I used to wonder who was the greatest of all the prog rock bands. Well since the rise of the internet with unbridled access to live concert footage, one thing has become amply crystal clear: Yes is by far the greatest prog rock band this planet will ever see!
When Steve, Chris, and Jon are harmonizing and you here the texture depth and seasoned sound of true YES harmony then you all have to agree with this....Jon is YES is Jon . . , any other way is a tribute band so I say sorry to all the others still practicing without Jon…… Chris Alan Steve Benoit Geoff these men are now the YES tribute band and that’s all I have to say about that.
and another thing..."the original band"? only Jon and Chris are "the original band" - so what? Yes grows, evolves and, yes, changes. What a great ride it's been.
Like a fine wine, they better with age. My favorite band of all time, and the Howe/Wakeman battle is just awesome. I'm glad they played this song live, cause it's one of my favorite Yes songs.
Steve and Rick have always pushed each other musically I think, especially during live shows. There's a sort of "friendly rivalry" which kinda drives them to do the best they can while having fun, which is incredible and we can clearly see that in this video. No wonder Steve didn't take Rick's leaving after Tales of Topographic Oceans too well, they played amazingly together!
I agree with you Spyes.....it is so evident on the video of the Yes reunion on google video...a concert from Australia...they are laughing and daring each other...heh...good stuff!
After hearing the edition of this at Montreux in 2003, I had worried that Steve Howe had lost his passion for music.
But between the live performances of this song at Lugano and at Tsongas (which was my favorite but was removed from Youtube for some reason) it would appear I could not have been more wrong.
Thank God for that. Or thank Rick Wakeman. One of the two.
Very talented

Were they ever older on that day, a million more gray, but never going to live for e-ternity, yeah.
A snowstorm, a river to be crossed. Old men who once could play but now it's lost.
Were they ever older on that day, a million miles away, seems like eternity ... yeah...

You get older, you lose the suppleness in your fingers, and there's also the added threat of arthritus.
