  • I respect louis for keeping a cool head here. i think most people would be scared if that man adressed them like that

  • Regarding some of your comments about hypocritical meat-eaters, OK there's a little truth in it but there is a bit of of a difference, farm animals are raised killed for the food, and people need to eat food (you can't expect everyone to be vegetarian, not in this lifetime) but these animals are raised to be killed..... just for the hell of it. I mean is that as good a reason? I can handle people fishing and shooting birds but what kind of person really wants to kill lions and tigers?

  • "I grew ep in a deef-rent cull-cher!"

Yeah, a less civilised culture. Sorry but I think there's some funny (and not ha-ha funny) people in South Africa, even when you get over those ludicrous accents.

  • His speech at the end. Right on the Money. If we can't find a way to exist, and be apart of the ecosystem, to make them economically viable, they will get destroyed.

  • I used to hunt a lot as a kid i would kill almost anything.

Now however im 27 and i feel different towards killing animal's.

I would even fish a bee out of water.

I respect people's right to hunt and maybe one day i might return to hunting myself with the way thing's are going in this world at the moment.

  • I don't agree with animals being hunted out of extinction. Instead they should hunt the criminals in jail. At least then they cant moan about no space for inmates ect...

  • Well i respect your opinion.

  • how long ntil we see LOuis Theroux meets Heather MIlls

  • Louis v Heather Mills? yeah I'd pay money to see that ....

I know what would happen though, Heather Mills would go off on one and make herself look like a complete tit, whilst Louis would just stand there lookin cool

  • How many of you arguing here have been out hunting? Sit in your leather covered armchairs and point fingers at everybody. Cows are kept in little camps, chickens, geese, name it there are loads. These animals roam free on vast areas of land and only the oldest are shot. Rather get shot than live my life in a cage and then on a truck where I can smell the blood and be driven to a slaughter house....

  • @Islandboy1424 I have hunted..and i continue to hunt...but to hunt animals such as lions etc and some that have already been pushed to the brink of extinction by MAN....?? thats just plain STUPID. Im most definately not surprised to see a lot of Americans hunting on that programme..i watched it and nearly all of them were American..what a backwards nation.

  • @LCStreetPhotographer From what I read in your argument I take it that you are British. All these animals can be shot in the UK and by slagging of the Americans. You also manage to mention pheasant, as far as I know the pheasants you hunt in the UK are originally from China, they are bred in small cages and had a lot of exposure in the media recently. Do you also join the line where the pheasant are flushed out from the woods and they fly over your head only for you to shoot at them?

  • @Islandboy1424 Don't mean to interrupt, but you Americans breed Tigers, Lions, oh just about anything remotely denagerous in suburban areas...

  • @WaldronicTomotron Yes I must agree, the American people breed a lot of animals as far as I know, thing is, I am not American, I am a South African and I have very good knowlege when it comes to wildlife management.

  • @Islandboy1424 All we're seeing on this programme is basically hunting hand reared PETS. This would equate to about the same experience as taking fido out into a forest and then, hunting him.But better take a dog whistle along so you can get him in nice and close to take that EASY shot. Pathetic.go on whats your argument going to be against me...a keen hunter of red deer, roe deer, muntjac, wild boar, rabbit, wood pigeon, pheasant, grouse etc.i take whats needed..unlike these slack jawed yokels.

  • @Islandboy1424 Unlike this bunch of wankers i have to carefully stalk my quarry..these guys could walk up to theirs and blow them away with a .44 to the head...that is NOT HUNTING. This is just basic plain DISPATCHING of near on tame animals.....pffffft..as a hunter im ASHAMED of this lot.

  • @LCStreetPhotographer I can see what your argument is and somehow this must must be the view of loads of people. Tell me, have you ever hunted in Africa? Have you ever been there? Do you know of anybody that hunted Africa? Do you realise that there is very few areas in the world that is not privately owned? In the UK, do you think a farmer will keep a field full of cattle it the cattle had no value?? Do you think that people in Africa also need money to survive??

  • @Islandboy1424 Have i been to Africa? yep.several times..im a Royal Marine Commando..British we fought in Sierra Leonne..i've been to kenya on training exercises 3 times and Botswana, Mombassa and Democratic Republic of Congo..i didnt hunt there because i dont believe in hunting animals that are pushed to the brink already. If anything these guys should be breeding them for eventual release to stabilise numbers and make a WORTHWHILE contribution, i hunt deer (UK) but only when they need culling

  • @LCStreetPhotographer You know, we can argue here all we like, and we wont get anywhere, point is, these animals are bred for a few reasons, yes they get hunted, but not all of them, if you have been to africa like you said then you will know its an enourmous place, most of them will never get shot! Dont be offended by this but its people like you that insult these farmers, Do you honoustly think they will let all the animals get killed? This is their livelyhood and we as South Africans are

  • @Islandboy1424 Also cattle in the UK....they arent rare or pushed to the brink..most of these animals are..i've done enough IN the FIELD research on this in my own time on R&R when on Op training over there. Sure much of the world is privately owned..still no excuse. Like i said i DO hunt..i hunt deer when they reach vermin proportions in the UK but then only to cut the numbers back..these animals seen on this clip are animals that need to be BRED UP..no need to cull them by miles.

  • @Islandboy1424 not that stupid, if it was'nt for people like this a lot of species would have been gone by now. When you have been out there and you really know what is going on then come back and talk to me, cos I deal with this every day of my life! So yes, you have been there with trips, but some of us know the reality and smell the coffee.

  • I saw the complete programe of Louis Theroux's African Hunting Holiday. Man i really hate those hunters and those stupid keeper of animals for hunt, they are completely animal themself. Money Money Money what money mother fucker, you keep the animal for kill then your place is right away on hell. i was i had the ability to band completely those mother fucker from hunting and keeping animal for hunt. what is going on in this earth. i really hate killing anything

  • 'If its not for hunting there will be no species left in africa???' What a load of SHIT!

  • its not shit its SAD BUT TRUE.

  • Common, you cant be serious! That makes no sense at all... ok the money from the hunts is paying for the welfare of those animals in and arround that park, but are you tellin me that if it was just stopped for good that animals all over africa would just die as the guy suggests?!?! Please explain... Sure they can survive just fine without the intervention of humans.

  • we are not livin in an ideal world, animals cant survive without human intervention, main factors are growth of human population and habitat loss, plus without these parks poachers would kill all these species in less then no time.

  • True, i take your point, to a degree. Human growth and habitat loss is a big threat, africa is one hell of big place tho so sure there'l be plenty of land for the animals for many years to come at least. It a bit of a catch 22... they cant survive without human intervention but its also the human intervention thats threatening them ie the building on the land and the poachers like ya say, fair point.

  • @bigrawG100 As the worlds best evolutionist explained quite rightly..if man as a species ceased to exist overnight....the world would carry on quite happily without him, indeed the NATURAL WORLD would THRIVE..but when a non human species dissapears for good..the environment is IRRIVERSIBLY affected forever in a negative manner. Even though im a hunter myself i cant help but feel that MY species..is the lowest of the low.

  • Louis Theroux should bloody well stand up for himself and argue his points and not be shouted into his corner by some prick who is cornered

ps posted last comment twice by mistake.

  • HE is just squirming and fishing around in his head to make it look as if there is some positive in all this when really he is in denial, which is why he lost his rag.

Black south Africans as far as I can see have respect for the nature around them in their tribes etc, and would never think to cull elephants because they eat the wrong bush, elephants are intelligent and mystical.

makes me puke you poeple thinking he has a point.

  • Louis Theroux is just being an idiot. When you break it down theres no difference between this and a slaughterhouse, we breed animals for money. And if you eat meat then you have no real moral highground, Louis Theraux should of just shot the warthog knowing that his consumption of meat, and him occasionally throwing leftover chicken/sausages in the bin has resulted in a few pointlessly killed animals.

  • there is a difference, we need meat in our diet and we take advantage of being at the top of the food chain but it aint right to kill for fun, if we ate them afterwards it would be a whole different matter.plus i never waste food!

  • I would like to correct you on one point and that is that we, as human beings, do NOT need meat in our diet! That is merely a point that people who like to be ignorant about the meat industry like to tell themselves. I have been a vegetarian for over 17 years now and i'm still going strong! I truly believe that we abuse our power as humans by doing whatever we desire with the world around us without really thinking about the consequences. It is NEVER right to kill an animal because we want to.

  • you need meat in your diet unless you wanna grow up to be a weak pussy. i dont think if i was walking thru the african plains one day that a lion would not choose to eat me and eat an apple instead, so why would i be any different. man has been eating meat since humankind begun, its the food chain.

  • So, you are likening yourself to a lion?? How strange. I thought through the wonders of evolution we, as humans, had developed a mind very different from that of a lion and no longer just relied on instinct. Nutritionally we have no need for meat as all the nutrients contained within it can also be found in other food sources. A lion on the other hand is an carnivore that cannot live without meat as it needs a vital nutrient called Taurine only found in flesh.

  • if you just eat salad your whole life you just grow up to be a big pussy

  • 100% true

  • yes demjrm i am prepared to liken myself to a lion, because all of us biologically ARE animals, we may be very sophisticated animals. but the bottom line is we are animals, and all carnivore (meat eating) animals, such as lions and ourselves are meant to eat meat to sustain a healthy diet. you may be able to survive on lettuce and leek but my guess is that your not the fittest and muscliest of people. (we are genetically built to be carnivores, hence our sharp canine teeth)

  • Biologically indeed we are animals, yes. But we no longer have to rely on instinct because, as you say, we are sophisticated animals. This gives us the knowledge to understand that we can live without meat. We do in fact have canine teeth but as with most predators we don't have the ability to kill large animals without the help of a weapon. We have the power as human beings to choose whether we pick up that weapon or not. We don't HAVE to. Unlike a lion we have a choice.

  • Your argument's wasted on them - people are inherently selfish and they want to try and justify their murderous habits to themselves. By saying that we need meat in our diets, etc., etc., they're able to sleep at night.

  • @antifreeze8904 Ermmmm...were not CARNIVOROUS animals..were OMNIVOROUS...eat both meat and plant matter..stop trying to liken yourself to a Lion.

Like i said i hunt myself..but the way you just made that comment....was pretty demeaning for all hunters. Likening us to something as powerful and awesome as a Lion.

  • @yourmumisadick hang on hang on..i hunt...and..i eat meat..but seriously ..your saying if you dont eat meat you grow up to be a weak pussy???? better tell that to David Haye...ooops..he may take your head off if you do..:D...ta ta.

  • I oppose hunting for "sport", but I fail to feel the moral imperative of vegetarianism. Meat was vital in our evolution as a species, and it is still a vital element of a healthy diet. A protein-rich diet (from consuming meat/fish) was a primary factor in the development of our brains. We are predators, evolution has determined this. We CAN choose to forsake meat, but that doesn't mean we need to. I've never once met a robust, healthy vegetarian (who doesn't rely on synthetic supplements.)

  • However, i'm also aware of the hypocrisy of meat-eaters. Many have never even seen a farm animal, let alone killed one for food. I feel that the animal's welfare should be paramount, with high living standards and a natural diet being mandatory. It should be killed humanely, with as little pain as possible. If this means the cost of meat rises, then so be it. I think meat-eaters should kill, skin, gut and cook at least one animal in their life. It allows a greater appreciation of Nature.

  • Well, I eat meat cause I enjoy eating it lol. I don't give a toss about the animal. Its selfish I know, but at the end of the day my desires mean more to me than an entire species of animals. At least I'll die having fulfilled my 'greed'.

  • "I fuckin' hate elephants!!!"

  • there's pest control and then there's sheer toffery it is not a sport it's the tory mans past time. They say it's part of our culture then why not bring back dog fighting or cock fighting wow because most people think it's cruel. toffs prancing around in red coats get a life.

  • I think the man has a point. I managed to watch all of this. In fact this man described animals as oxygen to him, and that he indeed loves animals very much. He couldnt imagine life without animals by his side. I think without a system of hunting, there would be mindless hunting, therefore extinction. Thats why elephants are in danger.

  • "it's like tennis without a net, isn't it?" "if you want to put it that way..." Christ, what a cunt.

  • I can't wait to watch this

  • Take fox hunting, the pro-hunting people say that there are too many of them and it's causing a problem. If you look at the real fact (in one BBC article a few years ago) a prestigious lord was caught red handed breeding foxes on farmland to make claim to this fact. So it's not fair to say that some people think they are 'cute' and 'fluffy' and others don't. When looking at the real facts it a whole different story.

  • this guy has a point, although he is completely forgetting the tourist industry

  • What a bloody racist! 3:10 he says Africa does not have computers and people who are disciplined to give it a chance",your ilk are the ones who raped Africa for years and years you twat!

And yeah,we are disciplined.I am African and I am disciplined you Oxymoronic twit!

I suspect he get s a thrill out of killing innocent animals because he is impotent or his wife is ugly or fat or something.!You loser!

  • It annoys me when people from a compltely different culture and society come and comment and enforce their opinion on those who have lived there and know what it's all about. It's all well and good for us brits to say how bad hunting is over there, when it is a massive part of their income, in a much poorer country than our own.

  • good point, nobody likes to think of wild animals being hunted like that but we don;t live there.

but about the hunting thing, the rich guys should be going out on their own with a risk of them getting killed. thats real fair hunting!

  • Indeed, that would be annoying. But Louis does not enforce his opinions. He asks very normal questions. The man in question made a rather big deal out of it, which suggests he knows that what he is doing could be wrong.

  • gargle50- The question wasn't about hunting it was about breeding animals in captivity for the sole purpose of hunting (just for pure adrenalin). It's really a joke that you think it is a major part of any countries GDP. Boooooo to you mate.

And no need to bring up the question of race, but you will almost certainly see white people in these organised legalised crime corners in predominantly black Africa. How would you feel if foreigners came and destroyed your country's heritage?

  • Can I just say that was a typo - I ment to say 'MAY be a massive part of their income' - and Im not justifying what they are doing, im just saying it annoys me when people have such strong opinions of something and have absoloutly no idea about it. It's like the whole fox hunting debate over here in britain. You have the city twats who think Foxs are 'cute' and 'fluffy' so they vote against it and they have absoloutly no idea about it or what goes on. That was my main point in my previos comment

  • gargle50 I agree with the point your putting forward about a cultural clash, but please don't provide alternative reason to these kind of madness's (Killing animals in this kind of fashion is absolutely wrong).

  • You may see it as wrong, but in there culture it is - apparently - not. I also feel that many animals over here (Britain) are led horrible lives only be ended so we can eat them, and these animals have fantastic lives and are then killed instantly, probably not even knowing that the shooter is there. I think people nowadays are so far removed from the source of the product ie the animal that when it comes to killiung they get very uptight about it.

  • You should have lived in the 19th century when we had countries like this under our thumb.

  • The guy's speaking sense. Everything has it's price nowadays, if it's not valuable and is seen as a pest it will disappear. I'm a vegetarian and an animal lover but I'm also a realist.

  • fair enough we shouldn't interfere with what they need to do because we in the UK or whatever think its morally wrong fuck are opinion on animal rights

  • At last someone tells us how it really is - we blame the africans for destroying the animals and their habitat but we have created the greed with our need for convenience where they will prostitute all their resources for the white man. I would prefer to see animals surviving naturally, but the guy is right it will all be gone unless it brings money. We are to blame, not them. Time to get real, take responsibility and understand the impact the west has on the rest of the world.

  • he gets paid an inch?? umm yep the bloke is a sad git!!

well done louis cant wait for this one louis at his best agian !!!!

  • Haha Louis is back!!!

    I'll be watching this

  • Where's a puppy throwing marine when you need one? All elephants need to be thrown off a cliff like that 300 movie

  • Oh, and to say the elephants destroy the beautiful things and don't eat the ugly bushes... ER HELLO ...pot - kettle! Just leave nature alone! It done just fine for millions of years on it's own.

MAN - DESTROYER OF WORLDS - STARTING WITH HIS OWN!

  • "9/10ths to be stuck on a wall"?

"It's a way to make money"?

I would gladly run that cunt over for "sport" and a trophy. What a selfish, uncaring arsehole.

He feels shame otherwise why try to censor the camera?

  • Like we did in the west - where there are now hardly any wild animals left. I live in England, centuries ago there would have been lots of woodland here with bears, dear, wild boar, wild cats, eagles, etc. Now what is there?? Africa is developing, it wants to be like the west and we say to them stop killing your animals. We are the problem, not them, they are doing what comes naturally, what we have already done here. What is the ROOT cause??

  • I thought the bloke had a point there.Tenuous,but a point.

  • lovely

  • Louis's shows are always really intereseting... its good to see both sides of the agruement.

  • I love Louis Theroux. Can't wait for this!

  • well I bet he wouldn't want 9/10 of his family stuck on a wall. This is just a typical demonstration of man's supposed superiority on earth, but we have shown that by all the bad things going on in the world, we should be a bit more caring for each other, the animals that walk with us, and the environment we live in. Some people, like this guy, just don't understand that.

  • No buddy you don't understand. If this guy wasn't controlling the breeding of the number to be hunted, there would be open carnage on all animals in Africa. It's better that he breeds a certain amount to be hunted and ensures the survival of the rest of the species. Animals are all Africa has, if men like him don't make them part of the economy they'll become part of the detruction. He's not superior to them, they're part of his livelihood, he's closer to them than you are.

  • Livelihood??Why cant the idiot go to college or Uni and make a proper livelihood like the rest of society, whilst meaningfully contributing to the world at large!

He must have a 1 digit IQ or something, that's why the only creative thing he can do is kill innocent animals.

Animals are not what all Africa has,Africa has got a lot more resources than just animals.

  • It shows the pathetic nature of the blood sport.
