  • How do you make it look like the "after" using Final Cut Pro?

    Thanks! :)

  • why so many dislikes ? What is there to dislike... ??

  • @AcAnimate he picking up poo

  • the woman walks like chicken

  • DUDE!!! CALL ME Premiere awaits you lol

  • Um...okay...it works but how do you do it?

  • Eww its interlace :P

  • just use an HD cam that shoots in 24p. already you get amazing film look, especially if it's in true 24p. the canons are great for that.

  • hey steve, i have adobe premiere elements 10 ... can u tell me how to create the " FILM LOOK" please

  • good

  • Interlacinggggg *eyes bleeding*

  • very nice

  • like still photographers with photoshop - clicking a filter does not make you a pro nor does changing the colour balance. Use the best special effect ever - A GOOD STORY

  • @zkriski yes it is, lol.

  • renember about de-interlace (it will fix your "black lines") if you are going to post videos on YouTube.

  • Check out the new CAM CLAMPER

  • Horrible video

  • interlace :/

  • Wow everything look like it is on Cylon-Occupied Capirca after your correction.

  • Color correction :D

  • Winds a bitch

  • this is wrong in so many ways

  • i watched this only because of that poo comment :)

  • good

  • Awesome!

  • All you did was adjust the colours and tones. You didn't even de-interlace!

  • As you said ATTEMPT!

  • your still ugly.

  • how you do that?? tutorial please...

  • Is it just me or do those people walk like idiots?

  • @SmellsLikeUpDawgg Not sure buddy but they seem to pick up rocks like idiots... let me know if you notice that too?

  • hahaha its the POOP show

  • Comment removed

  • @TheChristopherWalag Hey Chris I agree with most of what you're saying, but the jagged thing is interlacing and as such is not dependent on whether or not you're using tape based, card based, hdd or dvd storage. It's is based on what format you're shooting on and rendering to, shoot progressive and render progressive. I use the canon xl2 and its tape based but shoots nicely, though I'm still learning its advantages and improving my skill set.

  • @jetblackdovemusic Oh okay lol, there's always something new to learn! I never considered interlacing.

  • @TheChristopherWalag it's not necessarily because it's "on tape" but it's whether or not the footage was filmed progressive scan or interlaced

  • @WanderingFilms Yeah, I think someone corrected me on that already haha, thanks

  • I hate one thing in this video its not interleaced video. I dont wanna see that fucking lines in motion.

  • what did u do exactly to get that color in the film?

  • @TheBlanco951 Curves in after effects :)

  • The only problem with this is the video was never de-interlaced. Don't forget to do that!

  • VERRY GOOD NICE JOB

  • @0:49 Hey look maw, i found dog poop

  • Don't know what camera you are using, but turning the edge detection wayy down helps

  • omfg interlaced

  • bad quality

  • I think the conversion to 24p looks great, but I think the color correction and especially the contrast boost is a bit exaggerated. I would have toned it down some, but this is a great example vid.

  • did he died?

  • Nice

  • what are all the effects done that you do on vegas pro 9.0? can you give in debt info, color correct but which one out the 15 to choose from etc..

    Thank you

    God bless

  • this is meh..

  • mmm... I actually likethe way the video looks like BEFORE the "film look" tweak...

  • Yes you should totally make a colour correction tutorial for how you did this video!!

  • hi..very nice work...have you make a tutorial on color correction for this video?I hope u DO!!!! :) because this is very good job for the color correction..

  • Steve, maybe it was already said, I'm too lazy to read each post here, you only convert to 24p if your intention is to transfer from file onto celluloid... otherwise 25p is your choice ;)

  • you picked up some dog poops

  • exacly how I want it to change is there a tutorial just more or less wich fx to use?

  • is that poo that you picked up at 0:52? :D

  • @stever24 very childish thing to say. (But funny)

  • @stever24 , and at 0:54, he collected color corrected poo.

  • @stever24 LOL~

  • 0:05 looks just like Anthony from smosh in Boxman's Girlfriend!!!

  • lolol at 0:35 that kid walks so awkwardly

  • after you deinterlace, add slight vignettes and you've got this spot on! Good work

  • which filters u used pls mention it..

  • lol you get 60,000 views from that? my friend makes way better videos using film look and other after effect tools all the time in his videos....

  • thumbs up if you thought the car would hit her

  • Due to the limits of youtube comment length, all I can tell you about interlacing, is to Google it. However, you can tell the footage is interlaced, is becuz of the lines that appear during movement. These only show on computer monitors, and some newer LCD tvs with a progressive viewing format. You can de-interlace, to make it look smooth for watching on these. The rest, you need to research on y

    your own.

  • Nice I'm also making such a little films

  • Steven, the color correction seems very good but how did you converted from 30p to 24p ?

  • Some people suck at acting so badly, they can't even fake a walk lol and that chick had some line backer shoulders!

  • No mention of what you changed to get the film effect?

  • 0:50 no playing with dog turd. nice conversion btw.

  • Hi,

Can you tell me what type of layer you used to give it the warm golden look on the first shot? Thanks!

  • uhh.... what is to deinterlace and how can one tell its not done? (scratching my head). And Steven.... what exactly did you do to the clips to achieve this look?

  • what are you actually doing to the video like # wise. for example 132 contrast? 84 sat?

  • very good! its not in 24p though is it?

  • I sthere any difference when shooting at high fps and then converting to low fps, i mean why shouldnt u just film it at 24fps at the first place? Seen a lot of this, also ppl shooting at 1080p and then converting to 720p, why?

  • I think it would have looked better, if you had made kind of a day-to-night effect, add some blue to the shadows and set the satuation down. But this look is also interesting and nice to look at.

  • It's amazing what color correction can do to a video! I hate it when people tell me that they don't want any sort of color correction in their video because they think it would ruin it, but it only makes things look slightly more pleasing to the eye!

  • why does everyone look like they are walking with a pole up their ass?

  • your just changing the white point color right???

  • FilmLook is not only colorcorrection.. specially not VCP presets... IT combines good framing, lighting, camera angles and movement, proper lenses, 24p .. and colorcorrection. Besides you should deinterlace your footage first. Cheers

  • Cool check out my Cinematic look effect too!

  • nice colours

  • please guys answer!

If i record with my camera or phone, when i put in the video into sony vegas, its only black, tell me how to fix it, extract, render or what? PLEASE HELP!

  • @eccourenix You recorded with the cap on.

  • Question, did you use magic bullet, or just normal contrast changes on sony vegas?

  • Overall very good work at the color corrections :)

  • I am a sony vegas expert when is come to removing the video interlacing lines. What you need to do is keep the original video format that you imported. So lets just say its MOV? so when rendering your video you want to make sure when you export it that it stays MOV or WMV. Also you want to keep the frame size the same. Judging by the video it was in 1280X720p so just make sure the settings stay the same and you wont get those interlacing lines which can be caused from compressing the video

  • Why did yo tag it with all possible keywords? HVX, HV30, Final cut?? Oh I see, Desperate to get people to watch.

  • looks like you just added some colour correction to it

  • how do i use the sony vegas to do the cinematic look.

  • FUCK YOUR RESOLUTION!!! ALL THOSE ENOYING LINES!! it sucks

  • Something that I've noticed a lot of these "film look" videos have in common is that they're all very very saturated.

I'm assuming you raised the contrast at some point, and what that usually does is it brings up all of the colors and makes them painfully loud.

Try using the Saturation Adjust a tiny bit to bring the colors back down to a realistic look.

Other than that, good job. :D

  • FAIL

  • how did you do this? you changed the color and what?

  • HOW!? Vegas and plugins?

  • Holy Interlace, Batman!

  • dude seriosly U suck

  • converting to 24fps didnt give u anythiong

  • it is not 24fps.

just the color correction that is it

  • Comment removed

  • nice shots

  • What settings did you use to get this color correction?

  • @SuperFastHD in sony vegas, try putting a solid colour of yellow over your film, then making it transparent, it makes the film look really good

  • most editing systems have an automatic deinterlace feature, not the best but it reduces its effects.

  • Comment removed

  • @ukilledkenny7 That is the most random thing to say - 75% of his shots are using the rule of thirds...

  • Interlacing is not two frames spliced into one. Here's what interlacing means:

You got all your pixels that make up one frame, right? Progressive scan renders all the rows of pixels one after the other. Interlacing renders all the odd ones first (lines 1, 3, 5, etc.) and then does all the even ones.

The problem with the motion in this video isn't interlacing. It's a problem with the CMOS chip on the cam.

  • @Thorsun I disagree - it simply wasn't deinterlaced. CMOS causes rolling shutter, not interlace artifacts like this.

  • hi, nice video. but i was wondering about the interlace thingy, ive heard it before but not quite sure what that means. i think its about that line/pixely look when an object moves in the vid right? if so, how do i solve that? cus im saving up for the canon hf200 which shoots in 1080i, and im worried about that problem appearing in the footage.

  • @AlanChunkyMunky Interlacing (in a nutshell) is when two frames are spliced into one. There's more to it than that but you can do your own research. Most editing programs will have a de-interlace function to remove this.

  • I cant stand interlaced. You can especially see its effect on this clip, as the lines appear.

  • @Silenthawk98 you can eliminate lines using different rendering techniques, if you blend fields rather than interpolate you can eliminate lines cause by interlacing completely.

  • how did you convert this to 24p?

  • p is better than interlace

  • de interlace dude ... fuck,...

  • i was gonna say de interlace it, but i read though the comments and thats already covered, lol

  • Great video! I have sony vegas too! How did you change your vid from 30fps to 24fps to give it that cinematic look?

  • The video is clearly is still interlaced, try shooting on progressive instead.

  • Steven you ignorant slut, you forgot to de-interlace your video. Other than that great video.

  • Thanks?

  • hahahahaha

  • @Anchoses ignorant slut = from The Office?

  • You got it

  • well, it's from SNL originally...you ignorant slut.

  • @Anchoses Isn't an ignorant slut someone who gets laid, ALOT? I want to be an ignorant slut too! Shout with me, "I WANT TO BE AN IGNORANT SLUT!" Yippee, may Santa will turn me into one, doh.

  • @Anchoses Yes i agree he is a slut, but what does de-interlace mean? or onterlace for the matter of fact?

  • @Anchoses holy shit. beat me to it.

or just dont interlace it when you export. i dont see why a camera would cause interlacing that sever

  • @Anchoses Absolutely true!!!

  • @Anchoses what does de-interlace do?

  • @Anchoses ive heard the term before but what does de-interlasing mean and do?

  • @Anchoses just thinking that.

  • @Anchoses LOL you funny :L

  • @Anchoses ok first of all what the hell is de-interlace? and who makes a terrible insult then a complement like really?

  • @AndrewCool7 haha, it was a joke he made because the "filmlook" with interlaced footage is just wrong. Film look => 24p (cinema) , not 60i(american TV)/50i(european TV)/30p(youtube) but maybe 25p... Deinterlacing video is the process to convert "i" (interlaced) footage to a "p" (progressive) footage, whatever the target "fps" (frames per second) is.

  • @NfectMedia oh ok

  • @Anchoses Thank you! I just noticed what when you said that! Good eye!

  • too much contrast...

  • My money is on the before shots.

  • Cool video

  • uhg... interlaced video

  • @snowbrdr88 yeah...

  • The colour looks good, but the contrast is up far to high; the shadows should be in harmony with the highlights, not opposed. Look at some real footage shot on film, that'll give you a good indication.

  • What camera you used to make this video?

  • a panasonic mini-dv thingy. I forget the model number but it's like 4 years old.

  • @StevenClaggett

DV, wow, a bit of old school there haha :D

  • not bad. look at my fake trailer and check out my colorcorrection. filmed with a hv 30.

  • good stuff, I like the shot at 55 seconds.

  • get after effects

  • de-interlace next time!

  • agreed

  • you shuld used the wide screm 00:48

  • good but cinematic look is in 16:9

  • ya, i was using an old mini-dv camera that doesn't get quite 16:9

  • okay. i think you can crop the edge with editing softwares too. or not?

  • oh, yeah it's possible. I was too lazy to figure it out, though.
