The camera can be very misleading, but you got that about right 22-25Lb I would say. I know because I have caught fish on that camera and weighed them.
@TheUnderwatersecrets Really some of the fish look much bigger aha. That common looks to have some potential its long. That big mirror I could have sworn looks like a 30+. Probably my eyes aha
If they are picking up, but then ejecting try a shorter hair, or add a little tungsten putty to the hooklink near the eye of the hook to make the hook drop down in to the lip quicker
If there are ducks, swans, coots or what ever feeding in an area then surely there cannot be any danger such as humans etc, the carp may think.... Fear only comes for a reason, carp have no reason to fear waterfowl, they have lived along side them all of their lives with no hassle and also waterfowl often lead carp to a food source. I try to keep as quiet as possible and do not scare them away in my swim unless i feel i may hook one or they are cheeky stealing to much bait.
Its a pain due to cost or the hook bait there and i dont want to hook them but ive lost count of the times ive seen carp brushing against ducks feeding on the surface and the amount of times i see ducks and other birds stare down because they have seen a carp underwater... I reckon in a way the more ducks and other birds etc there are = safety. Animals watch each other for safety, if one goes ape shit the rest do even if its a different species so i assume its the same with fish and animals.
I believe (but cant prove with video) that waterfowl have a unique perspective. They live between our world and the fishes world. and if we watch thier behaviour, it will lead us to the fish. Who could ask for more.
@TheUnderwatersecrets in summer when carp are on the top, nothin beats a bit of selective fishing with floating bread, seeing the carp and being able to pick the biggest beats all :)
@TheUnderwatersecrets Of course waterfowl have a unique perspective, greebs for example; I cast my pike bait to them where ever I see them, it's an unwritten rule but if you see greebs diving then there is pray fish in the area and consequently Pike will be lurking nearby.
I've often wondered what sort of relationship ducks and fish have? Many times I've hooked up to carp with a flock of waterbirds dive-bombing the baited area at the same time!
if anything the Carp came into the baited area when they noticed the duck diving down to feed, the duck showed them where the bait was, I'll try regular baiting now when a duck is over my boilies instead of going for deeper water.
@TheUnderwatersecrets for bread i suggest using a thing called arma mesh its like pva mesh but it doesn't desolve you can make boilie shaped pieces of bread that wont fall off the hair. find it in the tackle shop its made by fox.
@TheUnderwatersecrets i just use carolina rig for crap and all i have ever used is corn with tuna juice then i cast in the middle of the corn with the bread. I just use bread some times without the corn works good for working water. also, carolina rig with little float the one you see on worm harness instead of weight and just cast and slowly drag it back. for fast action faster moving water near sandbars cast up river let current drag it along bottom works well in the one spot i fish. Canada.
This is a terrific video! Never crossed my mind to check something like that. And yes, the carp just couldn't care less when those birds dive. Amazing footage!
They don't seem to like the red baits! No wonder they let the ducks take it away :P
