  • Seems like a pack animal would be more economical.

  • I'm guessing this isn't the stealth model.

  • It's too bad that about 90% of the stuff used to build it probably came from China.

  • lol at the last question (at 4:32)

  • 獅子舞♡

  • No but, no but, You have to see first

  • Good job criticizing technology that is still being tested as though it were completed. Obviously, it won't be that loud. Obviously ,it will be slimmed down and be able to carry more. Obviously, it will be better at everything it does once it's complete.

  • That thing will totally not alert the enemy troops of your location.

    Good work boys.

  • hopefuly in four years the war is over

  • So from now every troop will sound like a logger crew... so LAME big dog is for fun if it has this loud noise.

  • cause fuck you, thats why they don't use pack mules

  • Hi now we just need a alrernative power source.

  • Why they simply don't use a pack mule?

  • @FreedomFighterReturn

1stly, the majority of the refugees are fleeing not because of US involvement, but rather by local militia groups

2ndly, Most major sources, put the civilian AND militant deaths in the ENTIRE conflict so far to be less than 200,000. Your 2 million figure is outrageous.

lastly, your insults of Nazism, fascism, and Bolshevism are unfounded. Provide evidence.

  • @FreedomFighterReturn

    Less than 100,000 civilians

    Don't get numbers mixed up.

  • Just getting ready for the day when unleashing the dogs of war will mean only robots fighting it out.

  • oh no! a walking coffee machine!

  • You can see that with a similar robot you can't win the war, And for this im very happy !! they make happy the stupids generals with a walking toy, and by making this jewel the study of the artificial walk become a success !! Sure in the future This robot will be used for civilian use. For war ? I think was only an excuse to take money from those idiot generals, and common people (that want war!) .....Congratulation Scientists engineer etc...You made a Good work (Humans are proud of you)!!

  • thumbs up if you think this is how mankinds gonna end

  • I'm sure they're very cheap too!

  • Good people have nothing against the weapons mentioned in above video as long as their used against white Westerners whose armies are illigally occupying other Muslim countries. May all western troops DIE in the Muslim countries they have illigally invaded.

  • @Invesigator Glad you made the distinction of only "white" Westerners.

You don't want to be sold short as just a woman enslaving fascist when you are a racist as well.

  • Why not just get pack animals to carry supplies? It'd be cheaper and more reliable than these jokes. Does even the most banal military task have to be turned into a techno geek's wank off fantasy?

  • @Jered330 The military-industrial complex can't profit from a mule, unless it is some kind of genetically engineered super-mule. So we have to invest billions into developing a capability we already have just to keep the money flowing in the "right" direction. Of course we will still lose to Afghans with donkeys who are laughing at how detached from reality we are.

  • Safer? As loud as that thing is? I'd rather carry my own stuff then having to pay extra attention and worry towards being spotted due to all the noise

  • @Adjuni They are developing a faster electric model

  • @Adjuni

The engine is a temporary solution. When running on battery, it is very quiet.

  • @cr9527: It better be

  • Fucking Americans, your government are a cancer. Seriously you spend more money on developing ways of killing people than you do on Education or Healthcare. All to bring democracy to Afghanistan and Iraq, how noble of them.

  • robots are even stealing donkeys jobs

  • Big Dog is in development. Later they will use a quieter power source like hi powered batteries. Too costly to develop that at this stage! So now they use an inexpensive power supply - gas powered engine.

  • EVERYTHING FOR WARFARE, i would never have guessed

  • OKAY! THIS TOTALLY LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF METAL GEAR SOLID 4!!!! This is just craziness!

  • War = mass death + mass destruction

Why would anyone (except sociopaths) want that?

  • Face it, there will always be war for as long as humans walk on this planet. War will rage on. There will be no time when all powers agree to the same thing. Everybody wants peace, but they want peace that suits them.

  • Boy.....the enemy will never hear it coming with that weed wacker motor......

  • @healthhavencom, what an original idea! Why not just avoid war? This is the answer to your question: "There will always be those in society who are more aggressive than we are, who find ways to get what they want, by hook or by crook. We must be vigilant and must know how to defend ourselves against such types. Civilized values are not furthered if we are forced to surrender to those who are crafty and strong. In fact, being pacifists in the face of such wolves is the source of endless tragedy.

  • pretty cool..but the only thing i cannot stand bout big dog is the loud fukn sound it makes

  • @leonikz This droid just has a bad motivator.

Nah, I kid. I believe, if it's worth anything, that it's hydraulic, and that's a small gas engine running the pump.

  • Equip it with sensors and let it walk in front of a convoy better yet make it RUN in front of a convoy to look for IEDs and shit. If it spots one it drops a charge on it (like taking a crap) and backs off. Boom the coast is clear.

Therefore u need better sensor... so go work on that shit first u asspies

  • METAL GEAR: BIG DOG

  • The easiest way to defeat that bad boy.... just throw a frisbee or tennis ball and that thing would be off and running....... who's the big sweety!

  • This would also be useful for other things besides war.

    FUCK WAR

  • @VirtualDynamite The funding is through taxes (DARPA). The major problem is the money the people want to get their live stock. If this is gonna solved, such things could be developed without involving professional murderers.

  • From a distance it looks more like a wingless fly than a dog!

  • It reminds me of the killing machine in Robo Cop.

  • If you make this thing any bigger make sure it won't be vulnerable to my snowspeeder cable!

  • Why not just use a donkey?

  • @hazmunro The army can not cope with the free will of living creatures :) You cant delude a donkey. Its a logical thinking being which will run away when a shooting takes place. Only people are stupid/deluded enough to stay where bullets are flying :)

  • @hazmunro they are loud, dirty, require food and water, they get tired. i understand ur point but once perfected this will be an improvement over using animals.

  • It is too noisy and requires Gas. If it was quite and could use grass for fuel that would be better.

Then again we already have those, they are call horses. And they are much cheaper.

anybody else feel like we are trying to spend money!

  • @rw86347 a horse needs to sleep and rest, i dont think those things run on gas probly electric

  • Do you think "Big dog" will be used against united states citizens in the event that Martial Law is declared in America?

  • @nutterSR20DET

    are you serious?

  • :\

     sure hope so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • These would be great for clearing minefields!

  • I still think it would be faster, quieter and more efficient with wheels. Additional legs would be used only to climb those difficult terrains.

  • @keoism

    yeah! have legs AND wheels!

  • пизда жирная

  • I am a robotic scientist but in my opinion nothing beats a horse or a mule.

    And no noise.

  • Exactly...LOL!

  • you should be a farmer then

  • You know... REAL horses and mules have been used in combat for centuries. And better use for robotics are fr the farm.

  • Horse and mule escape out of operation ground if listen some shots or explosions and in other situations can avoid orders, bigDog not.

Noises are just in the experimental version of BigDog. In near future it will go with batteries + electric engine indeed fueled engine.

And sure, less poor real animals in the war teather. ;)

  • I am robotic research scientist. I understand the reality of applied robotics. I want to see it happen. However, In my opinion what solves the application that's best suited should be used. That being said... in 2 or 5 year the technology should be ready to replace natural means.

  • Yeah, maybe 2 or 5 years is too near but sure the big thing is started. Maybe 10 /15 years are much realistic about human replace in war but sure we are near. I think we live again in the experimental and testing season about robotics/IA.. just needed much money a bit more time

  • One thing for sure...Big Dog is the BADEST MTF walking robot ever!

  • Yes i agree at 100%. I am true curious about PETMAN from BostonDynamics too. 2 legs and since now can walk truly like an human (better than Honda asimo).

  • "Horse and mule escape out of operation ground if listen some shots or explosions"

    Solution:

A Deaf horse and mule .

    Kidding ;-)

    Then again... Could work.

  • Just call it the beer dog, build in a chiller and it'll sell a million.

  • They should put a robotic minigun on that.

  • see you guy's put this down while if you Notice what they've done, they can creat an armor for it or a silencer for the engine. you only see the flaw's when soon these flaws will be strength, think what it will be like in 2025? pay attention to what we "are creating" not what we've created.

  • a little bit of thermite would take care of that robot

  • i bet , that in a few years from now , you wont even be able to approach it , whiteout it taking care of you :) Just think about that, put one automatic gun with motion sensor , hehe you are busted :) Just joking , but rely i see a lot of posibilitis for this technology.I hope it will not be used for military but for some humain purpose insted.

  • @zekonja24 oh yeah they could attach a machine gun to this quiet easily land mines would probally take it out or a pitfall trap, but they might even have it fly someday it could be unstoppable

  • Or theu can install some metal detector's or x-ray scanner , so it won't step on any metal object , or mine ... :)

  • Neat technology, however, way too much noise! It is also very easy to disable. How well will it walk on three legs when I take one leg out with an M4? I wouldn't want to be in a combat with something that sounds like a Stihl chainsaw following me around. No thanks, I'll carry my own shit!

  • ancient technology... the military has ray guns mounted on satelites thay can focus on a mans heart and kill in a split second. Tell me something I don't al ready know !!!!!!!!!! NO NEW WORLD ORDER!!! If I die in the next year or so I guess loose lips sink ships and the US Government taught me a lesson. Maybe you will find my picture on a milk carten somewhere. lol ROFL jesus saves by the way ; )

  • Mi Armanyo le gana!

  • The Major Problem is Energy consuption To Run the Actuators they have to carry an onboard Power Generator running all the time, Batteries alone could not holld enough juice for these machines for days.

  • he fat bitch at the beginning.......she starts off with since nine eleven.................wat the fuck is that got to do with this? How many times are they gunna drum that date into your head like it means somthing??

    fat slut.

  • I wanna kick it so it lands on its back with the legs in air. It is a complete joke in all the meanings. It would also make the soldiers emotional instable when seeing this freak-thing, seriosly. But I think it is a prank by a student-group from a school to put up those videos on youtube "missleading people" in one or another way. Nothing more than that, becouse where are the CNN-news about this thing?

  • When one busts down your door in 50 years and fills your ass full of bullets you wont be saying that.

  • this maschine is far too loud. all enemys will hear you and shoot you all. robodog < bazooka

  • if you've heard it without the engine you'd know that the machine itself is really quiet ... the engine is merely to generate electricity for the systems and pump the hydraulics , so the final version will probably use a more silent power-source :)

  • K i dont think no one notices this but the Big Dog is just like the robots you fight in Metal gear Sold 4 only it has 4 legs instead of 2 and Big Dog doesnt have guns on it (yet), very weird to see something like that in a game and be almost the same thing in real life very freaky.

  • except that that big dog joke doesn't have to worry about extreme heat and radiation

  • hahaha

  • I'll put my money on an Eskimo with pack of sledding dogs over this retarded, noisy piece of money shredding technology; the dumbest donkey on earth will outperform this Big Dog joke

  • Uhhm, how much did that Cost the tax-payer. I have a suggestion: instead of trying to artificially imitate Nature why not use Nature and save money. How about using donkeys, camels, horses, mules ... just an idea; probably will save us a lot of Tax Money

  • Good luck explaining how your donkey got shot in the war. I'm sure PETA would be all over that one. The best use I can see is putting a stretcher on top and sending it to the back line with the injured.

  • a donkey/mule can wear some elementary armor, and the Big Dog is just as vulnerable to being shot/incapacitated;

  • Why don't we just invent new ways to avoid war rather than wasting our limited time inventing new ways to kill each other?

War = mass death and mass destruction

  • War = Mother of all Inventions

  • @healthhavencom Then invent a way to remove Mans desire for war

  • @healthhavencom talk soft and carry a big stick.

  • @healthhavencom Good luck with that. Now, get your head out of your ass.

  • Comment removed

  • We can't avoid war forever.

  • @dinmagic

Really? How did you reach that conclusion?

  • There are religions aganist religions, mothers aganist daughters, fathers aganist sons, and children aganist parents. When 2 powers disagree with one another, then there is war. Look at your history and get a view of the world and you realize that it is impossible to avoid war. I would love to have peace on this planet, and so will the person on the other side of this planet, but does that person want the same peace as I do? Will we agree with everything?

  • For as long as there are humans, there will always be war.

  • @healthhavencom Because peace doesn't pay as well.

  • @healthhavencom Wow what a courageous stand, you don't like war :-p

  • @grenade350

Wow what a coward, you do like war.

  • @healthhavencom nice comeback!

Become educated before you preach to everyone about war technology not being good for America to possess. I think you'll learn (if you're open-minded) that war technology makes everyone in America safer. Do you think it'd have been better if we never got involved in WWII and just let Europe get taken over by a madman? And millions more innocents die? And be repeatedly bombed by Japan, having chosen "peace" over retaliation for Pearl Harbor?

    Grow a brainstem.

  • @healthhavencom

New ways to kill each other is the only invention that can avoid war.

  • @healthhavencom

Because there are too many people on this world and we need to reduce that number until only 1 person has full controll... Don't you watch movies? :D

  • I hope population control starts soon because you sheeple are seriously fucking tards. And your all fucking disgusting.

  • Emontyj.... isnt it cheaper to use ur mom ?

  • rise of the machines................

  • Looks like the gekko from metal gear solid 4!

  • is't it cheaper to use a donkey.

  • Lets make technology to develop people so wars will not exist!!! instead of making machines for war!!

  • Yeah, exactly. As long as more money goes into war than peace, war will perpetuate and become much more horrific. Just another example of why humanity really isn't that smart.

  • not sure about the military complex funding research but i'm stoked on the design

  • be more funny

  • Why don't you guys just use a horse?

  • lol I thought this too, but i think there was a good reason for that... just cant rember quite what.. well they do scare easily for one..

  • And if your horse gets shot then your pretty much fucked right then and there.

Ohh and you can have a bunch of gay soldiers saying "i love my horse" and then beastiality would come into the equation.

  • kinda looks like a prototype to the gekkos from metal gear solid 4

  • You know, technology is great, but the reporter says that it 'looks' like a big dog. My question to him is, what kind of fucking dogs does he look at? Looks like a gigantic black shit

  • My question to you is, what kind of fucking shits do you look at? Looks like a gigantic mechanical dog.

  • you HAVE to be looking in a mirror when you say this. It's fucking hilarious.

  • It's nice to see Monica Lewinski has found a new job.

  • I think I speak for 'lil Jimmy when I ask,

"What end do you fuck it in?"

  • Comment removed

  • I see this thing breaking down at the exact time you need those supplies.

  • It's just way too loud right now....

  • not that creepy fucking thing again

  • Ruff! Ruff! Our enemies have been warned.

  • I would never want that loud ass freakshow with me on the battlefield! It would draw the enemies right to me!

  • Wheres all the impressive jazz from the other video! Like pushing it with your foot and it readjusts itself. This video doesn't give that scary amazing robot credit.

  • Now if we could just get some decent camo for it...LOL

  • its got legs remind me of the Gekko from mgs4

  • That was a tame demonstration of its true capabilities.

Come on, its only missing a pair of weapons. Imagine that thing roaming the streets when they declare marshal law.

  • it's crazy, but i think some troops might become deeply attached to a bigdog after it's actually on the field.

it's still an inanimate object, i don't know. like a car's just a car, but once you have one for a while it in a way becomes something more.

i won't lie, i'm not a soldier or anything, but that's what i think would happen on a smaller, more intimate level. it's really interesting stuff, both the technology and the reactions of people to it.

  • Why does everyone complain about the noise?!?!?!? Do non of you know the process of development? The first car was loud, bulky, and incapable of barely and maneuvers. Now look at cars today. . .

  • Looks like something you'd see in Silent Hill.

  • The thing is way too fucking loud

  • It's a prototype - wait until they drop an electric motor in the thing!

  • BigDog uses a 15-horse water-cooled two-stroke engine to power the hydraulics that move the legs. If you were to replace that with an electric motor, the power-to-weight ratio would drop significantly.

The setup they've currently got is actually very nice. It's just a little on the loud side.

  • @Spartan043 could they quiet it with mufflers, like with cars?

  • @grenade350

Actually, this video shows the BigDog with a muffler installed. That's the tube running along the left side. Still pretty loud, though.

  • There are great communication applications and recon applications for the "Big Dog"

  • Put a scooby doo skin on it

  • Oh my god Metal Gyear!

  • They need to fix the noise problems :)

BigDog is not combat effective when it comes to being quiet when its needed.

Too loud, can get your squad killed.

  • hell almost all the technical devices we use today started because of military research

  • why is this machine ment to be on a battlefield?

isnt there any more useful application for this great technology?

  • can anyone say ravage

  • "wars of tomorrow"

    suck my dick

  • bs thiers another video of it walking on ice it never falls once were a human being would that thing can jump too and i dont mean up and down that bitch jumps like a horse

  • Yeah, and when it jumps, the back legs make it within the painted-line limits! Astounding piece of tech.

  • THIS THING IS FUCKING HILARIOUS.

  • If you think this thing is cool check out the Ripsaw - that thing is BADASS

  • Well as long as your not going on a stealth mission your fine, hostages may be endanger at gunpoint when the enemies hear something like that too.

  • Good kamikase

  • OMG!!!

    New World Order is COMING!!!!

    Wake up!

  • that things FUCK UGLY

in military the oposin side will shoot that thing instead of the soldiers lmao

  • damn metal gear!!!!

  • not as useless as your youtube account. one shot in the leg and any soldier is useless. worse than useless. it takes several more soldiers to take care of a wounded soldier. try to buy a clue.

  • yaaaaaa lets let robots take over humanity

  • Seriously, it would be interesting to know why this particular robot engenders such strong emotions. It isn't particularly intelligent. It just happens to have a form of mobility that resembles certain mammals. It isn't more lethal than many other machines and robots that exist. Is it the chainsaw fueled power-train? Its uncanny anthropomorphic characteristics? Its militaristic marching gait? The fact that it is produced by the military-industrial complex? Inquiring minds want to know.

  • there always 20 years ahead of us with technology, in that what they reveal to the public

  • Actually, I blame the Terminator movies.

  • your right there. take the new mag lev train technology, we're not supposed to know about, thousands of miles per hour, not hundreds. crazy, think if we all could use this technology for good not war.

  • @joetommany I'm sure we will. Maybe in restaurants, or maybe for entertainment, like for a ride at an amusement park. Or perhaps for animal research - they can make one up to be a doppelganger for a cheetah, for example, and have it go see what the real cheetahs are up to...

  • @grenade350 Yeah, that sounds excellent. Don't get me wrong, I'm from the UK and our soldiers are getting killed too, please don't take my previous comment as a dig at the concept of saving both of our country's soldiers on the front line, I'm sure it can help there too. And for the rest of us civvies, new legs for amputees and disabled people would be a huge step too. Keep up the good work BD

  • 20 years? Yeah right. A couple tops.

  • 4 years old...that 28 in dog years...old enough for combat...
