You are an absolute artist with a sewing machine!!! I have never seen this process before and would love to see more from you. Do you have a web site or instructional site?
Glad you enjoyed this so much! Yes, we have a web site and blog.
You Tube does not allow posting of a web address here so if you remove the spaces in our business name below below and add a "dot com" at the end, you'll get there!
This would be great on the back of a jacket. I love quilted wearable art. You get a much larger audience for your art work. You become a walking art gallery.
I watched #1 and #2 of your tutorial on trupunto; It was great and now I will try something in trupunto. I have never done that technique before but I believe after watching your videos I can do. Thanks again for sharing your technique. I have seen about all your video as I'm a newbee quilter and having tons of fun. Have a great Holiday Season.
PAT-SY!!! Even though I have watched this vid in the past...all of a sudden not only does it all make sense...but it seems do-able to me now! I'm very excited to try this. Not sure if I can just throw some trapunto into the quilt I'm working on now but if not, I'm thinking I will specifically get some fabric and a new (smaller than your pansy!) die and try it! I'll pick up some pretty threads and play around with some painting. I'm so excited!!!! This vid is amazing! tfs...
Thank you for this video (and part 1 of Trapunto). I didn't understand this technique before, but you've made it very clear. Can't wait to give it a shot!
I love this technique and the way you made it understandable for a newbie in quilting. What kind of presser foot were you using? I am guessing you had foot feed down with exception of satin stitch? Looking forward to more of your videos! Okie From Muskogee
I found this video amazing, informative, well thought out and easy to follow. It does, leave on with a hunger for more, lol. Great presentation!! I can't wait to try this. As a novice, this kind of layered process gives me lots to try and explore, with plenty of key techniques. Thank you very much for your time and energy. It has, indeed, inspired me to explore. Gratefully, Carol
Thanks for taking time to make this great video! I have been sewing for many years but learned so much watching you sew and listening to your comments. What a beautiful quilt!
I have a degree in art and would like to try 'drawing' with my machine. I have tried this a little but your video has encouraged me to try to do more and to make a quilt with trapunto pieces in it.
Keep up the good work and please send more videos our way!! SOON!!
Thank you so much for demonstrating this technique. Trapunto has always seemed to be out of my reach, but this looks doable. Your instruction style and video work is very easy to follow.
The ABCs of Quilting: A-Always, B-Be, C-Closing. Always be closing, always be closing. You know what it takes to quilt? It takes brass balls to quilt. The fucking thread is weak? You're weak. I've been in this business 15 years.
@annegwishisfunny your comment is hateful. As a pro (medicine) for 25+yrs, I doubt you are a pro at all. I am grateful for wonderful people like this lady, who've dedicated so much time to the selfless process of teaching, you're a stick in the mud for saying such demeaning things. Watch something else or better yet, let's see you in action. Where is your posting of work? Change professions-quilting leaves you angry, lacking confidence and manners! If you have nothing positive to add, go away!
YOU ROCK....I have been patiently awaiting those additional trapunto videos you promised...when can we expect more...i would love to see this process from beginning to end.
HI! I'm an avid painter and am thinking of getting a sewing machine to make my own clothing. I had never imagined you could 'paint' with a sewing machine! Absolutely wonderful video and thank you for introducing me to this. I can't wait to try this technique!
It is a Ricky Tims fabric that was available 3-4 years ago: I can't remember the name of the exact line. You might try his web site as he may know where to get it now. Good luck!
Beautiful work. You make it look so easy. I started a trapunto project awhile ago and now I'm excited to get back to it. I now see how I can make it even more interesting with thread painting!
Very cool & informative! Thanks for sharing these two videos. I'll try using the technique in a wall hanging that has lots of animals in it. Looking forward to seeing more video shorts!
Im a 15 year old boy from England and i never knew the skill required to do something like this... you have opened my eyes and what you have made is awesome
I am an experienced quilter but have never done trapunto because I didn't know how and didn't have time to take a class. These 2 videos were very helpful - and you make it look so easy. Now I can add this to my quilts! Thanks so much for taking time to post these lessons. Teresa (in Houston, Tx)
ty i was wondering what kinda quilt i was making my surgeon until i saw your trapunto. new dimensions clinic...deserves trapunto, dont you think. perfect process for the name on the quilt. ty
I am just getting back into sewing after like 30-35 years being away and want to quilt also. This was the best video! PLEASE do make many more videos for people like me. Thanks! I am now hoping you have some "basic" quilting videos also. My hat is off to you!
Using my sewing machine stresses me out, I much prefer stitching by hand. This looks great though, I want to learn. I just need to work on not getting frustrated when it doesn't go right!!
Fun? Inspirational? YOU BET! ... i am going to go try this out ... THANK YOU for your kindness in sharing this technique with others who are not as proficient as you are ...:)
I just bought my first sewing machine. This is quite an inspiration and quite frankly I did not even know it was possible do such detailed artistic work . I'm setting my sites high now : )
My girlfriend just sent me this video and we're *howling* together! I can hardly wait to get started. I'm curious; I've never seen anyone sew with gloves on before. Is this something you always do?
This video was superb. You are an amazing artist! You have inspired me to start practising my freehand embroidery / decorative stitching. Thank you so much.
I thought your machine trapunto video was just excellent. You have inspired me and I will probably watch it several times as I move along the path. Thanks for doing it. Doreen.
Patsy, I must say this video was really quite good and instructional. I have never tried trapunto, but after watching your easy to follow step by step, and seeing the fab results, I will definitely give it a try. Your free motion quilting is great too! Hope to se more in the future!
Patsy you are fabulous. I am going to your site right now to learn how to get your DVDs or books. I would rather watch you though because I actually think I could do it. Please do a DVD on Trapunto. It is a blast. DJ
Thanks for the compliment! I am working on a trapunto class that will use this pansy as the basis for the class, but I have to revise my drawing so that it will be easy to fuse it up really fast. So, yes, I think a pattern will be forthcoming, but it wll be a few months at least!
Oh my GOD ! How INSPIRING !!! I've never heard of the term 'thread painting' until now. I'm a big fan of Annemieke Mein and your demonstration explains all! Thankyou and I lookforward to seeing you again on YouTube.
I truly enjoyed your videos. Question. When you have finished with the thread painting and you are ready to quilt, do you quilt the actual "thread painted Trapunto" parts, and just around it, or do you use a neutral color over the piece. I would be very interested in seeing the finished item. It's quite lovely and you are a natural. Thanks!
I quilted around the purple threadpainted parts but not the yellow threadpainting, using monofilament thread. Still photos of finished piece are on my blog in a post dated 7/10/07.
I drew a normal sized pansy on transparency paper and then enlarged it with an overhead projector. The large drawing was then my template for cutting out fusible web.
