Actually, this is inaccurate. Just happened to hear them in a Memphis radio interview in 2001. The original story was that the driver of the car died, and they went through his stuff to see who he was and found the AC/DC records. Hilarious interview.
This is slightly in-accurate. I mean, I don't see no reason why they couldn't have started out like this, but Barley Scotch(or John Wheeler is his real name) is the only original member of hayseed dixie.
I met Don Reno a couple years ago at a 4th of July party at Dave Fergusen's (sound man for Johnny Cash)house.Pat McLaughlin was also there. They were jamming some bluegrass and I got to set in a couple songs on harmonica. It was a blast. Very informal and a lot of fun.
I've loved Hayseed Dixie since Day One. If you like Hayseed Dixie, check out Barney Barnwell & The Plum Holler Band (I forget their web address, just google them). They sponsor the Moonshiners Convention every year in SC.
Saw them last night in Cornwall - fabulous show! Incredible musicians!

You must see "Issi/Disi Alto Voltaje" a spanish humour film.
Issi/Disi is the phonetical translate in spanish of AC/DC and Alto Voltaje is High Voltage.
That's similar spirit of Hayseed Dixie but in a spanish film and typical heavy people in Spain.
These guys are great and funny but unfortunalety unknown in Spain.
Yeeeehaaahhh from Spain.
