Good vidThe explanations at the end are v.interesting. I have often wondered what some of the terms used, relate to. Love the CRE(Corps of Royal Engineers, methinks), love diving, not so keen on the old bill....so you score 2 out of 3.
CRE stands for Commander/Commanding Royal Engineer. It was the highest ranking Sapper in a division and responsible for all the engineers in the formation. Likewise they used to be a CRA, Commander Royal Artillery as the gunners head honcho at divisional HQ.
Still serving recently posted to 1RSME. Always sing this in the sqn bar

And you're a 23 year old 3rd year student are you?
When I was in 33 EOD, (for several years) CRE stood for the Corps of Royal (or rough) Engineers. What Regiment were you, mate?
