I was named after Christa! I was thought to be a boy the whole time while my mother carried me. However, I shocked my family coming out as a girl. With no girl names picked out, my father thought because Christa McAuliffe was such an amazing talented person that that would of course be just the name of his 2nd daughter. I was born 4 days after this tragic event and grew up learning all about her and space. Ive been fascinated with space for years now. RIP to all aboard.
i remember watching this live in 3rd grade after we learned all about Christa and her special mission. She was our hero and we couldn't wait to see her lessons from space. I am 32 yrs old now and she is still my hero. She always will be. She was so special and a fantastic woman. My future daughter will be named Christa someday in her honor.
May God bless the Challenger Crew. I'll never forget that horrible day.
I was 16 when this happened, and remember the exact minute in school when someone had said "the Challenger blew up." Very sad for the 6 astronauts, the teacher and their families. Not trying to be funny, but what a ride to take into Heaven...
I'm doing a report on Christa. Tomorrow I'm gonna dress up like her and pretend I'm actually her. This is really sad...I'm so sorry for her kids that r grown up right now.
I was 16 when this happend. In algebra class. I'm so sorry for the whole crew, but most sorry for Christa's kids who were only 6 and 8 at at the time of her death. I've always wondered why she would take on this kind of risky mission when they were so young. I still haven't come up with a satisfactory answer.
Hope I'm not repeating myself....standing there, as a student uw-whitewater...couldn't comprehend IT was happening-my sorrow goes out to all below...younger than I-bad things arent supposed to happen 2 good people-but it does-I'd take her place, and fly with angels- and the CREW-ALL LOVED-Suz

Yeah she helped teach a lesson from space ok, a lesson from god. Don't waste billions playing around when people are dying. You can't even buy a slurpee in space, there's no reason to go there. For all that money we got zip, nada nothing but some crap agency trying to steal credit for velcro and tang.
I was in 4th grade when it happened. we all did not understand what had happened. I just thought that it was part of the launch. Having followed the space program since Sally Ride flew 3 years before, i was so excited that a teacher, just like my own would be flying into space.
IF only i had gotten Christa's autograph
does anyone have their autographs. Now i have 5 challenger crew members autographs, Scobee, Smith, Resnik Onizuka and Mcnair. I am still looking for Jarvis and Christa's.
What a wonderful video! Thank you for putting this together and sharing it with all of us around the world. The world is indeed a better place because of these few, who dare to lead us all into the future.
May the Challenger Crew rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon them.
Hi Mary Jo and Renee...It's me Shawna Lee from MySpace. I just want to let you know that I have enjoyed every video you have posted. Especially the Sunita Williams interview while at Barbara Morgan's beach party.
May the Challenger crew continue to be held in the warm hands of God.
I remember the day the challenger blew up. I was on day 13 of my first westpac deployment in the Navy. The Captain announced the disaster shortly after morning quarters. We pulled into Pearl Harbor a few days later and of course it was all over the newspapers. Shocking.

It's so sad what happened...I was named after her, and the astronaut Judith. So my name is Crista Judith.
Even though it was awhile ago but...rest in peace guys. You didn't deserve to die like that. =(
