Of course Alice Cooper went on to accept Jesus into his heart and became a pastor. I guess it became harder for him to differentiate from fantasy/reality as time went on.
I was raised as a pentecostal Christian my entire life. I've been judged like no other and frankly I'm sick of it. It's not fun walking around in condemnation all the time, not being allowed to be yourself, not allowed to meet women I like, not allowed to do anything pretty much. If theres a hell that I will suffer and burn in than I honestly don't care. To get to this higher place if I must suffer for 80 years like this - I'd rather get it over with, jump off a bridge and meet my maker lol
When one considers that Creator is beyond all religious dogma, and every occult trickery to substitute creature beings in place of Creator as Man's guiding attendants, it becomes clear that both religion and occult are one and the same deception. Hebrew Scripture is despised by both, and yet it has never been quieted by either. Go figure.
Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption. Even non-religious people know this.
Homosexual activists, with support from the media, have succeeded at framing themselves as noble victims; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.
so i must admit it would be much more boring if all the religious fanatics didnt come here to push their beliefs aggressively on others, it really is quite ironic thy are so rude about it. as far as im concerned, aren't their beliefs to be kind and compassionate to others? wwjd? u all come here with ur judgemental statements, well i must say. if ur religion happens to be true u are doing a very bad job my good sirs. we dont go to ur church and proclaim how stupid you all are. so stay out of ours
@Sirflexalotisbuff Of course but you will also find that MOST of religious fanatics are fanatics because they aren't very smart, you will also find that people that aren't smart can't be polite when their faith in something (whatever it is) is pushed.
@DrThrashenstien AWW Look at this very disturbed sad sad thing. Wishing to be someone other than itself has to has to switch the stEIn to stIEn as a means to escape the sick life in which it lives. Lives? Na, exists. Nothing more. A thing like that has no life. But its true, you can be whatever you want to be but you cant be anybody you want to be. So please dont covet me from your basement dwelling thats very sad (for you). If you want, we can set up a fund for your psychiatric needs.
This is what really makes athiests and muslims and the others look so blind, foolish and just plain STUPID is that with all of the biblical prophecies about the Suffering Messiah (Jesus Christ) that came true AND about the future of the world which are taking place NOW. WHY does God say "keep your eyes on Israel" so we'll have an idea of what time it is? Isn't it strange how ISRAEL and JEWS are ALWAYS under attack and are the focal point of the world. THERE IS JESUS & LUCIFER, HEAVEN & HELL
The irony here is that physics is full of incredible facts and speculation that make even the most fantastic of claims seem at least remotely possible. The fantasy author Terry Pratchett was recently asked about his own beliefs and after some hesitation he replied, "I read Popular Science and Discover cover to cover and quantum physics is getting so weird that for all I know the archangel Gabriel could show up in my bedroom in the middle of the night at any time." Lol.
just cuz humans can suck doesnt mean there isnt a God...look up all the vids here on NDEs...my friend had one too and said being in Gods presence was worth 70 yrs of BS on earth
Your fact is irrelevant. Logic disproves God's existence, as generally defined, not science. Science disproves all the ancient legends in the Bible and the Koran. If God were to create something, He would have to use scientific means that already existed. If God created the scientific means for creation, He would have had to use other scientific means. This leads to a contradiction as God, the assumed creator of all things, would have to use that which He did not create to create.
@LPcustom76, " If God created the scientific means for creation, He would have had to use other scientific means."
My above statement is not an assumption, but a logical fact as creation entails having a means to create. The operation of this means is described by natural phenomena, by DEFINITION OF NATURAL, which describes "the external world in its entirety."
The fact that new evidence in science can discredit or change old theories has nothing to do with the existence of God.
@MegaAstrodude scripture claims that the all knowing all powerful supernatural God spoke everything into existance. is this not His means? if not, how does science disprove it?
Logic shows that God could not speak everything into existence as He exists Himself. He couldn't speak Himself into existence. Also, only sound can be spoken into existence.
Besides, even if God could speak everything into existence, He couldn't speak the hypothetical law that God speaking causes things to exist. This law could not have been spoken into existence by God because it did not yet exist. Therefore, such a law is contradictory so it must be wrong.
@MegaAstrodude "Besides, even if God could speak everything into existence, He couldn't speak the hypothetical law that God speaking causes things to exist. This law could not have been spoken into existence by God because it did not yet exist. Therefore, such a law is contradictory so it must be wrong."
i see you have no problem with the age old "chicken or egg" question. ; )
@MegaAstrodude My point is this, if this world and its dementions is all we know, then thats that. Just because we were created dosn't mean God was created. I know you know exactly what I mean too. God created the Heavens & the Earth and everything in them. The Heavens in that verse is talking about the universe. If God wanted to He could open the sky right now, grab the earth and shake us off of. I would love your permission to pm you. I'm NOT gonna try to convert you I just wanna prove God 2 U
@DrThrashenstein In the very same Bible supposed "God" also said that " When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21)"
@DrThrashenstein and "If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her. (Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT) ".
Take it how you want, I do not see a divine all-forgiving, all-understanding, all-powerful, all-loving being saying any of these things (And this is just the tip of the iceberg, I could go with quotes)
@DrThrashenstein I'm trying to make you consider the possibility that it wasn't an all-loving, understanding, knowing and powerful being we call "God", who inspired the Bible.
You're quoting Bible as the ultimate truth. However, God saying things like the verses I quoted are still the part of the same source. So you either accept all of it or none of it. You can't cherry pick the good parts.
There's nothing to show that God from the bible had any more knowledge than the people at the time
@ModeLTU I do accept it all and I'm not cherry picking anything. One thing you have to undestand is that God is so superior to us in everyway, forget it. Put yourself in his shoes for a min. You create a race of beings to walk, talk, laugh, joke, play, eat etc. and you put them above your ancient angels causing one to say "you put these dogs over us? I'll show you they dont love you & when I'm done killing all of them I'm gonna kill you then I'll be God"! And then we end up sinning everyday.
@ModeLTU When God sent the flood His intentions weren't to just let a few survive and start the whole human plague again. He was he ever made us and was going to destroy us, spirit and all. But he listened to Noah's pleading to give us another chance and He did. Now look where we are. were further away from God than any other time in history. On top of it all God makes it so simple for each and everyone of us to get into Heaven just by believing in His Son Jesus Christ and turning from our sins.
@DrThrashenstein You did it again. You keep repeating all these stories from the Bible and dogmas like "believe in JC and you will be able to get into Heaven" and not actually answering any of my questions or refuting any of my points.
You're sort of going "well, God may have done/said some fucked up things, but LOOK, HE IS GIVING US ETERNAL LIFE, why don't you believe!".
@ModeLTU Bro, you aint asking me anything man, you quote ONE verse that you have no idea what it even means I can send you a link from an athiest regarding that verse and how STUPID it is for people to even question the meaning of it. What does that tell ya. And theirs plenty more athiests that say the same thing about countless verses knowing the arguments are weak and always get slammed. ASK me something then bro. I'll be more than happy to answer you to the best of my knowledge.
@DrThrashenstein I think I can read english pretty well. I read that God commanded a rapist to marry rape victim. Which part am I "interpreting" wrong?
I asked you if YOU think that those laws God supposedly gave us should be acceptable by today's standards. You didn't answer that, let me recopy if you insist
@DrThrashenstein "Ok then. So are you saying that forcing a woman to marry her rapist is a higher moral value than the ones we use in our society currently? What about beating a slave so that he can't walk for a couple of days and not be punished? Do you think that's an acceptable social standard?"
@DrThrashenstein Why should I believe other than the fear that if I don't, I will get punished? Where's the evidence your story is real? Why don't you believe countless other similar stories throughout the human history?
I get that the 'generic' story is nice and comfortable "Just believe and everything will be fine, trust me".
But some people need actual evidence and logic behind the story before they accept something as a part of our reality.
@DrThrashenstein Bible was written. The simplest explanation is often the correct one. So unless God actually is a bloodthirsty madman whose moral values are suspiciously parallel to those of people from Bible times, I think it's a tiny bit more likely that Bible was written by human beings, not a divine and perfect being like God
@ModeLTU I'm getting a vibe that you think those verses are condoning rape or something along those lines. Am I right? If that is the case I can understand your point of view. I can grab hundreds of verses of scripture and lay them out and say "look, God is a monster". I'm not saying thats what your saying at all, but people do that for their own sick reasons. I cant explain it in 400 characters including spaces and periods ie.. But its actually very simple.
@DrThrashenstein Well, yeah, that was kind of my point. God from the Bible is not all-knowing, all-understanding and perfect. His moral values are basically identical to those of human beings from the times Bible was written. Which then following common sense tells me that it wasn't God who inspired the Bible. Unless, of course, that God is supposed to be that primitive, which is less likely than the simpler explanation.
@ModeLTU Well my friend I can assure you God (God from bible, the God of Abraham) is all knowing, understanding and perfect in every. His ways are not our ways and our ways are not his ways. His moral values are much more than we could even imagine. We cant even follow the 10 commandments! Not one of us hasn't lied ya know. But people say, "ahh, a lil white lie never hurt anyone". THATS CRAP! We cant even love one another yet alone our enemy. Gods ways are far superior to ours.
@DrThrashenstein Ok then. So are you saying that forcing a woman to marry her rapist is a higher moral value than the ones we use in our society currently? What about beating a slave so that he can't walk for a couple of days and not be punished? Do you think that's an acceptable social standard?
It seems like you already made up your mind that it was, in fact, God who inspired the bible, even if you have no actual proof.. I'll go ahead and say that it's the deeply rooted fear speaking
@ModeLTU See dude LOL there ya go. You do have a computer in front of your face right now correct? Do you believe that? LOL. OK then since you have the access to the original HEBREW texts WHY DONT YOU READ THAT VERSE IN HEBREW AND THEN YOU CAN UNDERSTAND IT. DONT BE LAZY. INVESTIGATE BECAUSE YOU CANT PLEE LAZYNESS! Did you ever hear one of your Mexican friends try to explain something technical to you in english? SAME THING DUDE. The truth IS there so go seek it.
@ModeLTU No not at all they just need to be studied better. Why do you think theres so much confusion? If people dont understand they should just STOP and go directly to the source. I'm sure you agree that that just makes too much sense right
@DrThrashenstein I'm just wondering if you care to understand the reality we live in at all. What confusion?
Christian confusion as to why God appears to be so illogical at times and their attempts to "study it better" and find a way to justify that? You're admitting bias then, because you are actively trying to justify why God supposedly said those things instead of thinking if an omnipotent/omniscient being like God would say those things AT ALL.
@ModeLTU THERE IS BIAS, HIPOCROCY, BACKSLIDERS, BACKSTABBING, PEDOPHILES, ADULTEREY AND EVERY OTHER SIN IN THE CHURCH TODAY! ITS SICKENING! I know for a fact not everybody at my church isn't a Christian, but they say they are knowing damn well they have a girlfriend on the side and a drug habit. IT SICKENS ME MTU!! And it makes God look bad and nonexistent. Jesus said himself "not everyone that says Lord, Lord will see the kingdom of God. I cant explain everything to you in little youtube boxes
@ModeLTU The confusion I'm speaking about isn't your everyday life issues, thats not confusing at all. I'm talking about one God, one bible with over 50 interpretations being taught by people that have no clue as to what the Hebrew texts say and dont bother to learn them when their told to. If your gonna dedicate your life to something wouldn't you wanna know everything about it before teaching it to other people? I KNOW YOU WOULD AND I DONT EVEN KNOW YOU!! I can tell your passionate.
@DrThrashenstein I mean, why do you think atheists don't believe in God? Because we are inherently evil and are trying to reject his truths? Is that how you view us?
Why wouldn't I accept that Jesus Christ was sent to save us from our sins and all I need to do is follow the story blindly in order to get my reward, if I was sure that the story was real? Because of some "ego" and "temptation"?
That's ETERNAL FRIGGIN' LIFE we're talking about. That's like THE best thing ever
@ModeLTU And then on top of all that you get these IDIOTS like the westboro baptist church who are NOT Christians at all and the t.v. evangelists BEGGING for your money and in return sending you a prayer cloth (filthy rag) or a tiny spray bottle filled with anointed water (rat piss) lining their pockets and building their mansions saying God wants them to have it !?!? F**K!! THATS WHY PEOPLE HATE "REAL CHRISTIANS" AND GOD! Gimme your permission to pm you & I can explain that verse to you.
@DrThrashenstein It would be unbelievably awesome if it was real, for obvious reasons. BUT then there's realization how easily human mind is manipulated when it comes down to these kind of concepts. Because of this realization, it's easier to ignore the "reward/punishment" part and look at the SOURCE of the claims (Bible) in an unbiased fashion. And when we do that, we see that the way God is described is more reminiscent of primitive human beings, not a perfect and almighty being
@ModeLTU BTW the athiestic explaination of the verses in question is kinda close. I can tell he was debated against maybe 2-3 people that kinda had an idea of what it meant. It may have been taught to them but they were too busy shooting spitballs at each other or were half asleep/half awake idk the story. Maybe it was taught to them by someone that had the "the old testament dont matter anymore" mentality and lied to them.
@DrThrashenstein I'm not arguing that christianity is false due to hypocrites in church you mentioned or the likes of westboro baptist church same way people shouldn't argue that atheism is false because there are a lot of stupid atheists.
I'm simply trying to point out flaws in the actual source of the beliefs. It's a fact that most people who believe never studied or read the Bible without inherent bias. Most of them were simply told the generic
@DrThrashenstein "Believe in Jesus Christ, follow these rules and you will be saved" story and believed it, because there seemed to be no harm in believing, plus there are HUGE benefits in case the story is true.
It just seems like most believers don't care to research whether their beliefs hold up against logic and evidence before accepting the full story as a part of their reality..
Sure, you can PM me, no problem. And it isn't just these few verses. I can keep quoting and quoting
@ModeLTU Cool man, I'll pm you later on today. Hey, just for the record, if I seemed like a H U G E A-HOLE at one time or another it wasn't you man. I re-read some of my posts and to me I seemed to come off as some type of a dickhead. It just pisses me off (just as you mentioned) "most people who believe never studied or read the Bible" but they try & teach it & THATS the cause of confusion. Or picket abortion clinics spewing HATE wearing wwjd bracelets? He wouldn't be doing that A-HOLES!
@DrThrashenstein I wish a lot of Christians would be more Christian. How the hell they can justify Jesus wanting people to die I just cannot understand.
@squamish4244 I hear ya loud and clear. Christian means Christ like and to be like Christ EVERY day is possible but very very difficult, especially if one lets their fire get low and stops communicating. There's been so many occasions where I've shamed Christ myself and had people say, "hmm and your supposed to be a Christian". Nothing makes you feel like a low-life scumbag more than having that said to you. I have a serious anger issue and swear and break stuff like a big baby.
@squamish4244 But I'm not the man I was 12 years ago thats for damn sure. The change didn't just come from reading the bible and going to church. It was instantaneous when I first accepted Christ and became filled with the Holy Spirit. But then through the years I, ME, MYSELF started letting little bits n' pieces of my former life creep back in my new life and became corrupt again and almost died. But Christ didn't leave me as he is true to His word, the fire is hot, the prodigal son is home.
@DrThrashenstein many barbaric practices supposed God accepted and encouraged. And there are a bunch of other problems, too. Basically I think that 1 single flaw or mistake is enough to discredit the WHOLE source (so no, you can't continue believing that there is heaven and eternal life and ignore the rest of the issues with the book and be considered serious), because that source is claimed to have come from a divine and perfect being, who cannot make mistakes or be wrong.
@DrThrashenstein I can't claim to understand how God thinks or operates. But even though I'm unwise and primitive compared to what God is supposed to be, I'm still capable of understanding why a being who believers claim is omniscient/omnipotent/understanding/forgiving shouldn't say most of those things written in the Bible.
I'm sceptical because to me accepting concepts as extraordinary as life after death or a being who "watches over us" and has the ability to judge us afterwards
@DrThrashenstein requires a bit more evidence than "LOL you better believe or else". I'm sceptical because I realize how easily human mind is manipulated and conditioned. I'm sceptical because I can look at the history and see similar cases of propaganda and fear mongering, which humans used on each other in order go gain power and control.
It SEEMS like the more extraordinary the claim, the more evidence it should require. However, with religion it's exactly the opposite for some reason
@DrThrashenstein The logical conclusion? Unless God is actually bloodthirsty/egotistical/not omniscient, the other more likely explanation is that Bible was written without any divine inspiration, by humans who wanted to gain control and manipulate each other for their own benefit.
Which is what we have been doing for pretty much as long as we existed.
@DrThrashenstein I was there, believe me. I used to be terrified to question, because in the back of my mind I thought that God can read my thoughts and will punish me for doubting him. There are a lot of psychological issues involved in these matters.
God's ways are SUPPOSED to be superior to ours, I agree completely. But from what I can observe in the Bible, that God is not any more advanced than the people who lived at those times.
@ModeLTU Naa your just a God hater and I dont know why. Maybe you think God is supposed to be your servant or santa clause. I'm very sorry that you never gave God a chance or had enough faith for Him to show Himself in your life and to others through you. Maybe you were taught wrong from the start, there can be many factors for your ill feelings towards Him. But I do know its YOU and not Him that failed in the relationship. But its only too late when your DEAD. Nobody is promised tomorrow.
@DrThrashenstein I'm not a God hater. I don't acknowledge his existence, at least not the way he's described in the Bible. I think God is supposed to be an all-loving and understanding being who cares about us. But when I read the Bible and see that God supports sexism/slavery/condones rape and punishes people for something they didn't choose (i.e. homosexuality) even though he was the one to make us the way we are in the first place, I become highly doubtful that it was God who inspired it.
@DrThrashenstein Atheists don't rebel against God or 'worship Satan'. We DON'T BELIEVE THE STORY AT ALL. We don't acknowledge any of that being A PART OF OUR REALITY because apart from dogmatic BS, you really like to preach over and over again, there's nothing to suggest that story 'checks out'.
@ModeLTU ww.onyxbits.de/content/atheist-dont-make-insanely-stupid-argument OKAY!! Theres PLENTY more of this from athiests all over the web teaching young minds not to believe in God and what NOT to say so they dont look like FOOLS especially in front of people. So it "CHECKS OUT" bro. If you need me to hold your hand anymore just let me know I would love nothing more than to show you more of YOUR athiestic blogs and sites etc.. Next time just take my word for it I have NO reason to lie
@DrThrashenstein The question then arises, why would God adjust himself to our stupid and primitive rules? If all he did was accept whatever barbaric practices we used, where does the "divine" morals come from?
God decided that the best way to "punish" the rapist is to make him pay money and take care of her, because otherwise women had very few rights at those times?
@DrThrashenstein Women should have been happy if a man happened to rape her, because now she will get more benefits, which otherwise women weren't entitled to? What kind of pathetic logic is that. I get that society was different back then. But why wouldn't God EXPLAIN to these primitive people WHY these kind of concepts were wrong? He didn't struggle to tell us that killing each other or stealing from each other was wrong.
@DrThrashenstein Why does he only seem to struggle with more complex concepts like homosexuality/sexism/slavery, the same concepts we slowly, but surely figured out? Sure, YOU claim and believe that God "knew what was morally right all along, he just decided to adjust to our own rules", but where is the proof that it was the case?
Show me some examples where God is showing some kind of knowledge which wasn't supposed to be available to the people at the time.
@DrThrashenstein Again, you just seem to focus on the good parts and claim God's word is perfect and ignore those parts where God can easily be compared to a bloodthirsty tyrant.
We aren't perfect, that's right, we are animals after all and we are driven by instincts. But this isn't a competition to see who's better. God CANNOT be wrong at any point in time. One little mistake and inconsistency and that's it, your whole source (bible) which claims to be inspired by God is null and void
@MegaAstrodude Your a very smart person and I really like the way you talk and phrase things. It makes people think and nowadays people really need to start thinking more. Butt check this out, (I said butt check, ahuh huh). You and I along with every other person since the beginning of time were created, so therefore thats what we know. I was watching a documentary on child abuse and there was an abused girl that endure extreme bodly beatings everyday and thought every home was like that.
This is the guy that exposed Peter Popoff? I have a question. What did Peter Popoff do to you after you exposed him? I am assuming a guy like that is in it for the money (obviously) but did he try to get back at you or sue you? I think most academic people probably don't go after criminals like Peter Popoff because they don't want to deal with the backlash they'll receive.
@Water4Jeremiah What could he sue for? Defamation of character? All that happened is that Popoff had to declare bankruptcy for his business failing. Pointing out that other people do not fulfil their job's requirements (even if it is magical powers) is legal. In fact, not living up to them is illegal, depending on the gravity.
I am glad he exposed him. Someone would have eventually, but the skeptic foundation is a great thing in the world. Thank "God" for it :D
@devex12345 Thanks for answering. I've noticed that the main reason for all faith-based groups is money. I remember hearing the Kent Hovind tapes and how he was hoping to sue people to get money from them, so I was wondering if Peter Popoff would have succumbed to greed. I've noticed in academics people tend to be happy with the job that they are doing, and the money is there to just help them do that job. Those educated people will create better memories than Popoff-types who can't trust anyone
I found where God left His Watermark of the Garden of Eden Mr. Randi. Look at my videos to see for yourself. Make sure you contact me to send me that check. (lol, ya right).
@handlas1 That coming from someone who had "I'm 6 years old" under their About Me on their channel page, but of course you took that down before you posted your little fantasy remark- oxygen thief. Fuck off.
@downyourtube Haven't edited my profile at all...hummm might wanna stop lying, deluded yourself further. Look how angry you get as well. What an upstanding person you are. Go doodle on Google maps some more.
@downyourtube since you won't show comments unless approved on your own video. I'll comment about it here! It's hilariously dreadful. Stop doodling on Google maps plz and then only approving comments by people that are as deluded as you. Now YOU send me a check (lol, ya right).
It seems that a lot of believers don't get how science works. Its purpose is not to discredit religion. Its purpose is to understand how the reality we live in works to the best possible extent. Sure, maybe afterlife exists. Maybe there are ghosts. However, as far as the current knowledge is concerned no proof of that sort exists.
Human mind can be tricked easily, those who want to believe in something to make their life more 'magical' will believe it regardless of the logic and evidence.
@ModeLTU well you should target it at the misguided people who like to call themself religious because i share the same idea of your comment to some extent. But if you would likesome evidence people who have had near death experiences have said stuff related to sprituality ut ill let you read that but i understand what you mean and am glad i found a sensible person on the topic of religion and science
Well, I can't say I know too much about near death experiences, but the way I would explain it is that once you're about to die, your mind kinda goes into "oh fuck" mode and your subconscious will do anything to make you feel good before you actually die. This is exactly why people from different religious backgrounds give different explanations of what they saw. It's not always Jesus Christ you know.
@8matthewlee8 It should - we can fully explain NDE's using neuroscience. Sagan does so in "Dragons of Eden" quite eloquently. The neurons misfire and the brain hallucinates and the results are almost ALWAYS the same: bright lights, floating, and euphoria. Either they are all supernatural or they are not, but the fact that we can explain them scientifically points to the latter.
@scjoiner well you think you can but i can always reply *it could be god etc* see you can not believe me but i don't care. i respect the athiest belief as i was once an athiest but it wont change anyway
@DukeTwicep many things but i guess you might be an athiest and if ilist the reasons why there is going to be a massive arguement about why you think i am wrong and i am right. Unless that isn't what's going to happen
@8matthewlee8 Well actually it would be interesting just to know what made you believe. If you believe then you shouldn't be afraid of debate as you're probably right, right? Anyway, if it makes you feel better I promise not to start an argument and try to rationalize.
@DukeTwicep fine. I used to be an athiest until my dad introduced me to the new testament. I read it and i was like "this doesn't make sense, it's just a lie" so he told me to think of it spiritually. I didn't understand what it was until i went on my dads favourite and found this spiritual website which explained it and made it clear. so i read the bible and i thought of it's spiritual meaning and I felt something and it made sense. but christian means something else to me and it's baptised
@ModeLTU I myself am a paranormal investigator and I can tell you first hand there are supernatural beings that are either memories replaying themselves, or someone who still has something to finish. Sure it's not like we are staring at these beings and having full fledged conversations with them, but there is proof of a something beyond the grave, as I have had a direct response from a spirit, it's bone-chilling knowing that someone was talking to me from the after-life.
@abandonallyourhope I'd like to experience that myself. It's kinda hard to just take your word for it, you know. Again, I'm obviously sceptical, but there are many psychological factors regarding cases like those. Human mind is tricked extremely easily
@abandonallyourhope Haha, "a paranormal investigator"? Is it true that you don't need any education at all to be a such? Or that in fact no real college or school or university offers any either? Hehe, of course it is..and isn't that the case with "faith healers" too? I'll give you a million dollars just like Randi if you can ever show ANYTHING "paranormal"!
Agreed. Science seeks to explain how the physical world works, not advocate any political or religious belief, although the fruits of scientific research can be misused or abused as much as any ideology.
Hate to break it to you, old man, but what's rational & irrational depends merely on perspective. Even your marvelous author of the book from 1843 would find things you think irrational & you the same of him & that's just based for norms of 2 different time periods! To think that your version of the truth or rationality is the correct way for everybody is not just irrational, but stupid. That's just the truth!
Is it true that the $1 million prize for proving psychic powers are scientifically provable has expired? No claimants in 30 years or so I guess. I'm glad Randi is relentless in his debunking, but he is up against the world tide of belief and ignorance.
homeopathy and alternative medicines have been used for centuries successfully by different races. There have been many scientific experiments on ESP proving the opposite to what Randi says. Reputable people all over the world for centuries have seen apparitions & they are not paid for seeing them. Most aren't psychotic or religious. Why do we still believe???...because it hasnt been proven that that there is no afterlife.
@GhostBusterTrace Alternative medicine that worked became medicine. Homeopathy does not work more than a placebo sugar pill. Which you should know if you read any met analysis of thousands of people who used it.
You can believe what you want privately, that doesn't change how logic works. You are saying something works, you are the one who must provide proof for how it works.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. You do not have that proof. Therefore your claim cannot be considered true.
@GhostBusterTrace To prove that something does not exist? That is an impossible task and a logical fallacy. Tell me, do you live off believing what is true, or do you live off believing in what can't be proven as untrue? There is a difference. If you see a batch of poisonous berries, do you think "I'm not going to eat those, because they are proven to be poisonous." or do you think "We can't prove that they AREN'T poisonous, so I'm going to eat them."?

James Randi is a hater. Not only is he wrong about a lot of things, he's flat out a hater. I personally think the most hardcore skeptics are the ones who want to believe the most. I have had many experiences with a haunted house and I'm not crazy, nor are any of my family members, not to mention numerous friends that have had experiences in my home, either. So, he says there is no afterlife? Pffff, come stay in my house for a couple of days, Mr. Randi.
@sniggity At no point has Randi ever said that there is no paranormal, no spiritual life. All he's ever said is that there is no evidence for it and he doesn't believe there is. He just points out the flaws in a lot of the thinking that surrounds magic, the spiritual and the religious. Randi has little time for people who take advantage of peoples' credulity for personal gain. He's never said anyone was wrong who wasn't. How does this make him a hater?
I think that pretty harsh, GhostBusterTrace........ Would you call some one a fool simpy becuase they havn't experianced what you have? Why don't you take the million dollar challenge? And prove the existance of an afterlife? Personaly, I think there could BE an afterlife, but.... I havn't seen or experianced anything that would convince me otherwise. Good luck with life. ;p
I listen to this man and I cant believe that someone can be so naive. I also find him quite condescending. I have been investigating the paranormal for a few years now, investigating ghosts with a few others. I am just your average person, work as a nurse, married, children, volunteer. No mental health probs. I have, in the presence of others, witnessed paranormal phenomena. There is an afterlife and this fool will experience it himself one day.
@GhostBusterTrace He is one of the most eminent investigators of the paranormal that has ever lived. Unfortunately, he's never found any proof of ghosts, spirit mediums, psychics, ESP, homeopathy, alternative medicine etc. etc. and has frequently managed to demonstrate very clearly that those making these claims are at best confused and at worst criminal. More to the point, he can effectively replicate many of the effects used by the most public exponents of magical thinking. Why is he a fool?
This kind of people pretend to have an scientific mind but he is actually not interested in knowing the truth but denying the truth which brings more benefit and respect from followers. He is misleading people. He wont accept to experiment and learn new things about a different school of thought if does not have the opportunity to get a person for his show or his branding. Dont be foolish by taking him granted blindly
If you are right and I, as a Christian believer, am wrong. Fine. After death, nothing but eternal blackness. So for the both of us, its cool. Nothing to worry about.
Now, if you are wrong, and I, as a christian believer, am right, where will that leave you? Are you 100% sure you know the truth?
@signbiz well if muslims are right then you are skrewed or if zues is real or odin, or judisum. pick a religion and place your bets ladies and gentalmen.............. ive desided to keep my reasoning abilities and not play the game
@signbiz He has stated many times he cant prove people like you wrong......but of course you cant prove a negative, therefore you as the believer must prove the validity of your belief. Something, of course, you cannot do.
@signbiz Ah yes, Once again we have Pascal's wager thrown at us. The fallacy comes from the idea that if you live a life believing in the supernatural and it turns out there is no supernatural then you've lost nothing. Yes you have. You've lost a life lived in reality, not delusion. You've lost a life not lived in utter fear of the afterlife. And that's what this all comes down to doesn't it? Fear. The fear of "what if I'm wrong". When all else fails religion always comes down to fear.
You know what's funny... When I was little, I once thought that Star Wars was real, and that those space warriors were really dying, and then coming back to life and dying again every time I watched it. It made me sad, and then I started to wonder if they were getting mad at me, for making them come to life and die again...
Mr. Randi you mentioned something like, "things like the internet should save us" I think this was in referance to the mass resignation that leads to a societies downfall. The mass insanity if you will. the problem with the internet is that where there is no reputation a society falls........and the plastic devices used to provide reputation at current online, are far from reality, rather they are more so artificial, it will be intereting what surfaces.
I love the story about Alice Cooper. I'm an actor and so do that same thing stepping in and out of fantasy. You'd think my fellow actors would do the same in their lives as they do in their work. But sadly, many of them with whom I've worked cling to some wacky woo or belief. Seems to go on a lot in the arts.
@dilandau3000 What about OBE's and NDE and past life recall are all those nonsesense? who are you to say what is possible and impossible when you are ignorant to natures deeper more subtle forces. If you call these phenomenon "paranormal" and your definition of paranormal is non-natural then no shit they are impossible, everything happens within natures laws, we may just ignorant of the higher laws which make these things possible.
@soldatheero yeah have you ever heard of doctor Ian stevenson and jim b tucker!! They foudn lots of children who made accurate claims about past lives!!
@ebrobaru Yes it is apart of nature however it is still unexplainable and still completely shatters our newtonian way of understanding the universe. It's similar to paranormal claims because they are bpth contrary to materialistic logic of what is possible and what is impossible. The only difference is the later cannot be reproduced in a labratory. Do you think science is going to prove the existnece of infinite parallel universes and super strings? No they are methaphysical THEORIES.
@325982669 Not necessarily, they can be considered one electron depending on how you interpret the phenomenon. Even one electron in two places, do realize how contradictory that is to normal logic.
@dilandau3000 Sure there not "paranormal" w/e that means. The point is similar to what you call "paranormal" they defy ordinary logic. The fact that two electrons can effect one another instaneously no matter the amount of space between them is not ordinary, it suggests something very strange. The entire world of quantum mechanics makes one question the scientific worlds current materialistic paradigm of reality. So consider other phenom that seem impossible may indeed also be possible &veryreal
@soldatheero Still, that´s part of nature. It deserves to be study and to try to understand it. It is not paranormal. To try to make it similar to paranormal claims is just out of the question

I can scientifically prove supernatural events exists:
Ho: Events before the BB were no different to natural events, they followed natural laws.
H1: Events before the BB were different than natural events, they didn't followed natural law.
Evidence: Basic elements H,He,Li were created during the BB. There was no matter and no universe, therefore no natural laws before BB.
Conclusion, we reject Ho and accept H1. The origin of BB is supernatural. Simple scientific method. Where's my check?

so i must admit it would be much more boring if all the religious fanatics didnt come here to push their beliefs aggressively on others, it really is quite ironic thy are so rude about it. as far as im concerned, aren't their beliefs to be kind and compassionate to others? wwjd? u all come here with ur judgemental statements, well i must say. if ur religion happens to be true u are doing a very bad job my good sirs. we dont go to ur church and proclaim how stupid you all are. so stay out of ours

The fantasy author Terry Pratchett was recently asked about his own beliefs and after some hesitation he replied, "I read Popular Science and Discover cover to cover and quantum physics is getting so weird that for all I know the archangel Gabriel could show up in my bedroom in the middle of the night at any time." Lol.

it is interesting to me that science finds new (evidence) to trump old regularly. yet science is the first to discredit God.
LPcustom76 7 months ago
@LPcustom76,
Logic trumps God long before science.
MegaAstrodude 6 months ago
@MegaAstrodude nice opinion, but i stated a fact.
LPcustom76 6 months ago
@LPcustom76,
Your fact is irrelevant.
MegaAstrodude 6 months ago
@MegaAstrodude " If God created the scientific means for creation, He would have had to use other scientific means."
but this is just an assumption. and please tell me how my statement is irrelevant.
LPcustom76 6 months ago
@LPcustom76, " If God created the scientific means for creation, He would have had to use other scientific means."
My above statement is not an assumption, but a logical fact as creation entails having a means to create. The operation of this means is described by natural phenomena, by DEFINITION OF NATURAL, which describes "the external world in its entirety."
The fact that new evidence in science can discredit or change old theories has nothing to do with the existence of God.
MegaAstrodude 6 months ago
@MegaAstrodude scripture claims that the all knowing all powerful supernatural God spoke everything into existance. is this not His means? if not, how does science disprove it?
LPcustom76 6 months ago
@LPcustom76,
Logic shows that God could not speak everything into existence as He exists Himself.

@MegaAstrodude My point is this, if this world and its dementions is all we know, then thats that. Just because we were created dosn't mean God was created. I know you know exactly what I mean too. God created the Heavens & the Earth and everything in them. The Heavens in that verse is talking about the universe.
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein and "If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her. (Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT) ".
Take it how you want, I do not see a divine all-forgiving, all-understanding, all-powerful, all-loving being saying any of these things (And this is just the tip of the iceberg, I could go with quotes)
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@ModeLTU I dont understand what your trying to say or prove by quoting that verse. I dont know man ya lost me. Try back tomorrow.
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein I'm trying to make you consider the possibility that it wasn't an all-loving, understanding, knowing and powerful being we call "God", who inspired the Bible.
You're quoting Bible as the ultimate truth. However, God saying things like the verses I quoted are still the part of the same source. So you either accept all of it or none of it. You can't cherry pick the good parts.
There's nothing to show that God from the bible had any more knowledge than the people at the time
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@ModeLTU I do accept it all and I'm not cherry picking anything. One thing you have to undestand is that God is so superior to us in everyway, forget it. Put yourself in his shoes for a min. You create a race of beings to walk, talk, laugh, joke, play, eat etc. and you put them above your ancient angels causing one to say "you put these dogs over us? I'll show you they dont love you & when I'm done killing all of them I'm gonna kill you then I'll be God"! And then we end up sinning everyday.
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein Okay I guess we have nothing to discuss, you try to justify Bible by using mythology from the Bible itself. Angels huh?
Good luck, sir
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@ModeLTU When God sent the flood His intentions weren't to just let a few survive and start the whole human plague again. He was he ever made us and was going to destroy us, spirit and all. But he listened to Noah's pleading to give us another chance and He did. Now look where we are. were further away from God than any other time in history. On top of it all God makes it so simple for each and everyone of us to get into Heaven just by believing in His Son Jesus Christ and turning from our sins.
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein You did it again. You keep repeating all these stories from the Bible and dogmas like "believe in JC and you will be able to get into Heaven" and not actually answering any of my questions or refuting any of my points.
You're sort of going "well, God may have done/said some fucked up things, but LOOK, HE IS GIVING US ETERNAL LIFE, why don't you believe!".
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@ModeLTU Bro, you aint asking me anything man, you quote ONE verse that you have no idea what it even means I can send you a link from an athiest regarding that verse and how STUPID it is for people to even question the meaning of it. What does that tell ya. And theirs plenty more athiests that say the same thing about countless verses knowing the arguments are weak and always get slammed. ASK me something then bro. I'll be more than happy to answer you to the best of my knowledge.
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein I think I can read english pretty well. I read that God commanded a rapist to marry rape victim. Which part am I "interpreting" wrong?
I asked you if YOU think that those laws God supposedly gave us should be acceptable by today's standards. You didn't answer that, let me recopy if you insist
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein "Ok then. So are you saying that forcing a woman to marry her rapist is a higher moral value than the ones we use in our society currently? What about beating a slave so that he can't walk for a couple of days and not be punished? Do you think that's an acceptable social standard?"
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein Why should I believe other than the fear that if I don't, I will get punished? Where's the evidence your story is real? Why don't you believe countless other similar stories throughout the human history?
I get that the 'generic' story is nice and comfortable "Just believe and everything will be fine, trust me".
But some people need actual evidence and logic behind the story before they accept something as a part of our reality.
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein Bible was written. The simplest explanation is often the correct one. So unless God actually is a bloodthirsty madman whose moral values are suspiciously parallel to those of people from Bible times, I think it's a tiny bit more likely that Bible was written by human beings, not a divine and perfect being like God
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@ModeLTU I'm getting a vibe that you think those verses are condoning rape or something along those lines. Am I right? If that is the case I can understand your point of view. I can grab hundreds of verses of scripture and lay them out and say "look, God is a monster". I'm not saying thats what your saying at all, but people do that for their own sick reasons. I cant explain it in 400 characters including spaces and periods ie.. But its actually very simple.
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein Well, yeah, that was kind of my point. God from the Bible is not all-knowing, all-understanding and perfect. His moral values are basically identical to those of human beings from the times Bible was written. Which then following common sense tells me that it wasn't God who inspired the Bible. Unless, of course, that God is supposed to be that primitive, which is less likely than the simpler explanation.
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@ModeLTU Well my friend I can assure you God (God from bible, the God of Abraham) is all knowing, understanding and perfect in every. His ways are not our ways and our ways are not his ways. His moral values are much more than we could even imagine. We cant even follow the 10 commandments! Not one of us hasn't lied ya know. But people say, "ahh, a lil white lie never hurt anyone". THATS CRAP! We cant even love one another yet alone our enemy. Gods ways are far superior to ours.
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein Ok then. So are you saying that forcing a woman to marry her rapist is a higher moral value than the ones we use in our society currently? What about beating a slave so that he can't walk for a couple of days and not be punished? Do you think that's an acceptable social standard?
It seems like you already made up your mind that it was, in fact, God who inspired the bible, even if you have no actual proof.. I'll go ahead and say that it's the deeply rooted fear speaking
ModeLTU 6 months ago
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein Umm.. Are you claiming all the official english translations are wrong then?
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@ModeLTU No not at all they just need to be studied better. Why do you think theres so much confusion? If people dont understand they should just STOP and go directly to the source. I'm sure you agree that that just makes too much sense right
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein I'm just wondering if you care to understand the reality we live in at all. What confusion?
Christian confusion as to why God appears to be so illogical at times and their attempts to "study it better" and find a way to justify that? You're admitting bias then, because you are actively trying to justify why God supposedly said those things instead of thinking if an omnipotent/omniscient being like God would say those things AT ALL.
ModeLTU 6 months ago
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@ModeLTU The confusion I'm speaking about isn't your everyday life issues, thats not confusing at all. I'm talking about one God, one bible with over 50 interpretations being taught by people that have no clue as to what the Hebrew texts say and dont bother to learn them when their told to. If your gonna dedicate your life to something wouldn't you wanna know everything about it before teaching it to other people? I KNOW YOU WOULD AND I DONT EVEN KNOW YOU!! I can tell your passionate.
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein I mean, why do you think atheists don't believe in God? Because we are inherently evil and are trying to reject his truths? Is that how you view us?
Why wouldn't I accept that Jesus Christ was sent to save us from our sins and all I need to do is follow the story blindly in order to get my reward, if I was sure that the story was real? Because of some "ego" and "temptation"?
That's ETERNAL FRIGGIN' LIFE we're talking about. That's like THE best thing ever
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@ModeLTU And then on top of all that you get these IDIOTS like the westboro baptist church who are NOT Christians at all and the t.v. evangelists BEGGING for your money and in return sending you a prayer cloth (filthy rag) or a tiny spray bottle filled with anointed water (rat piss) lining their pockets and building their mansions saying God wants them to have it !?!? F**K!! THATS WHY PEOPLE HATE "REAL CHRISTIANS" AND GOD! Gimme your permission to pm you & I can explain that verse to you.
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein It would be unbelievably awesome if it was real, for obvious reasons. BUT then there's realization how easily human mind is manipulated when it comes down to these kind of concepts. Because of this realization, it's easier to ignore the "reward/punishment" part and look at the SOURCE of the claims (Bible) in an unbiased fashion. And when we do that, we see that the way God is described is more reminiscent of primitive human beings, not a perfect and almighty being
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@ModeLTU BTW the athiestic explaination of the verses in question is kinda close. I can tell he was debated against maybe 2-3 people that kinda had an idea of what it meant. It may have been taught to them but they were too busy shooting spitballs at each other or were half asleep/half awake idk the story. Maybe it was taught to them by someone that had the "the old testament dont matter anymore" mentality and lied to them.
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein I'm not arguing that christianity is false due to hypocrites in church you mentioned or the likes of westboro baptist church same way people shouldn't argue that atheism is false because there are a lot of stupid atheists.
I'm simply trying to point out flaws in the actual source of the beliefs. It's a fact that most people who believe never studied or read the Bible without inherent bias. Most of them were simply told the generic
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein "Believe in Jesus Christ, follow these rules and you will be saved" story and believed it, because there seemed to be no harm in believing, plus there are HUGE benefits in case the story is true.
It just seems like most believers don't care to research whether their beliefs hold up against logic and evidence before accepting the full story as a part of their reality..
Sure, you can PM me, no problem. And it isn't just these few verses. I can keep quoting and quoting
ModeLTU 6 months ago

@DrThrashenstein I wish a lot of Christians would be more Christian. How the hell they can justify Jesus wanting people to die I just cannot understand.
squamish4244 6 months ago
@squamish4244 I hear ya loud and clear. Christian means Christ like and to be like Christ EVERY day is possible but very very difficult, especially if one lets their fire get low and stops communicating. There's been so many occasions where I've shamed Christ myself and had people say, "hmm and your supposed to be a Christian". Nothing makes you feel like a low-life scumbag more than having that said to you. I have a serious anger issue and swear and break stuff like a big baby.
DrThrashenstein 5 months ago
@squamish4244 But I'm not the man I was 12 years ago thats for damn sure. The change didn't just come from reading the bible and going to church. It was instantaneous when I first accepted Christ and became filled with the Holy Spirit. But then through the years I, ME, MYSELF started letting little bits n' pieces of my former life creep back in my new life and became corrupt again and almost died. But Christ didn't leave me as he is true to His word, the fire is hot, the prodigal son is home.
DrThrashenstein 5 months ago
@DrThrashenstein many barbaric practices supposed God accepted and encouraged. And there are a bunch of other problems, too. Basically I think that 1 single flaw or mistake is enough to discredit the WHOLE source (so no, you can't continue believing that there is heaven and eternal life and ignore the rest of the issues with the book and be considered serious), because that source is claimed to have come from a divine and perfect being, who cannot make mistakes or be wrong.
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein I can't claim to understand how God thinks or operates. But even though I'm unwise and primitive compared to what God is supposed to be, I'm still capable of understanding why a being who believers claim is omniscient/omnipotent/understanding/forgiving shouldn't say most of those things written in the Bible.
I'm sceptical because to me accepting concepts as extraordinary as life after death or a being who "watches over us" and has the ability to judge us afterwards
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein requires a bit more evidence than "LOL you better believe or else". I'm sceptical because I realize how easily human mind is manipulated and conditioned. I'm sceptical because I can look at the history and see similar cases of propaganda and fear mongering, which humans used on each other in order go gain power and control.
It SEEMS like the more extraordinary the claim, the more evidence it should require. However, with religion it's exactly the opposite for some reason
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein The logical conclusion? Unless God is actually bloodthirsty/egotistical/not omniscient, the other more likely explanation is that Bible was written without any divine inspiration, by humans who wanted to gain control and manipulate each other for their own benefit.
Which is what we have been doing for pretty much as long as we existed.
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein I was there, believe me. I used to be terrified to question, because in the back of my mind I thought that God can read my thoughts and will punish me for doubting him. There are a lot of psychological issues involved in these matters.
God's ways are SUPPOSED to be superior to ours, I agree completely. But from what I can observe in the Bible, that God is not any more advanced than the people who lived at those times.
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@ModeLTU Naa your just a God hater and I dont know why. Maybe you think God is supposed to be your servant or santa clause. I'm very sorry that you never gave God a chance or had enough faith for Him to show Himself in your life and to others through you. Maybe you were taught wrong from the start, there can be many factors for your ill feelings towards Him. But I do know its YOU and not Him that failed in the relationship. But its only too late when your DEAD. Nobody is promised tomorrow.
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein I'm not a God hater. I don't acknowledge his existence, at least not the way he's described in the Bible. I think God is supposed to be an all-loving and understanding being who cares about us. But when I read the Bible and see that God supports sexism/slavery/condones rape and punishes people for something they didn't choose (i.e. homosexuality) even though he was the one to make us the way we are in the first place, I become highly doubtful that it was God who inspired it.
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein Atheists don't rebel against God or 'worship Satan'. We DON'T BELIEVE THE STORY AT ALL. We don't acknowledge any of that being A PART OF OUR REALITY because apart from dogmatic BS, you really like to preach over and over again, there's nothing to suggest that story 'checks out'.
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@ModeLTU ww.onyxbits.de/content/atheist-dont-make-insanely-stupid-argument OKAY!! Theres PLENTY more of this from athiests all over the web teaching young minds not to believe in God and what NOT to say so they dont look like FOOLS especially in front of people. So it "CHECKS OUT" bro. If you need me to hold your hand anymore just let me know I would love nothing more than to show you more of YOUR athiestic blogs and sites etc.. Next time just take my word for it I have NO reason to lie
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein The question then arises, why would God adjust himself to our stupid and primitive rules? If all he did was accept whatever barbaric practices we used, where does the "divine" morals come from?
God decided that the best way to "punish" the rapist is to make him pay money and take care of her, because otherwise women had very few rights at those times?
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@ModeLTU I'm sure you know that you have to add a W to the beginning of the link I posted for you, the one you said dont exist, ya that one.
DrThrashenstein 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein Women should have been happy if a man happened to rape her, because now she will get more benefits, which otherwise women weren't entitled to? What kind of pathetic logic is that. I get that society was different back then. But why wouldn't God EXPLAIN to these primitive people WHY these kind of concepts were wrong? He didn't struggle to tell us that killing each other or stealing from each other was wrong.
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein Why does he only seem to struggle with more complex concepts like homosexuality/sexism/slavery, the same concepts we slowly, but surely figured out? Sure, YOU claim and believe that God "knew what was morally right all along, he just decided to adjust to our own rules", but where is the proof that it was the case?
Show me some examples where God is showing some kind of knowledge which wasn't supposed to be available to the people at the time.
ModeLTU 6 months ago
@DrThrashenstein Again, you just seem to focus on the good parts and claim God's word is perfect and ignore those parts where God can easily be compared to a bloodthirsty tyrant.
We aren't perfect, that's right, we are animals after all and we are driven by instincts. But this isn't a competition to see who's better. God CANNOT be wrong at any point in time. One little mistake and inconsistency and that's it, your whole source (bible) which claims to be inspired by God is null and void

Water4Jeremiah 8 months ago
@Water4Jeremiah What could he sue for? Defamation of character? All that happened is that Popoff had to declare bankruptcy for his business failing. Pointing out that other people do not fulfil their job's requirements (even if it is magical powers) is legal. In fact, not living up to them is illegal, depending on the gravity.
I am glad he exposed him. Someone would have eventually, but the skeptic foundation is a great thing in the world. Thank "God" for it :D
devex12345 7 months ago
@devex12345 Thanks for answering. I've noticed that the main reason for all faith-based groups is money. I remember hearing the Kent Hovind tapes and how he was hoping to sue people to get money from them, so I was wondering if Peter Popoff would have succumbed to greed. I've noticed in academics people tend to be happy with the job that they are doing, and the money is there to just help them do that job. Those educated people will create better memories than Popoff-types who can't trust anyone

8matthewlee8 7 months ago
@8matthewlee8 Thanks, I guess :P
ModeLTU 7 months ago
@ModeLTU understandable but doesn't change my veiwpoint
8matthewlee8 7 months ago
@8matthewlee8 It should - we can fully explain NDE's using neuroscience. Sagan does so in "Dragons of Eden" quite eloquently. The neurons misfire and the brain hallucinates and the results are almost ALWAYS the same: bright lights, floating, and euphoria. Either they are all supernatural or they are not, but the fact that we can explain them scientifically points to the latter.

DukeTwicep 7 months ago
@DukeTwicep many things but i guess you might be an athiest and if ilist the reasons why there is going to be a massive arguement about why you think i am wrong and i am right. Unless that isn't what's going to happen
8matthewlee8 7 months ago
@8matthewlee8 Well actually it would be interesting just to know what made you believe. If you believe then you shouldn't be afraid of debate as you're probably right, right? Anyway, if it makes you feel better I promise not to start an argument and try to rationalize.
DukeTwicep 7 months ago
@DukeTwicep fine. I used to be an athiest until my dad introduced me to the new testament. I read it and i was like "this doesn't make sense, it's just a lie" so he told me to think of it spiritually. I didn't understand what it was until i went on my dads favourite and found this spiritual website which explained it and made it clear. so i read the bible and i thought of it's spiritual meaning and I felt something and it made sense. but christian means something else to me and it's baptised
8matthewlee8 7 months ago
@ModeLTU I myself am a paranormal investigator and I can tell you first hand there are supernatural beings that are either memories replaying themselves, or someone who still has something to finish. Sure it's not like we are staring at these beings and having full fledged conversations with them, but there is proof of a something beyond the grave, as I have had a direct response from a spirit, it's bone-chilling knowing that someone was talking to me from the after-life.
abandonallyourhope 6 months ago
@abandonallyourhope I'd like to experience that myself. It's kinda hard to just take your word for it, you know. Again, I'm obviously sceptical, but there are many psychological factors regarding cases like those. Human mind is tricked extremely easily

Agreed. Science seeks to explain how the physical world works, not advocate any political or religious belief, although the fruits of scientific research can be misused or abused as much as any ideology.
PortVienna80 5 months ago
Hate to break it to you, old man, but what's rational & irrational depends merely on perspective. Even your marvelous author of the book from 1843 would find things you think irrational & you the same of him & that's just based for norms of 2 different time periods! To think that your version of the truth or rationality is the correct way for everybody is not just irrational, but stupid. That's just the truth!
Bunnykins78 8 months ago
@Bunnykins78 There is one objective truth, isn't there? Whether or not someone is psychic, for example, is not up to one's opinion.
Do you disagree?
Zemed87 8 months ago in playlist James Randi Speaks

homeopathy and alternative medicines have been used for centuries successfully by different races.
GhostBusterTrace 10 months ago
@GhostBusterTrace Alternative medicine that worked became medicine. Homeopathy does not work more than a placebo sugar pill. Which you should know if you read any met analysis of thousands of people who used it.

You don't have to prove that something DOESN'T exist. The onus is on the believers to prove that what they are saying DOES exist.
jimmyboyG485 9 months ago 9
@jimmyboyG485 why not? If you open your mouth and say it doesnt exist then I want you to prove it to me because I dont believe youi
GhostBusterTrace 9 months ago
@GhostBusterTrace
You can believe what you want privately, that doesn't change how logic works. You are saying something works, you are the one who must provide proof for how it works.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. You do not have that proof. Therefore your claim cannot be considered true.
jimmyboyG485 9 months ago

Randi.

darthgeekboy 10 months ago 2
@sniggity At no point has Randi ever said that there is no paranormal, no spiritual life. All he's ever said is that there is no evidence for it and he doesn't believe there is. He just points out the flaws in a lot of the thinking that surrounds magic, the spiritual and the religious. Randi has little time for people who take advantage of peoples' credulity for personal gain. He's never said anyone was wrong who wasn't. How does this make him a hater?

I listen to this man and I cant believe that someone can be so naive. I also find him quite condescending. I have been investigating the paranormal for a few years now, investigating ghosts with a few others. I am just your average person, work as a nurse, married, children, volunteer. No mental health probs. I have, in the presence of others, witnessed paranormal phenomena. There is an afterlife and this fool will experience it himself one day.
GhostBusterTrace 10 months ago
@GhostBusterTrace He is one of the most eminent investigators of the paranormal that has ever lived. Unfortunately, he's never found any proof of ghosts, spirit mediums, psychics, ESP, homeopathy, alternative medicine etc. etc. and has frequently managed to demonstrate very clearly that those making these claims are at best confused and at worst criminal. More to the point, he can effectively replicate many of the effects used by the most public exponents of magical thinking. Why is he a fool?
vermeergirl 10 months ago

Are you 100% sure you know the truth?

armatageshanks06 10 months ago
@signbiz Ah yes, Once again we have Pascal's wager thrown at us. The fallacy comes from the idea that if you live a life believing in the supernatural and it turns out there is no supernatural then you've lost nothing. Yes you have. You've lost a life lived in reality, not delusion. You've lost a life not lived in utter fear of the afterlife. And that's what this all comes down to doesn't it? Fear. The fear of "what if I'm wrong". When all else fails religion always comes down to fear.

A0Candle0In0The0Dark 10 months ago
@ebrobaru Yes it is apart of nature however it is still unexplainable and still completely shatters our newtonian way of understanding the universe. It's similar to paranormal claims because they are bpth contrary to materialistic logic of what is possible and what is impossible. The only difference is the later cannot be reproduced in a labratory. Do you think science is going to prove the existnece of infinite parallel universes and super strings? No they are methaphysical THEORIES.
soldatheero 11 months ago
@325982669 Not necessarily, they can be considered one electron depending on how you interpret the phenomenon. Even one electron in two places, do realize how contradictory that is to normal logic.
soldatheero 11 months ago
@dilandau3000 Sure there not "paranormal" w/e that means. The point is similar to what you call "paranormal" they defy ordinary logic. The fact that two electrons can effect one another instaneously no matter the amount of space between them is not ordinary, it suggests something very strange. The entire world of quantum mechanics makes one question the scientific worlds current materialistic paradigm of reality. So consider other phenom that seem impossible may indeed also be possible &veryreal
soldatheero 11 months ago
@soldatheero you're talking about entanglement, and it's not two electrons, it's one electron in two places.
325982668 11 months ago
