  • It does not look very stable

  • @zune1421 It is not very stable - no helicopter is, and light ones are harder, but many can keep this sucker almost motionless - obviously not I.... ;) Takes lots and lots of practice. I hear it is still quite good considering it's size though.

  • I just recently got my 4#3b. And I'm so glad I didn't listen to those haters saying "Don't buy a 4#3!! it is grossly unstable blah blah". Because, although I can see how a noob coming from their havoc heli could say that. (4#3 can be quite a hand full). I'm sure the feeling of accomplishment I had after conquering this little animal would not have been as rewarding with a self-stabilizing micro heli, like an msr or cb100.

  • @bliglum Did u get the brush-less? The only annoyance so far, motors keep buring up, esp. the main one. But over all a got heli, and quite stable considering the size! Durable too ;)

  • @gtokarsk Yeah, double brushless. Although it is a bit heavier, I went with it because I heard about how much the brushed motors burn out. I've had over 100 flights so far and no probs. And I am quite pleased with how durable these things are!! My first attempt at a nose-in ended with it charging headlong into the side of my truck. I was sure it was damaged!.. Nope, It took right off again and flew perfectly, like nothing ever happened!

  • You sucks? So what should I say? I can't even start it, but I'm learning.

  • Hehe. U seem to be doing quite well with your lama and coaxial ones! Keep trying you'll get better ;)

So did you get a conventional single rotor helicopter? If so post how the "not flying" is going - maybe you'll get some suggestions on what to try.

    Pozdrowienia z Kolorado ;)

  • Hey great video! Has the motors died yet?

  • Thx. Yes.. I am like on fourth main motor by now! Crazy! I did not expect them to go that fast. I can see the advantage of getting the brushless one! Tail motor is fine so far.

  • So if i get a brushless one the motor wont die out right?

Last question lol: do you recommened this heli?

  • I believe with brushless, that side of the issues would go away (that is my "educated guess". I would certainly recommend that heli, although I did learn on E-Sky honeybee, but if you got limmited space for practicing this little one is great. Quiote forgiving too. Check out rcgroups(dot)com for some great info on beginning heli flying. Get a simulator too.

  • omg I didn't know the motor went on these things! God that sucks, doesn't it only happen if you abuse them or something? Should I order another motor? Does the tail motor need replacing too?

  • The brushes on electric motors simply do go out every so often. Just have to keep in mind that if you start losing power the motor probably needs replaceing. If you start having issues with yaw control it's probably the tail. Due to load difference you gonna go through main way more often than tail motor. Still the main lasts for months if you fly only a litle each week; but it does go faster if you fly more and more often. Always let it cool down between flights.

  • Check out rcgroups-dot-com for some good ideas. Many people opt to convert to a brushless motor system - but that is a bit advanced and time consuming - if you like tinkering I would recommend going there at least on main motor.

  • 2 comments above - for some reason I was thinking HBFP, sorry; on the 4#3 the main motor goes out very often - I actually bough the brusshless version of the heli and kept the old for spare parts because of this. Too much trouble with the motor dying.

  • Will you please explain what you turned down?

  • Greg, there's a little EXT pod on the receiver inside the heli; it shows - to the left and + to the right I think. I think it's called EXT or something like it. What it does is regulate how much travel the servos can have, therefore also regulating the relation of the controller stick to the actual servo movement in the heli.

Turning it about 1/8th of a turn counter-clock-wise makes the heli a bit easier to not overcontrol. [thx fishypaw]

  • WOW! That was fast. Thanks, I'll look for it.

  • No problem, PM me if you need help ;)Have fun!

  • kool

  • To reduce the 'sensitivity and jumpiness' try what I did and turn down the EXT by an 1/8th of a turn. You can always turn it back when you get better. :O)

Compared to mine you have a big room to practice. Scale wise it must be like flying the HBFP in a field, hehe. ;O)

What do you think of it so far, is it or is it not a great little heli?

  • Is that on the receiver or on the servos? The only issue I got so far is tail lag, not sure why, I suspect maybe when battery is low. Overall it seems almost more stable than FP, considering the size. Not bad little heli. Hope to use it to practice during winter ;)

  • Well, used the POD (not POT :) and itactually works nice! Thx FishyPaw - I was afraid it will be like putting the flybar weights on HBFP, where it really dumbs down the controls and delays the response, but no, this actually just decreases sensitivity but the heli is still as responsive as before, very very nice! I am quite impressed with this heli, and my regard for Walkera is growin too. Esky seems a bit less solid now - based on the helis I have.

  • how often do the motors die i am ordering one how many motors shud i order
