  • The fact that they were still buliding it. Is what shocked me. If it survived that it should be able to stand even through the big ones.

  • And it collapsed neatly into its own footprint at free-fall acceleration.... oh dear... dammit... try again.

  • hahahaha that earthquake couldnt cause any damage to that building hahaha

  • i thought Richard does cars and funny stuff eg total wipeout - not news!

  • HAMSTER!!!!

  • although, Kudos to the engineers

  • godzilla!

  • The skyscraper, named "Taipei 101", was under construction when an earthquake occurred on 31 March 2002. The quake caused 2 cranes to topple from the 56th floor. 5 people died.

  • well thats not good

  • made in china

  • @kreedzmedia What the f***? That building is pretty well structured against earthquakes!

Look at your own house, can that hold to such a Earthquake?

    made in your ass

  • N. F. S... D.

  • Funny how that building didn't fall into a neat, tiny pile of rubble like WTC 1, 2 and 7.

  • @sanluisskywatch Yeah, funny how it didn't burn, get crashed into by jet airliners or has not been on fire for about 7 hours nonstop.

  • @sanluisskywatch - Yes, you are right, 9/11 was a conspiracy and you know all about it. Good, thank you.

  • @sanluisskywatch , they did not fall into a neat pile. they fell into and on top of other buildings.

  • @sanluisskywatch Stop posting conspiracys....

  • even the world's tallest needs a little chick norris

  • @tamerseeker what? chicken norris? he'll chicken chop u to pieces :)

  • Prices went down for the Pent House any takers?

  • '

why need to building too high skyscaper for,,,

    no need it,,,

think twice is EARTHQUAKE coming anyday anytime anywhere

  • @bestamerica well, why build any buildings if we put it that way? ... size don't matter, just the structure and stability of the building... the fact that this building still stands besides it's size proves the point

And just for the record, my city was struck by a devastating earthquake about 50 years ago, and it was torn to pieces, but many of the tallest modern buildings of that time survived and still stand today (even after several small earthquakes)

  • how tall was the building when it happened? Thanx

  • so this was before it waz bulit... cool

  • Tokyo Skytree under construction in the 3.11 earthquake.↓

  • poor little girl!

  • I was in Taipei when that happened. I was teaching english back in 2002 and I remember hearing about it the next day in school. It was a strong earthquake - I think it was about 6.5 (don't quote me). Luckily I was in a park during, prob best place to be at the time....

  • freaky. i live near 101

  • RICHARD HAMMOND

  • @AutoManiacNYY26 I knew it!! #LOL

  • @AutoManiacNYY26 We wish.

  • GO Hamster!! lol never knew that this happened in the 101 building sequence, omg!

  • its richard hammond from top gear!!!!

  • ahh, hamsters signature voice, who gives a fuck about what we were watching.

  • Wow I never knew this happened during construction. A crane in San Francisco fell off of a skyscraper just 2 or 3 weeks after the 89 quake. It's sad because it landed on the cars below in traffic. People died. My brother was working downtown and told me how loud it was. They blamed marijuana because he had a high dose of it in his system (the crane operator) who didn't bolt down the crane and it fell over. It's the first time I heard marijuana was the cause of death. But im sure it happens

  • i bet this building is going 2 be the first skyscraper to fall on its own

  • @101andrewj have you everheard ov the wind damper inside it? i have been there, seen it move, the building is fine during the earthquakes, the wind damper keeps it still. that was during constructian, it is pretty sturdy now.

  • ..the 101 was shaking in quake....

  • Crap-o-la. I didn't know this happened.

  • Ive been in a 6.8 before...its crazy...it was the Nisqually Valley Earthquake...in the Olympia/Tacoma/Seattle Washington Area...

  • Is Richard Hammond from Top Gear narrating this?

  • Hampster!!!

  • how many richter?

  • 6.8 was terrible!

  • I remember it. March 31st 2002, about 2PM on a Sunday.

  • they didnt plan for earthquake during construction...

  • oh,my freaking god!

  • woah i didn't even know that ever happened when making Taipei 101!

    :O

  • omg
