It was a joke, the "because you're good looking" was literaly translated (look Lula checking his glasses". Braziil was a "country threatening US economy" even when Lula offered ethanol project to Pres. Obama, a days before this meeting, as a "enviroment friendly solution and you just need a farm", etc. We still use gas here and I think it's not all that. In Brazil, Lula said on tv that Pres. Obama actually said thanks, but only after the camera was off as he asked sorry for that.
for those who do not know the story, lula said that white men with blue eyes were the cause of all the problems in the world. it was a shocking comment by a world leader. even more shocking was obama's response. when obama saw him the next week, he treated him like a rock star who was meeting his idol. he told lula that he was "his man" and that lula was the most popular politician on earth. you see his absolute excitement for the racial stereotyping and division lula tried to foment. very sad.
@Fonerjtelefonia a very racist comment that has no place in decent society let alone coming from a world leader. our successes or failures are based on ideas that work or don't work, not on the skin or eye color or other broad stereotypes that someone wants to use to divide people. obama's embrace of this leader based on that comment was shocking and probably the beginning of the loss iof his popularity in america. we elected him to help bring america together, not to divide.
well, i prefer him than obama heheh

@cmpm439 @cmpm439 Lula said: 'White, blue-eyed bankers have brought world economy to its knees' and added ‘I’m not acquainted with any black banker,’
