serj probably drinks but i know for a fact he doesn't do weed. first off, NO ONE is as hyper as serj is at a concert when they're high off weed. And he's made comments before about being against weed. He may have smoked when they first began but he's been very anti drug use and so has the bassist.

Garren's the one who does smoke but i don't think he smokes a lot, maybe a little bit before a concert or every once in awhile. As for the drummer: i don't play drums so i never cared lol.

Sonic Youth has done repetitive music since the 1990 or 1991, whenever Goo came out(that was the last album where they were repetitive. And My Bloody Valentine is shoegaze, it's not supposed to be super energetic fast music. Now in terms of a popular band, yes, he may be one of the top 50 guitarists of all time for a mainstream band.
