The X-Y trapezoid is a method of testing and calibrating an AM radio transmitter. You connect the audio to Input A, and the sample RF output to Input B. With the scope in X-Y mode, if your edges are straight lines, and the left edge never closes to a point, you're doing great! If your diagonal lines are moving around, the transmitter is not maintaining the integrity of the audio signal.
