I'm so glad this is coming out. If everyone bands together to speak out about this it will have to have an impact. I commend your bravery, I really do. I have dealt with this at work but I can quit a job or just go home. You can't, and abusers know it. Despicable. Their souls are fractured in my opinion. Stay true and don't give up. Find others like you to get support. Good luck. I'll be watching what happens.
I too have been victimized by a superior ranking NCO at Fort Leonard Wood MO, during Basic Training my Drill SSG Demetrius Busby Raped while I was in "Security holdover status" 20 years ago. I didn't even know the term Military Sexual Trauma existed until reading a random blog and seeing that my Drill Instructor had retired after 24 years and became and J.R.O.T.C. Instructor in Sarasota Florida and had abused 7 of his cadets.
A while back I picked up one of those "Banned from TV" tapes. One segment was an execution in some Arab country. Two men were guilty of rape of a teenager. The rapists were put up against a wall and the male relatives of the victim lined up in a firing squad with machine guns. The rapists were riddled with bullets. The point I'm trying to make is which country is the barbaric one? The US that normalizes such degenerate behavior, or the Arab country?
I was assaulted my first week in Afghanistan by another soldier from the National Guard while doing my laundry. I never asked for it, my chain of command did the right thing and had the guy investigated and punished. It was my CO who made me feel like it was my fault and continued to harass me and bully me into staying in my room all the time. I joined to get away from an abussive ex husband and make a new begining for my kids and myself. How would a man like it if he was saudimized?
