well, actually, if you feed chickens, hens for that matter, with dye their eggs surely will have it's color,. maybe this chicken eats plants rich in chlorophyl, as you know we are what we eat sometimes not only by means of nutrition but appearance, likewise the flamingo, they eat mostly shrmps wich explains pink color, if theirdiet isn't mainly shrimp, it'll eventually turn gray.
I remember when one of my chickens started to lay green eggs Ha. :] They were really good ( No not chicks, edible eggs) and i still can't believe they lay that kind of egg Haha:]
My friends have hens that lay green eggs. But they think it is the food they eat. sometimes they will get a blue egg, or pink egg. But usually they get brown or white. It's pretty cool to see them in real life, but I think the hens are dead now.
They're what my aunt calls "Easter Chickens" because the egg shells are naturally colored for some reason. My aunt's had a few of them. One laid green eggs like these, and another a bluish color. :)
She's actually what's called an Easter Egger. What people call "Auracanas" in the U.S. are actually Easter Eggers. Auracanas are a totally different, South American breed. Anyways, all Easter Eggers are crosses, but all carry the blue or green egg laying gene. Most of them have 'sideburns' and 'beards' instead of combs and wattles, but not all. She's obviously just an Easter Egger. :)
its not rare I know a couple who sell green egs and like the vid says some breeds are known to do it.the thing about the vid is that they dont think the hen haveing the eggs is one of the green egg breds and they have never seen it happen in thare town.
Yall should know that a lot of chickens lay green eggs. Just those aren't the ones you buy at the store because green eggers don't lay enough eggs to be a factory farm chicken.
um its not because of steriods :) my chicken lays greenish/ blue eggs and i only give her chicken food and sometimes some other things. its just they lay they are :)
I have an Araucana/Americauna chicken. They can come in a lot of color varieties. The one in this video looked like mine, except without without the black markings on the tips of her feathers (AKA mine is prettier!) Others I've had have been nearly black and others have been varying shades of reddish brown, all with some black or dark brown accents
the green and brown eggs always seemed to have a really yellow yoke. and when you make scrambled eggs they're soo much more appealing and fluffier then store bought ones and a lot bigger..
my chickens whole leg and half her body got bluish purple color i dunno what happened but she died like 4 days ago can u guys tell me what kind of disease this was thanks
well I dont know much about chickens but I know that they can just all of a sudden get very ill, If you`re curious ask you`re local vet about it or something
If you notice she's got a pea comb whereas the other chickens in the video don't. I think they tend to be linked, that and green or blue eggs, not that one will always bring the other.
Yeah, I like chickens with colored eggs but it's not that unusual. "Easter eggers" are often sold as araucanas or ameraucanas, although they're more like mixed breeds with colored eggs.
sometimes they just get hurt and can't eat or they are injured too badly inside and die, I have seen hens live on a bad leg for months and finally heal... chickens just die...
this is very common in south america most in the south of Chile, it can be because of the breed or the feeding of the chickens, there's a race of chikens that lays pale blue eggs, green and even mixed
this is actually very common, my chickens lay pale blue, dark green, light green, and even sometimes a pinkish color eggs. It's simply because of there breed, and the chickens don't come out green or blue, they come out just regular..like the mom and dad
I think it's something to do with the diet, because the free range eggs I get are sometimes green. And as for white and brown eggs... I think it's meant to depend on what colour hen lays the egg.
Chickens that were domesticated from Asian jungle fowl (most species) lay brown through yellow through white. Those species that come from south American fowl Araucana for instance lay blue/green eggs. The chickens in South America were actually brought over by Polynesians in ancient times (>8000 BC)
come on i live in canada in my younger days my parents raised chickens and i see all coloers of eggs green blue yellow thats not differnt just would happen time to time
i have Araucana chickens that lay green eggs and they bred with my bantam chicken and now they lay little green eggs.
