thats pretty awesome...those modified races are awesome. i grew up watching the tour in new england. ruggeiro, stefanik, kennedy, leaty, etc. stafford and thompson were great tracks. i live here in mooresville, nc working in nascar. if you run anything in this area and need a crew put together let me know!

the reason why the nerf bars are out so far,is due to the tires.you see how far out the tires are and have no protection well those nerf bars keep any other car from wheel hoping another car,and if this happends it can be really devistating on both drivers,i happend to know this because i used to race asphalt modifeds

they're nerf bars. the bumpers are just the tubing on the nose and the I-beam on the rear. Nerfs run near the doors and behind the rear tires. they do a lot of jobs, like protect the tires, doors, they allow for a spot to run the exhaust and oil cooler, but most importantly protect the driver. i know for sure, i've put many a season working on a SK modified crew.

thats just part of the frame. nextel series cars have more protection and safety additives already in the frame & car itself. in the whelens, that frame is prtoection from a side impact, be it a wall or another car. also, some of the components on our cars are outside of the engine bay & frame (oil cooler, exhaust). these also help protect those.
