  • I have a fair number of favorites from Mr. Kenny Rogers through his career, but this fun ballad is #1 on MY list!

  • Great song. Searched for this after hearing it on Eastbound and Down. This song is proof that Kenny Rogers doesn't just roast a good chicken!

  • Great song. Proof the man doesn't just roast a good chicken =)

  • awesome! my clit was so hard it hurt, so I typed in "this will turn you off", I clicked this, and it worked. Than you, Kenny Rogers!

  • I can see

  • Anybody remember the movie "Sixpack"? This was the theme song to that movie.

  • six pack

  • This is to my Wife and my new in laws in Thailand. They have helped me become a much better person. :)))

  • id ont care if you were up Kenny's ass while he recorded the song the lyrics arfe 'tricks you into LEAVING' dunce

  • GO GORDON

  • Thats one of my all time favorite movies even today. Very cool your uncle was a main character and that you were a part of it! Would have loved to meet this guy he's a great singer and actor! thanks for sharing this great old song

  • i was 4 years old when the movie Six Pack came out. And if you remember the little boy that sang the song " Rocky Top" in the movie, that's my uncle...Benji Wilhoite. I remember meeting Kenny Rogers and the whole cast and crew of the movie!!!! Kenny I will forever be grateful for you!!!!!

  • the lyrics are wrong in this song. It should read: "its your mind that tricks you INTO LEAVING everytime." Not believing. That doesn't even make sense to what the song is about.

  • What a great song. I'm only 31.. Never thought I'd like such a "sappy" song. :D

  • I ride my "high horse" because of queers like you that are here because of a goddamn nascar commercial. Or if this song "spoke to you" during an episode of eastbound and down.

  • Jeff Gordon 24

  • @oldsiamsir24 go jeff!

  • LEAVING

  • The secret GP lab is keying this song to gay imagery.

  • Just for the record I also believe it's ~leaving everytime~, thats why on the next bit of lyrics in the same verse he states ~It's your heart that talks you into ("staying") where you are~. So in other words, your minds tricking you into leaving but your hearts talking you into staying. Yada, Yada Yada, I'm done. ~Peace and God Bless~

  • I'm not a huge country fan, but I do have my favorites and Kenny Rogers is definitly one of them... Excellent song from "82".

  • tricks you into leaving evrytime

  • @tsw0804 ...... the lyrics are " That tricks you in believin' every time"........ NOT " tricks you into leaving every time." i should know.....i was there when the song originally came out back in 1982 and was there when the movie premiered in Atlanta, Ga. I met the man and the cast and crew of the movie b/c of my uncle being in it.

  • Kenny hit #13 in Billboard, 8-28-82. God bless ya, brother Kenny! Thanx, cricelann, for postin' it!

  • Kenny Powers + April + this song = goddamn masterpiece!

  • What did all u mother fkers shazam this off eastbound & down too. haha

  • Why do people ride their high horse when they've heard the song before a particular television show or commercial used it?

Music reaches us many different ways, and I commend the people that simply enjoy this song, for whatever their reason may be. 66 likes and 0 dislikes? Way to go Kenny.

  • This brings back a lot of memories from when I was a kiddo. Thank you! :)

  • Hey, no bunts, no bunting!

  • Jesus christ its a mandolin not an electric piano. And thumbs up to anyone who heard this 20 years before eastbound and down.

  • @bbttbbtt why does it matter how or where you heard it? asshole

  • ESPN has a good commercial with everyone wanting Jeff Gordon's # 24...with the background music being this song. But I'm so old I remember and like this song a lot.

  • @comooch Given how far Nascar has fallen since 2004 and the fact that ESPN cares nothing for it(nor really should they), I don't believe the person who picked it has the faintest clue of the Nascar connection. I think it was just a random accident that this song was used in a Nascar commercial and has an actual connection to it.

  • @yojoeski Are you serious?? Do you really believe A billion dollar company would unknowingly pick a song from a movie about a race car driver for a Nascar spot ? Hell, that ad is the reason I found this on YouTube. Anyone who grew up with HBO in the early eighties knows where that song is from. I hate Nascar , but I think it's brilliant that they used this song in that ad.

  • you knocked his fuckin eye out man!!

  • Easily his best, I agree with you guys. It takes us all back in time and is still strong, the signs of a phenom hit. He was a master of his universe in his day!

  • Eastbound and Down...

  • @charlielufc999 Hi faggot! Can you give me a job? I'll do anything!

  • I was just a kid when Six Pack came out... always loved this song... brings back memories....

  • wish and prey for the old days. the best i hate change.

  • the electric piano sound must have ben popular in the 1980's.I hear it in this song

  • Will Sasso does a funny imatation of him

  • "I believe the quote is "It's your mind that tricks you INTO LEAVING everytime". Love this song. One of my favorites :)"

    Yup, it's 'into leaving'

  • I got my fucking pitch back!!!

  • arguably one of his best

  • I believe the quote is "It's your mind that tricks you INTO LEAVING everytime". Love this song. One of my favorites :)

  • @jennifers2008 No the words are, That tricks you in believin' every time.

  • great song

  • @jennifers2008 I thought it was leaving ever time too, there are a lot of people saying believing every time...so, I went to lyrics on demand...it is believing every time.

  • What a fantastic KR song. Love the lyrics, love the beat, love the melody, just love the MAN who sings it!!!!

    Thanks for posting,

    Marilyn
