I dont have a dog but I did adopt homeless cats one of which who had stones thrown at her by angry neighbors who hate cats. My other lost his mother/siblings and was the only kitten to survive and he lived in a dumpster eating scraps of food. They are both happy and healthy now.

It was us humans who "domesticated" these animals and therefore our fault they're suffering in the shelters. It's the least we could do to adopt them and treat them well, when they've done no wrong to us. A great cause indeed.

Jill makes a lot of funny, sexi, silly, even ridiculous videos and I enjoy them all. But then we are all reminded by her "Lucky" videos that she is a pure animal lover at heart. How could we not admire her for that fact alone?

Adoption is a beautiful thing. Especially after I saw what they do to the un-adopted strays in the movie/documentary "Earthlings. *shudders* I feel even better when I contribute to wildlife conservation groups, like Conservation International and the Sierra Club. The Cousteau Society is also fantastic. :) We can give the gift of compassion not just over the holidays, but any and every day of the year! :)

i just don't trust pit bulls. i wish it were different but 97 times out of 100, when a dog attacks someone, it's a pit. i really think there's something in their DNA that makes them unpredictable. they're definitely made for fighting. those things are killing machines.

to a degree, i agree. however, there have been many stories of pits that were not bred to fight having random, unprovoked attacks...dogs that never had issues in the past. like herding dogs or hunting dogs, i truly feel that pits have something ingrained in them to attack. they are certainly built for it, physically, and i think it's ingrained in their DNA from a psychological standpoint. fighting or not, why is it 99% dog attacks are pits??

thwipp, if you mean cases of dogs biting people without provocation, you will find the list is topped by labradors, chow-chows, poodles, etc...please check out the plethora of friendly pit channels. they are out there, you just have to look. again, it is the large number of people who abuse dogs and force them to fight that is the REAL problem. thanks for listening, and please do check. if you prefer, i can pm you and give you a list of channels to visit.

i think i could survive a lab or poodle bite with minimal damage. i'm not so sure about a pit bite...or maybe "attack" is a better description. you can't compare the damage a pit is capable with a lab or poodle. come on. i appreciate your love of pits but i'm not going near one. i was basically attacked by one and it scared the living shit out of me. i was seriously fearful for my well-being. pits ain't a dog you want chasing you. believe me.

dude, i'm sure there are many pits that don't or haven't had issues (yet). i still feel they have a much higher potential to attack and do much more damage than any other other breed, by far. they are just way too unpredictable. i have seen all the cute shots of them before. i've also seen pix of people who got ripped apart because they couldn't get away cuz these dogs can be so vicious and are so powerful. the risk isn't worth the reward, imo. some animals aren't all that safe to be pets.

let's put it this way- i'd rather be attacked by a rott than a pit, even tho rotts far outweigh pits. neither would be fun, by a longshot, but i'd like my chances better with a rott. pits are potential killing machines. you're not changing my mind. if you want to take the risk and own a pit, that's up to you. i just hope for your sake it doesn't ever snap and attack someone you love or someone innocent.

they are unique dogs and even handsome...but i just can't trust them. they're too unpredictable and potentially extremely dangerous, imo. if/when they do attack, they do *serious* damage. if you gave me one for free, i wouldn't be comfortable enough to take it. i'm unwilling to take the chance it would flip out on me or someone else. i wouldn't take an alligator, either =)
