this.... just:

Have you ever heard the "original" demos from Martin??..Not the studio demos with Alan's contribuition, but the original demos just with the main vocals and chords, most of them just with guitar or hammond chords...

Behind the wheel, strangelove, black celebration, but not tonight, it doesn't matter two, enjoy the silence, ;)

  • I'm totally fangurling right now... I <3 Martin's amazing voice....

  • if i was there i would cry my heart out over something long dead and cold thats for sure. Very nice document you got here, nice gesture from both DM and Alan to give a crowd something like this. I appreciate that, even tho i'm not one of those fans that is living in dream that DM will ever be what it once was or that Alan would possibly revive DM. That era is over. life goes on

  • absolutely a magical moment...

  • Definately cried ... it's just so right

  • WOH!!!! Wilder!!!!

  • @SpaceTasteMedical Martin is the songwriter.... The musician, arranger, producer, live keyboards performer was ALAN WILDER.

Is a team work, but ....people have to recognize that the most muscial talented in the band was ALAN WILDER, and their songs are the result of the contribuition of all, the lyrics from Martin Gore, the incredible voice from Dave, but the sound is the result of the contribuition of ALAN WILDER.

  • @SpaceTasteMedical I'm not slagging Martin off at all. Saying he is 'very 80s' is like saying a certain person 'dresses very retro', its just an observational comment about them, why would that be 'slagging them off'?. Martin IS very 80s! I also said in my comment that he is very talented, which he is. I have several DM albums.

  • If Alan never come back, this moment will be like going to bed with a girl that loves you, knowing you will never marry her.

  • Alan. Please. Come back. I mean: PLEASE. COME BACK. WE NEED YOU. THUMB UP THIS COMMENT IN CASE ALAN EVENTUALLY SEE THIS.

  • I feel like crying when I see then together again

  • wooooooooooooooooww!!!!!!!!

  • "Charlie's good tonight", nice one Dave ha ha!! Got to get him back to produce the next (last?) new DM album!

  • this is one of the magical moments

that you sit back and savor....

  • Grandioso!!!

  • Grandioso!!!

  • Martin Gore is incredibly talented, but he never got over the 1980s. The way he stands, and the facial expressions he pulls when he sings, is so 80s. The way he smiles when he chats to Dave at the very end of this clip is very 1980s too!

  • :-):-):-) LOVE THE SOUND

  • i love gg and i was so hurt he wasnt there for the 21 days we could have been so together...special time of the year..christmas season and so i guess hes somebodys love now...i miss him so dearly..now im alone...

  • yep...

  • what a moment...

  • alan charles wilder, he's never koming back to depeche mode.

  • jajajaja you wet yourself?!!!! jajajaja best post ever!!!!

  • Hey guys I recomend a colombian band called "Estados Alterados"....you can start by watching "invisible".....look at this and make your own conclusions!

  • pinche culero del fletcher para que lo corrio, me late que fue envidia alan tiene mucho mas tecnica y cerebro que el

  • Alan, where were you???? I can die now....

  • I did cry... indeed.

  • Epic Moment

  • The first time I seen them perform this was in Dublin in 1984..... Alan was playing it on an Emulator 1 (one of the first samplers).... I couldn't figure out how he was getting the piano sound out of the blue plastic box !

    I don't think he'll re-join but I suspect he'll produce/write with them again.... maybe for the next album ;-)

  • @oberkhorn Actually it was Emulator II, Just martin used de Emulator I for live performance....but...hell who cares...haha, It's amazing how they grew up as musicians and how they made grew up the electronic music with their recording tecnincs and musical ideas.

    Cheers.

  • DM's Heart (Martin) and Soul (Alan) together again. Face (Dave) and Brain (Fletch) are in the backstage.

  • @Hipoga2 i feel the same... from Heart to Brain

  • @Hipoga2 Absolutely agree!

  • @Hipoga2

I like to see them as a kind of line for Communication of man...

Fletch (the Knowledge) - Martin (the creator) - Alan (the translator) - Dave (the Voice)

That's the line how it works... ^^

  • In a word... heartwarming. Weather Alan "comes back" or not... this is so wonderful to see it is beyond words.

  • @tannavae,

    I couldn't agree more.

After seeing Wilder tour under Recoil, despite the lower crowd turn-outs, I was in heaven. It's something I never expected to see again......

  • Wish i was there.Much love for Alan.

  • The best thing about this performance is how much respect you can see Martin and Alan have for each other. First class!

  • Yes we want Alan Back!

  • D.m will never be the same without Alan.So talented.

  • Alan please come back to DM and make it for real again!

  • Март стал лучше..........он прекрасен)))))))))мужик...

  • when i was in high school, we had an assignment in art class to make SOMETHING ceramic.

so i decided to carve in every letter to ever word in "Somebody" by Depeche Mode into a vase. it was a tedious process but it came out rather well

    a gray vase. pronounced vaz.

anyway after that grueling experience, i can't really listen to this song anymore.

i feel like it gave it way too much energy and totally fueled this obsession with this most romantic of all extended prayers

  • Wish he will come back.

  • awesome alan great to see him and gore together.the ORIGINAL DM :0)

  • @therealrockondon Ahem... The original were with Vince Clarke. I could say instead that DM with Alan was THE BEST DM.

  • DM = AVEC ALAN !! SANS LA POTICHE (sacré Fletch !! ) !!

  • @WOZU69 On s'entend là-dessus! Ça fait depuis qu'Alan est parti que je le répète. Mais, semble-t'il, c'est un sujet tabou.

  • Depeche Mode wouldn't never be what they are without Alan Wilder. Actually when I listen DM new songs is inevitable to think how this song would be produced by Alan? I know Alan will be back, at least for one more album but I know he will be back, we all deserve it and Depeche Mode too.

  • @vjrei Is Alan Wilder really going back to Depeche Mode to produce their next album?

  • @JRHartly1984 He must, they should, they better.

  • Hey Alan! What about one more album? One more tour? Not bad idea at all?

  • i've a tear roll down right now..come to home.. alan

  • met Alan after the Recoil concert in Toronto this past week and honestly i can say, what a fucking amazing man!!! i even got to hug him and seriously, that definitely ranks up there as one of the all-time best moments of my life! such a genius but a total sweetheart at the same time! We love you ALAN!!!!!!!!!

  • Met Alan last night after one of his concerts in Toronto....such a cool guy :-)

  • Que lindossssss... que vuelvan a juntarse todos i love DM...

  • Alan is awesome.

  • One of dm's finest moment ever. Thanks to everyone who made that possible for us.
