I just think that The F Word and his more personal programmes like Boiling Point allow him to cast aside the reputation and the expectations and show him as a person, not a television character like in Hell's Kitchen. Kitchen Nightmares also has that kind of 'uh-oh, he's angry again!' vibe, but it's not for dramatic effect; more a part of his perfectionist attitude towards cooking. Gordon in interviews is very much like watching The F Word - he gets to be himself and not an angry ogre.
