Love it! My first Chrysler that got me hooked for life is a 61 New Yorker 2drht Tahitian Turquoise. Just need to find the time to get it going again. Thank you for sharing!
aw, my grampa had a 61 windsor. I so wouldve driven it but it was in way too rough of condition. it sat for about 18 years on the side of the highway for sale. I took his old 79 lincoln instead and a rat ate out the engine wires after I took it home

I left you a comment before with our old Yutube user name 'Jukeboxjiver'. We own the identical 61 Chrysler New Yorker 4 door hard top car in Essex, England. We believe it's the only one in UK. I have just made a video here for you to watch. of our lovely car. We don't have as many 'extras' as yours though.
Beautiful car! I have a '62 that I use as my daily driver, and it runs like a champ. I'm a little surprised (but thankful, too) that these cars aren't bigger among collectors. Does anyone know how great these are?? Thanks for posting this video!
Great car! My folks had a 4 door '61 New Yorker when I was, umm, a bit younger. I still am looking for one! We had the same radio in ours that the featured car had. Pretty high tech for 61! Ours also had the "All Vinyl Interior (seats)" add OOooo noises here...
I think the one I had may have been a rebuilt wreck....it had "so many" things constantly wrong with it,,,,constant charging problems...no matter how many voltage regulators I replaced and even tried a borg/warner heavy duty adjustable regulator, astra dome dash gauges going up in smoke...literally, pitman shaft steering seals went 3 times, park brake never held, right,....I could go on forever telling the problems it had
We have the identical restored car in Essex England. Thanks for the brilliant video. Our car is on Myspace, but this won't let us show the link in full. User name is Geoff and the last numbers are 146156991
my grandfather still had this newyorker when i was a kid.I thought this was the biggest car in the world. The push button transmission i think was way ahead of its time, but i think they had problems with the transmission sticking.
I applaud this guy for breaking with the collector hysteria for convertibles and performance cars and collecting everyday cars from the past. Not many collectors do that, so it ends up looking like all people drove in the past were convertibles and muscle cars.
You have the car of my dreams! I used to have one of those in 1974. Red with a white top. It had all the options except factory air, and it also had Imperial taillights put on the top of the fins in addition to the regular taillights. Unfortunately I didn't realize what a gem I had, being a mere 21, and when I couldn't afford to fix the brakes (which caused all kinds of problems for me on the hill I lived on) I sold it for a song and bought a different car.
I had one of those.....good luck parking it rear down on a hill,,,,,NO PARK function in the transmission...press down the emergency brake and PRAY.....also it helps to have a nice small log to shove behind the tire.
I've owned 7 of these push button Chrysler products over 34 years, all with the park brake, never had one slip on a hill. The park brake locks the drive shaft behind the transmission, completely independent of the wheel service brakes.
Hi: are you absolutely sure it "locks" the drive shaft? The 1962 (I owned) had a small brake drum on the drive shaft and when you depressed the park brake all it did was expand a set of shoes against the drum, nothing actually locked. Sounds sort of like what you are talking about. It is not actually a locking device....I mean I could easily drive off with my parking brake on and not realize it...except for a slight drag feeling. My friend with a 61 Windsor had the same problem.
dus it have power windose too???

Has this car been in much print? There's one similar to this in a few car books I have, and it's a contemporary photo.

You're right about that, its not actually a locking device, just a brake drum on the drive shaft, but as I said, I've never had one let go on me.
