Its just too plain and boring to watch him play compared to ronnie. Yeah great shots here and there but theres no entertainment. His expression is just tooo boring. sigh sorry guys
He's not one of my very favourite players at all but when there were these rumors about his retirement during the last world championchip I really, really hoped that he's going to stay. He's a legend and snooker won't be the same without him. Keep my fingers cross for him the stay in the Top 16!
stephen is a very good player....no doubt. but his best years are over. at this maximum break he was very lucky.....had to play 2 combinations and luckily got back on the black. he doesn't have the power to play like 20 years ago. ronnie for example is definitly better. some of you may think now: " fuck off with that cocky o'sullivan" but you all know it's true. he needs to make place to younger players like judd trump. he was the youngest player who ever made a maximum ( at the age of 14).
@zitterstandy hendry was a world champion at 21yrs old ..... trump is nuthin compared to hendry , anyone who thinks hendry isnt the best hasnt seen him AT his best , best player ever , hendry has FORGOTTEN about more maximums than trumo has made !! if you think trump is in hendrys class you fukin blind
i have seen hendry at his best.....and his best games are over now.....yeah he was a good player....but this was ages ago. you can't tell me hendry is still better than o'sullivan. he just has so many records cause he is one of the oldest players. if you look at steve davis....he was 6 times the world champion. and why? cause he had enough time to do so !!! and i did not say that trump is better than hendry but he is on the best way to get so. hendry just has more experience
probably on another day the last black would have wobbled on the rim, hit that just a smidge thicker than perfect but the huge roar from the crowd probably sent the necessary shockwaves to pile it in lol.
I really do love to watch 147s. This was an especially good one because of the difficult pack breaking, and the few especially weighty shots toward the end.
@trunk516 it depends on how many are available. If the maximum remaining is 67 which requires at least 4 snooker, he won't go to the table for sure as it's not realistic to win in that situation - but he still can. I saw Ronnie did this one time. Maybe he tried to get his "feeling" back after a long period didn't pot a ball.
@lNVlCTUS let's see hendry get 5 in a row with todays players and not the easy lot he had from 85-96, the bigger players didnt prime til then, and hendry hasnt won UK or masters since age 27,
@DLPBurke Go troll elsewhere fool. Appearances in masters or uk QF since 97, 15 times; Semi final appearances, 10 times. Final appearances, 5 times. Clowns(that are apparently oh so great) that Hendry defeated to win 99 world, Paul hunter, James Wattana, Matthew Stephens, Ronnie O'sullivan, Mark Williams. Minus Hendry, O'sullivan, Williams, Higgins, average ranking titles the rest of the top 12 players have won, 2.5. Wow what great talent. However would a prime Hendry defeat such obvious class..
Not being funny, but are the pockets slightly larger on the pro tables? The final black looked as though it shouldnt have gone. It made a big deflection off the first cusion it hit.
Have a look at part 1, the first plant on the red. If that red was on my local table, there's no way it would have dropped. Never played on a pro table, but i'd love to.
Thanks for the reply ProtaganistLee. I watched that plant on the red and it is similar to one of the blacks in part 2. I have never played on a "pro table" also. I didn't really know such thing existed. My local snooker hall has beautiful tables (Riley) and i just presumed they were that of the same standards to what the pros use. I thought that red wouldn't have dropped where i play also. Or maybe i'm just deluded and my shots are just too far off!!!
@svnrf You honestly think he 'got lucky'. He's a pro, he won championships all his life, considered one of the best of all time -- yet you call him LUCKY! Idiot!
@svnrf i dun think so.. although it's a dead plant, as dead as dead, still he has to accurately cut the 1st red ball to the 2 dead read balls go into the pocket.. and i dun think anybody could play that shot... not in a tournament
If two people get a 147 in the same tournament, they share the £147,000 (well £157,000 with the £10000) This happened in 2008 when both Ronnie O'Sullivan and Ali Carter made one.
Thanks for the upload. I was recording all the matches of this tournament on my BT vision thing, although I deleted some of the matches including this one because they were taking up too much space. Stephen hendry is one of my favourite players by the way. d=-)
I'm not quite sure. I think he would get another £147,000 for a maximum, although not another £10,000. Although it's unlikely that the same player would get two maximums in the same tournament anyway though.
he only won one frame after that 147 and played such a crap snooker thereafter so not as such remain a legend. yes up until this very frame he was good in championship but if he still a legend then he should at least maintain the level which he had from start of his year championship.
@skeletwing The table is like double the size of a pooltable, the balls are smaller, and the pots are more tight with rounded edges, which makes it waaaay more difficult
WOW That was spectacular, I'm a massive Ronnie O'sullivan fan and his record maximum break was and still is the best I have ever seen but that was awesome. A true legend of the game.
the more i see it, the more i realized this 147 actually screwed him.
he simply couldnt concentrate afterwards such was his obvious high that he was outplayed by murphy for 10 frames afterwards.
what a shame as i was rooting for hendry this year.
it has to be murphy vs higgins in the final now.
i'm betting on higgins prevailing.
Although higgins is trying his best to stretch his limits by taking the ken doherty-2003wc-win-every-match-from-5-frames-behind-at-the-deciding-frame method.
