  • so hauntingly shred and good!!

  • in the 90's, fuzz was all the rage

  • Every time I hear the drums on this song, it takes me back to a Led Zeppelin track called Moby Dick...the drums is so Bonhamic...

  • This EPIC song deserved an EPIC music video!! :)

  • im 25 and im only just getting into these guys................wasted youth

  • @blackxlou123 never too late

  • Who's the other drummer?

  • Well as good as all the members are, Billy Corgan played almost all instruments on this album. read more on allmusic.com/album/r188402

D'Arcy has also said that it was true in interviews and also said it took Billy far fewer takes and much shorter time to do it himself.

  • Oh. Can't even spell overdrive. Well done, me... =/

  • Does anyone know how to get that guitar sound? I've been playing guitar for nearly 3 years, and although I'm a decent enough guitarist, I just fail at technical stuff. I repel anything electrical. =P It's gotta be some kinda ovredrive/dist. pedal, right? Help!

  • @KesObsessed Sounds like a boosted (with some sort of OD pedal... SD1 maybe) Big Muff.

  • @donbehatin someone tolds its a bug muff and superzuzz in parallel.

  • @KesObsessed According to guitar nerd lore Corgan's main fuzz for this era of SP was an IC EHX Big Muff. Do a few quick google searches and you should dig up a wealth of info on Corgan's gear. Also look for the "stompland" video on youtube. It's corgan going through his pedal collection and mentioning what was used where on various albums.

  • That really dreamy soundscape starting at 1:58 and going until 2:29, does not get enough credit.

  • She. Dizzy whacked. WHat

  • Chamberlain is a phenomenal drummer no question, completely first class.

  • Iha played a great solo, definitly a underrated guitarist. so was corgan

  • My wake up song...

  • Thank you for adding this track!!!!!

  • The bass on this makes my brain melt!

  • I'm a guitarist. And believe it or not that is one of the rare songs where I nearly don't give a shit about guitar. I just keep listening to Jimmy's powerful beats and destroy my arms by making air drums =) Kick ass song.

  • @NdannsN thats weird the first thing I thought when I heard this song was "what an awesome guitar sound"

  • The best band of 90´s.

  • anyone know what pedals they use for the bridge? Like 2:00 to right before 2:30. Thanks

  • Everybody please go on Facebook to Banners for Profiles and request a Smashing Pumpkins banner!!!!! It is an outrage that they don't have one. There are so many bands not as good as them with banners. I need you to help. They won't listen to just one guy. Paste this on other Pumpkins vids!!!!!!

  • @Matty415100

    Agreed Matt.

  • The album has sadly become kind of disappointing for me. I've listened to so many live versions of this band, and they always play the songs so much faster. I wish the tempo of the album's songs were faster. It'd honestly be perfect if the songs were just a bit faster.

  • this song... pfff no word to discribe its energy and its power !! great track from a great band !

  • So underrated, even I underrated them. How wrong I was...

  • @MultiDannyboy89 your not alone mate!

  • good!

  • gooood!

  • goood goooooood!

  • amazing to watch these guys play this live. they do it twice as fast.

  • I want to know how to create that sound... That kinda grungy bassy humming... I love it so much. I want... Hmmm...

I love this song. This whole album is so cool. The 90s were amazing. A shame, then, that I was born in the 90s instead of growing up in them. Ah well - can't have it all...

    God, this song's sexy...

  • @KesObsessed Use an effects pedal - Electro Harmonix Big Muff - an older American version. Crank it as hard as it will go. Run it into a Marshall JCM800 with a 4x12 speaker cabinet. Tune your entire guitar down half a step. Then learn to play the guitar like a fuckin' machine.

  • @thekonno87 Cool, cheers. lol And i'm half-way to a fuckin' machine, but... hey, maybe one day. =) Cheers, though, thanks.

  • those ten people are just ASSHOLES

  • at the 4:15 mark the roof of the world falls on top of you...

  • I'm a self-admitted full-blown computer geek, and I've adopted this song as my personal anthem. Rock on, SP.

  • Hey if there's any guitarists listening to this, I'd just like to know if any of you guys know how to get that distorted tone Corgan produces in this song. Like, what pedals, amps, guitars, etc. I have a Strat and a Big Muff Pedal, but neither of them are giving me the tone I want. Please let me know, and thanks.

  • @HarryPotterDrums .....having a strat and a big muff is a good start...cuz billy used this as well.....ur gonna need different pickups...go to dimarzio pickups websight...and they sell billy corgans custom made pickups...youl see it when u go to the sight...i think he also uses a dimarzio chopper for the neck....not sure what amp settings...hope this helps a little....just type in google...and theres is a bunch of pages discussing his tone and other artists...I'm really interested in his tone to

  • @Floods90319 Hey yeah, thanks man. Not really looking to get his signature pickups, 'cause I like being an individual and all (I'm a slightly pretentious musician haha); but more along the lines of just being able to get into that tone when I want to. So the DiMarzio website is helping, and I've heard they make great pickups. What kind of pickup would you recommend looking for if I want a really defined, bright tone for a clean setting but versatile enough to where I can use it for a smooth OD?

  • @Floods90319 And I apologize if the way I'm wording my thoughts isn't very clear to you, I'm not that experienced yet :(

  • @HarryPotterDrums...no problem......i mean it all up to you as an artist...theres so many different things to choose from and everyone is different....fender pikcups/kinman pickups offer very good pickups...the texas specials provide a pretty chimy and cutting sound with some bite for overdrive....i personally have a american standard strat and use a Digitech RP 500 pedalpoard and that has given me some great opitons especially for cruncy distortion like the "killer setting"

  • @Floods90319 Yeah actually I was checking out the DiMarzio True Velvets; they sound nice, might go and "pick 'em up" (no pun intended). Thanks for your help.

  • @HarryPotterDrums you need the right big mufff....1978 op amp version 4...complete different sound from the new ones you can buy

  • @andrewface The basic Big Muff PI's have been pretty much the same since the 60's; I'd hardly call them "new".

  • I remember this Track,,, it was in the 90's... full of energy... full of energy...

  • i love most of siamese dream but always felt this song was in a whole other room. imo there's just one volume to play it at — "how loud you got?"

  • @vividimaginer When I listen this in the car i gradually turn the volume up as the song progresses. By 3:16 in its close to full volume, and by 4:14 its completely maxed out.

  • Fucking love the smashing pumpkins

  • i <3 the filthy ass solo

  • Siamese Dream is probably one of my all time 10 favorite albums ever. It has despair, sorrow and excitement at every level.

  • 9 People don't care much for this particular song.

  • @Lehury86 lololololol *high five* i fucking hate when people try to make a joke based on dislikes, so this is an amusing deconstruction of the trend.

  • This album is the suburbs

  • Do you know where I first heard this song at? Actually, two places; on Between The Buried And Me's cover album "The Anatomy Of" and then I heard the Pumpkins' version on a torrent music compilation of Guitar World's 100 Greatest Guitar Solos list. Odd, huh?

  • anyone know anymore smashing pumpkin songs this heavy? this is prolly my favorite song by them.

  • @formusicplaylist1 Silverfuck is a good one thats kinda heavy like this

  • @formusicplaylist1 Anything of the Gish album.

  • @formusicplaylist1 Jellybelly and An Ode to No-One. and for anything straight up guitars and rocking, Gish is your answer.

  • @formusicplaylist1 here is no why is heavy.its about kurt cobain, tis class

  • @1984LizardKing

    what?

  • Fantastic track.

One of my all time favourites I reckon!

  • 9 people must not be Geeks

  • Everything about this tune is bad ass.. the drumming obviously, probably his best work with the Pumpkins between this and Silverfuck.. but right up to the bad ass bass riff at the breakdown.. the song is just perfection!

  • We tried, we were average musicians, but never acomplished anything close to "geek". It was out of our playlist... :)

  • this band is very nostalgic fo rme

  • YEAHHHHHHHHH MUTHER FUCKER GET DOWN AND PLAY THAT SHIT!!!

GREAT TRACK JIMMY!!!-yes there are those of us out here who recognize and appreciate your work as well!

  • deftones is like a heavyer version of these guys but with less solos

  • Chamberlain's drumming on this track is EPIC!!! It embodies the great skill he had as a crossover jazz/rock drummer.

  • Really can't fathom how Katy Perry compared herself to this.

  • @PGROSYE02 when the fuck did that bitch do that? what a cock. same with rihanna thinking shes a rock star, next time she does the devil horns sign im gonna snap her fingers off and shove them down beavers throat

  • @PGROSYE02 wow and wait the best one is bieber saying hes the kurt cobain of his generation

  • In your jesus christ pose...

  • this is there best written song by far it has everything a song should have

  • dis the band

  • Has it ever occurred to anyone that the two young girls on the cover of this album are likely in their mid-to-late twenties by now? Hope they're pumpkins fans. And I hope they know which "f*** you" song is the greatest ever. Hint: It's not by Cee Lo Green.

  • @penneywize

I think one of the girls in the cover is presently the smashing pumpkins' bassist. :)

  • Greatest guitar solo ever. Fact.

  • jimmy chamberlin = jesus

  • This song is one of the best in my music list :p

  • Chamberlain's skill and energy on the drums remind me of John Bonham. Oh yeah and thumbs if you think 2:30-3:15 is one of the most FILTHY sequences on the entire album!

  • @tom12mvp The poor man had to go from skilled jazzed drumming to "rockin out", and never has a soul on earth adapted as well as Chamberlin. I sometimes listen to Siamese Dream and think, ARE YOU REALLY FUCKIN DOIN THAT SHIT RIGHT NOW IN THAT SONG? THAT IS FUCKIN IMPOSSIBLE GENIUS. And I'm sure Corgan has thought that a few times himself, only with, IF IT WASN'T FOR YOU I WOULDN'T BE FAMOUS. And I could argue that point to the death. And, BTW, everything after 3:15 is pretty fuckin filthy too. :)

  • @tom12mvp bonham...GREAT CALL! love zep and smashing pumpkins

  • @tom12mvp I think from 4:00 mark on is the chit.

  • @tom12mvp I think from 4:00 mark on is the chit. One the best albums of any group at any time ever.

  • ohh Goddd...that tone....soooo dope!

  • I love this song but playing it on youtube is almost blasphemous. The quality is just too poor

  • @SPFrobber I have DJ quality headphones plugged directly into my computer and I think the sound quality is pretty good. Maybe at low volume there is background noise, but at high volume there is no distortion and the mix is both clear and well balanced.

  • Love the Pumpkins - first heard them in 1992 on the "Singles" Soundtrack and i saw them in 93, 1994 Lollapalooza and 1995 at Madison Square Garden New York City... um... NO thank you, we don't wanna hear that other bands version of this bands song. I'll listen to the Smashing Pumpkins version of Geek USA. Thanks.

  • the version of between the buried and me is better !

  • @marijn17 It's a good cover, but it's not nearly as good as the Pumpkins'.

  • Chamberlin is hands down one of the top 10 drummers ever. IMO he is top 3, but I will be a realist with this post

  • The poetry in this song is so amazing

  • 2:57 to 3:15 blew my mind!

  • Along with Matt Cameron (Soundgarden), Danny Carey (Tool), and Dave Grohl (Nirvana), Jimmy Chamberlain is one of the best 90s drummers, and one of the best drummers of all time.

That's just off the top of my head though, I still have yet to check out more drummers that were most prominent and played during the 90s.

  • @Cuhfuhfuhd I mean, what happened to rock? There was so much good alt rock in the 90's. It used to be so dirty and sludgey, and now its just.. Poppy and way to upbeat and happy for its own good.

  • @punkmusicmetal Yeah I know! Music has really changed for the worse. I miss the 90s so much.

  • @punkmusicmetal What's wrong with upbeat and happy music? There was just as much of that music in the 90s. Lisen to the Spin Doctors and tell me with a straight face they aren't upbeat.

  • @punkmusicmetal There's a ridiculous amount of good music out now, you just have to look a little harder for it. I can reccemend some bands/artists if you want.

  • @Cuhfuhfuhd Tim Alexander is great, too.

  • @emphaticleech Oh man, I forgot about him. Yeah, he's great too. He's actually very underrated...unfortunately. Les Claypool takes up all the attention. Les is still awesome though.

  • In a dream we are connected, Siamese Twins at the wrist!

One of the best lines ever!

  • 1:57 - 2:29 is the Drummers Heroin Dream of Bliss!

  • jimmy chamerblin is a really sick drummer so damn jazzy

  • I'm going to mix the DNA of Jimmy Chamberlain and Neil Peart and create the ultimate drummer.

  • @0Banjo0 matt tong is also an amazing drummer

  • @0Banjo0 Yah no shit that would be the ultimate drummer

  • A good challenge for a shred guitarist is to jam out over slow part....with taste. Im all about higher art and all but I love me some smashing pumpkins

  • A good challenge for a shred guitarist is to jam out over slow part....with taste

  • Guitar's sound like Soundgarden.

  • My fave pumpkins song...Does anyone else get shivers down the spine when the solo kicks in??

  • @gandi09

Oh, I have shivers through every second of this song.

  • @gandi09 hell yeah lol!!!!!

  • Jimmy!!!

  • u guys should listen to the between the buried and me cover of this, its pretty epic

  • I'm from Canada...I have a friend that lives in Boston...I call him this all the time!

  • this was also my first album in the form of a cassette tape. i was only 7 years old. most kids my age aren't even in to music but this is the soundtrack to my life. i thank the pumpkins for all the good memory's.

  • this was also my first album in the form of a cassette tape. i was only 7 years old. most kids my age aren't even in to music but this is the soundtrack to my life. i thank the pumpkins for all the good memory's.

  • @ToNyTrAiLmiXX00 lol fuckin same !

  • Great song off one of the best albums of the 90's :)

  • Drums made me jizz!

  • God this song makes me want to fucking fly.

  • smashing pumpkins are pro..simple as that..

  • This album is a fucking masterpiece to me! Nothing I know of hits me as hard and personal as this album! Sonically it is just brilliant; songwriting, musicianship, lyrics, production, dynamics, scope...absolutely fucking brilliant-truly a perfect album! That is all I can really say!

  • Some of the guitar lines remind me of Brian May.

  • Quite possibly my most favorite Smashing Pumpkins song ever. I need to sit in a large armchair with a martini and a pair of shades and blast this in front of my face.

  • WORDS CAN'T DEFINE WHAT I FEEL INSIDE!!!!!

  • The way pumpkins can incorporate such delicacy and beauty in something that starts out so strong and rough is just pure brilliance. It's really good to know that so many other people realize the power of this amazing band.

  • I heard a cover of this, and it blew pretty hard. The pumpkins are unmatched by anyone before them or after them. In my opinion, of course...

  • @MrKrause93 Poets Of The Fall are just as Good, but I can't get their CDs in America because we like crap like Kanya West and Lady Guy Guy, while the good stiff goes unnoticed. Oh well I hope you like them as much as I do: - )

  • @MrKrause93 was it between the buried and me's cover?

  • @FootballnSoccer Yeah, good guess. Good friend of mine had the cover album ( dont know the name ) goin in the car and I heard it on there. I mean, it really wasn't too bad, but nothing moves me more than the pumpkins in their prime. Ya know?

  • @MrKrause93 I love both bands. Between the buried and me represents the new taste in music Ive developed, but nothing beats good ol classic pumpkins. And I mean, the fact that their paying homage speaks volumes to their influence.

  • I think this has to be my favorite alt rock album of all time. So grand. When I first heard this cd, this was one of my least favorite songs, now this and rocket are my favorite. I dont think I got it right away.

  • Comment removed

  • III CAANT BELIEVE IIIIT

  • @auralstream haha thats my favourite part :)

  • Chamberlain goes off in this tune, sick!!

  • Chamberlain, you melt my heart AND my face. You rule!

  • If I were going to go crazy, I think this song would be playing as I danced about like a lunatic.

  • amazing guitar and outstanding drums... just cant get any better....feel pity for the 5 morons...

  • slap the bass

  • @TheCameo86 SLAPPIN' DA BASS MAHN

  • Best fucking guitar solo ever

  • FUUUUCK ME I love this ! ;D

  • no one cans play drums like J C

  • Best Hard Rock Performance by a drummer............of all time.

  • One of the best songs of all time. You all know it.

  • @Evilly666999 except the 5 inglorious bastards who disliked this

  • Between the Buried and Me, while not being the origional artists, still do this song good justice.

  • 5 morons missed the good button

  • Best solo ever !

    Vive les Smashing !

  • I really love to break too, I want to meet this girl.

  • I love how they can write stuff like this, which is almost metal, and something like 1979.

  • This sums up everything that was awesome about the Pumpkins: crazy song strucuture, wry lyrics, pounding drum fills, awesome guitar solos...what more can you ask for!

  • I adore this album. Top ten easy. Like, six, before INXS "Kick" and after The Buddy Rich Big Band "Mercy, Mercy".

  • the only bad Pumpkins album is Teargarden by Kaleidoscope... in fact, I can't even bring myself to call it a pumpkins album. It's just a Billy Corgan ego trip. He just slapped a Smashing Pumpkins label on it so people would buy it. The original lineup needs to get back together and save Billy from himself... STAT!!!!!!!!!! Although I know that will sadly never happen odds are.

  • @gapingmaw20 Whatever. That's completely stupid. I love Teargarden. And this.

  • @gapingmaw20 I thought teargarden was free? um shall i refer you to bitch.com

  • oh oh oh oh oh oh those guitars. dammmmmmmn

  • Word cant define what I feel inside.......But who needs them

  • Life pauses at 4:03

  • @SmilinLion BASS!

  • One of the best jazz/rock drummers there ever lived.... PERIOD!

  • @SmilinLion you need to listen to more jazz then lol

  • @prjctcivilian Jimmy good man, hes no tony wil;liams or omar hakim, but he rocks pretty friggin hard

  • @SmilinLion Yeah, ONE of. Lots of good drummers around tho. Go look up "monty" by spiderbait.

  • omg this song is soooooooooooo amazing lol. i'm kinda pissed off at that one store fye. cuz i wanted to find this album, omg the album was 20bucks oh well it's siamesedream so it's worth it

  • This is when the pumpkins rocked out... then they took a shit and named it "Machina" ... then ate no fiber and took a shit and named it "zeitgeist"

  • @JKaiserable lol i know right. lol even though i' m a big pumpkins fan, i gotta admit that was funny haha. well to tell you the truth i do like Zeitgeist haha.........well better than Machina. peace.

  • @SuperSiamesedream ... hahah, i actually liked zeitgeist more than machina too, so i guess you can reverse the fiber part, i had to keep it in the order they were released though

  • the songs isnt that hard (except for the solo) but its still awesome... thats what i love about bands from the 90's that they could make amazing songs with just a few chords, leaving out of the question weird transitions and fucked up solos
